Has anyone gotten Life Line Screening?
I've received offers in the mail from Life Line Screening. For one price, you get tested for stroke, heart rhythm, abdominal aortic, periperal arterial, and osteoporosis.
Is it worth $149, or should I ask my regular md about it? Separate tests might cost more and certainly take more time.
Let me know what you think. Thank you.

Thank you for your question about Life Line Screening. To share a little background, we are the nation's leading provider of preventive health screening services. Our screenings are affordable, safe and painless. We believe it is important for people who are proactive about their health and/or who may have a family history of certain types of disease (such as heart disease or stroke) to have an affordable option, because preventive testing could mean the difference between finding risk of a potentially serious problem and having a serious issue occur.
If you would like to read what other participants are saying about their experiences, we invite you to follow Life Line Screening on Facebook or read stories that others have shared with us at http://www.lifelinescreening.com/about-us/personal-stories/default.aspx. We also encourage you to watch Life Line Screening's What to Expect video on YouTube for additional information about our screening events. I hope this helps with your decision and addresses any questions you have.

Amontro,
I received my Life Line Screening in June of 2011. I am very glad I had this screening done. It alerted my doctors to problems that went undetected for I'm afraid a long time. I have a completely blocked right carotid artery. I had no symptoms when this happened to me so I just went on as usual. Now, I am on medications to help my medical problems. I will also need regular check-ups and ultra sounds and MRI's to make sure my left side is remaining healthy and doing all of the work for the right side. I would have gladly given $150 and been told "everything looks fine" but instead now I am aware of my problems and will do what I need to do to stay healthy. You can ask your doctor to run the same test, but I am told that they will be more expensive. I also found out that my insurance didn't pay for some of them. I would recommend Life Line Screening to anyone. $150 is a small price to pay to find out you are healthy and in my case I believe it has saved my life!

My boyfriend and I both had it done several years ago. I got a clean bill of health, he was told that he had moderate build up in his arteries. It was such a simple test, that it was hard for me to believe that they could tell all that from just a few small tests, but a year later, when I went to the ER for heart palpitations, 2 days in the hospital, and they tested me for everything under the sun, and the results were the same...clearn bill of health as far as heart is concerned. Total cost for that visit was $20,000, so yes, Lifeline Screening might be the better option unless you suspect you have a serious problem.

I have insurance that will cover any medically necessary tests so to me the price seems high.

I don't know that a Dr. would order all the test they do on Life Line, unless you have a complaint regarding a particular problem. Insurance companies don't like to pay "just because" we want out arteries checked...or we decide we think it's time for a bone density test. They do five different tests and I think it's worth the $149.00.It's fast and all done in 30 min. if that. I get a letter every year....I'm tempted but have never gone. The problem with me is...do I want to be burdened with another problem right now? I know it's a stupid way of thinking and I hope that when I do decide to do it, it won't be to late.
