Yes,winters are hard to handle in this part of the midwest..like Otter said, way too long and grey and 'yukie'. But the Fall is a beautiful color palette. I'm going to Door County to paint this all next week.Yeah!

Blue - those pictures are too sweet!

Weclome back, kira -sorry about your DH. Hope it is easily treatable.

Loving, loving this weather. While everyone was going around in jackets and light coats (I even saw some gloves) I was wearing light cotton. BC did this to me, folks - I am convinced of it. Unfortunately, the temperature will rise again. I think I have developed a phobioa for hot weather and it is worrying me. Just hearing that it will be in the 70s again has me in a black mood because all I can think of is "discomfort, feeling ill and hating it all"....oh well.  But Bren, I am sure you welcome the nicer weather.

Wondering if Happy Libby has started returning to work yet?

Hey, Athena! I worked half-day from home today and I am TIRED! The plan is to work half-days from home this week, go to work half-days next Tuesday and Wednesday (after Columbus Day), and then take off Thursday and Friday of that week. Then I will assess what I should do. Based on how very tired I am after just working four hours from home, I'm not entirely sure when I will go back to the office regularly.

My belly wound is supposedly healing -- the PS was happy with what he saw last Friday and I don't have to go back for two weeks. We are still packing it 3x/day with saline-moistened gauze ... DH says, "This is all very Civil War-like, isn't it?" The main wound is about 6" long and about 1/2" deep ... And another spot about an inch long and 1/4" deep opened up about 1/2 inch along the scar. Enough already!

I'm feeling ok ... But still tired. I keep trying to move around more to get some endorpins, but that just makes me tired. It is a process.

Kira, I sure hope your DH gets good news at the dermatologist!

Otter, it is always good to see you.

Artsee, the picture was beautiful ... I do love autumn in the Upper Midwest!

Blue, Bren, Sunflowers, Susie .... Hugs to you and to all those who my Boomer Brain left out!

    XO

(((HL))) Your DH is a trooper. The wound sounds awful, but what matters is that it's on the mend. It takes a lot of energy for the body to cope with that. Now wonder you are tired. It's also probably a bit like when you don't exercise afte a while. You need to rebuild your stamina. Glad to see you here, though.

HL - yukk - hope it heals up quickly. I remember my DH having a wound we had to pack daily - I hated it.

It's official - I am totally bored. Just been to see someone in another area asking if I can help out there - now I might actually have some work to do - hooray!!! It gets quiet in between projects and we are all waiting to see which project we will work on next.

Susie - when will you hear about the job?

I might be promoted, so I was told today. Good thing - maybe my crappy salary will be livable in these parts, for once. Off to watch a hilarious comedy - Neil Simon's Death by Murder - or Murder by Death.

Great drinks tonight, chaplain. You never disappoint.

Artsee, that's a beautiful photo.  You've reminded me why autumn is a favored season in the upper midwest.  I just wish it lasted longer.

HL, "... Civil War-like"?  LOL!  I love how some people can come up with just the right words.  I've packed wounds on animals (horses, especially), but never on a human.  I think it would take a strong stomach.

I hope that rumor (?) about your promotion is the real thing, Athena.  I keep forgetting how expensive the cost of living can be on the coasts.

My mammogram appt. and follow-up with my B.S. went smoothly.  The mammo tech was very good.  My "very dense" right breast is now just "moderately dense."  Everyone seemed happy about that.  I've been on Arimidex for more than 3 years, and I guess I thought the density would decline faster than it has.  Oh, well.  I got felt up by my B.S. and her physician's assistant, using distinctly different patterns and pressure.  Neither of them felt anything unusual.  We chatted about the difficult time I've had finding a breast form and mast bras I think are comfortable.  My B.S. offered some suggestions and gave me a list of prosthesis fitters and specialty bra stores in the area.  It will be a year before I need to do this again (whew!).

Otter - good news!!! Mine is due on the 14th - MRI first - yukk.

Athena - Haven't heard yet, they were saying they might start interviewing mid this week. I don't know who else has applied. I did ask one guy and he hadn't, so that's one out of the running. It only closed @ 3pm yesterday. I have my fingers crossed for a promotion for you!!

HL - so good to see you posting - sorry you're still recovering but honestly that was pretty tough surgery - dh is certainly a keeper if he can dress a wound and talk about the civil war - I am impressed.  Get lots of rest and I bet your stamina will return it just takes time (and don't we all hate to hear that).

    Hugs, Sandy

Happy Early Thanksgiving to all of you who will be celebrating it! I love this time of year! Just got back from a much needed sisterly luv weekend. Had dinner with my 2 youngest sisters in Perth then sightseeing and window shopping in Westport. What a pretty town! I swear half the province must have been out even tho the wether was a damper, the town was packed with tourists. The fall and artists tours bring people out in droves. My BIL was sweet enough to let us do out thing while he hid out in his man cave appearing only when food was to be had! We saw lots of wild turkeys in the countryside........too bad I don't hunt, I could of supplied ya all with a thanksgiving turkey!

Appointments coming up for that yearly check.....boo! I am waiting to see if they give me the call from mamography. Just testing. I want to know if they are on the ball with this or if I am going to have to call them. Any of you get called automatically or do you have to set it up yourself??? Just wondered as my faith in the system leaves much to be desired.

Hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Daisy - I made the appointment myself as I was supposed to be done in April but refused due to the fact I had had enough after the second dx. I'm supposed to have MRI annually and mammo annually - alternating. I'll do both this time and then go 6 monthly. You never know, on the day they might just do the MRI only - they shouldn't really need a mammo too unless they find something.

My left foot is killing me!!! Like someone is stabbing it on the top. I did ice it when I got home today and it helped a bit. I'm going to work from home tomorrow and Thursday to give it a rest - why not - everyone else does it. Seeing doc on Thurs morning about the foot. If he tells me to go and see a podiatrist, I'll sock him.

HL, so glad you are mending, just don't overdo it! Athena, hope you get the promotion. More $$ is always welcome!. Blue, take it easy after your wild weekend. Artsee, love the picture! Enjoy a week of painting. If I missed someone it is because I am in mourning for my Rays. They can redeem themselves if they win tonight (but will give me another heart attack in game 5).

Otter - good news , hopr ou are happily feeing relieved and POSITIVE about everything.

HL - easy, easy, easy - give those beautiful boobs time to heal, as well as tummy scar.  No work is more important than your health.  I always believed in rubbing vitamin e oil ( sticking apin in a vitamin capsule, NOT the "cosmetic" vitamin e oil) when the scar begins to form.  Seems to help it heal.

Athena - I used to be JUST like you, until my thyroid checked out, stopped functioning, then things became tooooooo cold.  Meds sort of help, but I can't complain, cuz no real hot flashes.  There's something about cool air in DC that is so much more invigorating than anyplace else.  Guess it's cuz we know it's a respite from the Swamp.  Hope the Metro escalators you use are behaving. Won't print what my friends using the Bethesda Metro have to say - whew! And those are STEEEEP stairs - not as bad, I don't think as Woodley Park, but still not people friendly.

For those not familiar with the wise folks in DC - they built HUGE banks of escalators leading to Metro Stations with NO COVER of any kind from weather - rain, snow, nada. Exposed to elements and never functioning. SO, they are turned OFF, and used as stairways.  Don't ask what it's like - don't even try to imagine.  GRIM.

Artsee - I ADORE the picture - wish BCO would stop placing these #@%$@$@#^ intrusive ads in all the wrong places.  ESPECIALLY the ones suggesting we increase the amount of DAIRY we eat, I do not eat ANY dairy and feel 1,000% better than when I was...alas.  It's $$$$ I know, but I am not clicking - tho I see the NOTICE everytime I sign on - jeez - you'd figure after we clicked No, Thanks, a few times it would stop.   OH, BOTHER!

Off to Drawing class.  Hope all have super day!  Yup, you guessed, IT'S RAINING!!!!!!!!!!

Sun...I thought that was very rude of them to paste those adds over my photo. I'll have to have a discussion with them. I can't get rid of it either.

HL...sorry about the packing and acting like a nurse. My stomach is very weak when it comes to that stuff. My DH also scraped up his entire shin from knee to ankle. He packed his own and it took months to have the big FAT scab finally fall off. Now he has to go back for some more carving on his other leg as they found cancer in the spot. I told him not to wear shorts anymore. He looks like he went through a war.

Otter...glad everything went swimmingly well with the apt. Is an AI supposed to make your breast less dense? My Onco is sooooo gentle, but my Gyni....I hold my breath the whole time during a breast exam because it hurts like H--L!! But I'm glad it's not till April that I go back. That'll be a year for the mamo.

Beautiful weather here for the third day in a row.

    Have a great day everyone.

Foot feels a lot better but still painful.

Blue - can I have a piece of pie with double cream?

HI----just a quick question. Is there a thread here for our male spouse/partner? BTW Im not ignoring we may have female spouses&partners , but its going to be hard to get my DH to read something, but we've hit that spot of he's scared spitless, gets short with me,which he doesnt want to do. So I thought if there is a thread I could put it on when computer time is his.  THANK YOU  kad2kar

Hey, Kad2Kar . . . in the section on "support and community connections," there's a forum for family and friends of people with BC.  I haven't really checked it out, but just looking at some of the posts, there look to be some spouses/partners who post there.  There's also material on the main (non discussion board) section of the website.  I think you really hit on something with your DH's reactions . . . it is so scary for our partners, and they can't really confide their fears in us.

We heard a faint grumbling from this thread about artsee's lovely photo being cut off by the side banner, so now it's resized to fit nicely. 650 pixels wide works well when you set the dimensions.

Is anyone else sick of pompous stooopid people who make no sense whatsoever and are soooooo hypocritical?  Do as I say not as I do?  I'm sure we all know the type and have had that sort in our lives, past, present and future. My next door neighbour is only one such person, but there are so many it shocks me.

Having veal cutlets for dinner.  Bettter remember to take them out of the freezer.
