Good morning to all of my breastest buds. NO WAY am I going to try and catch up! I will say welcome to our new gal/s. Kymn, hang in there girl....you will be just fine. Just be careful and aware. Karen, wouldn't it be awesome if the answer to your problems was to go OFF the meds? Wishing you the best.
Well, no gambling gods in Laughlin this past weekend AT ALL! Usually one of us wins a little, but not this time. No biggie tho, as we really don't spend that much. Went to the movies, I think twice, but can only remember one movie we saw! Dolphin Tales.....good family movie. Concert (Leann Rimes) was in a tent, they had swamp coolers but it was still hot. Chairs were old kitchen type chairs that were about 14" in diameter and no space inbetween them. I had a large person to my right and DH is big.....you can guess the rest! I didn't much care for her choice of songs, last year was better. Well, I have month of paperwork to do, DH is going to see the accountant at 9:30 this am.
Here is a video link of our Old West Town, and what we currently have done.

YAY, Sugar Lusty Heat is baaaaaaaack!!!!! Welcome home, Lori! Oh I LOVED your video....so much has been added, and it is totally awesome. Thanks so much for sharing that with us, but I missed hearing your voice on this one! What an amazing Wild West town you two have built. And I loved seeing the g'kids names too....YOU ROCK! Sorry the Gambling Gods were not kind, and that you had such a crowded, and not-so-great concert. But glad you got home safely, and now you are back here with us!!!!
Having a hard morning, so your video really hit the spot! Got lots to do....hoping the "Dey-b4-Twosdey" is good for everyone! Chug-a-Lug, Finish the Mug!

Lori - love your town! Especially the potting shed and the Shady Lady - great idea to use the artificial turf. And your garden is beautiful! Ok, ok, now I feel like I've been lazy... can't even keep up with my one little raised bed!
Morning, Kathy!
I'm calling the DOTD: The Shady Lady in honor of our own...
1 oz melon liqueur
1 oz tequila
4 oz grapefruit juice
1 slice lime
1 cherry
Pour melon liqueur, tequila, and grapefruit juice over ice in a highball glass and stir. Add the slice of lime, top with the cherry, and serve.
And a few bar jokes:A man with dyslexia walks into a bra.
A termite walks into a bar and asks, "Is the bar tender here?"
A man walks into a bar where a cat is playing poker. He asks the bartender, "Is that cat playing poker?" The bartender says, "Yeah but he's not very good. Every time he has a good hand he starts wagging his tail."
Liquor is like falling in love: The first kiss is magic. The second is great. The third is usual. After that you just take your clothes off.
-
LMAO Gail! I had to read the first 2 jokes twice; had read too fast and missed the meaning! Soooo funny.....thank you! And how nice to create and dedicate a dwink to Lori's own Shady Lady!!! Awesome.
Well, I'm digging out some rotten wood, and patching, waaaaaay up high, so it is slow going. The SOB of course, DID NOT show up; doubt that DH will report him, although I think he should. My parents made a wonderful dinner last night with some chinese sausage from Hawaii, chicken, shiitake mushrooms, and snow peas....soooo ono!
ChEARS Dears!

Thanks Kat, if you look above on the shelving above the wooden bench, you can kind of see my Junie memorial. Sorry you had a bad morning, but PLEASE turn those guys in, so they don't screw someone else over.
Gail, I highly doubt you are lazy! Thanks for DOTD and the JOTD....but I will admit, I don't get the termite one
.... is it cuz he wants to munch on the bar? Ooooo, I'm so embarrased! -
Kathy - I wouldn't wait too long to report the guy. I once gave a contractor &10k to start a kitchen and bath remodel job on one of my parents' houses and he disappeared. The friend who had recommended him said I shouldn't have done that (after the fact) as he has a drug problem. Gee, thanks for the tip. I was very young... he kept stringing me on and I did finally see him again. He shoed up at the house with a bathroom cabinet that was bigger than the bathroom (wonder who that belonged to?) but didn't even take it off the trailer because it was obviously not going to work. He had already entered the house and was trying to remove the existing bathroom cabinets and fixtures. I told him I wanted to see the new cabinet before tear-out (duh) and he left and never came back. About a year later the DA caught up with him & he was facing multiple fraud charges. Hope your guy doesn't have a drug habit... Maybe he's just a really good craftsman and he is really busy.
Yes, Lori, munch munch!

Just got the quote to fix my car. $4500. The car is probably worth less than that. DH wants to take it to another shop but I'm not feeling good about this situation at all. Not good timing to be replacing a car.
-
I need to apologize for some postings I did Friday night that were really off-kilter and offensive. I think they're deleted now (hopefully). I had no recollection of making them, and it wasn't until I was reading other posts on Saturday morning that I saw them. Fortunately, not much alcohol was involved Friday night, but I had taken an Ambien. This is the second time Ambien has given me a blackout (if that's what it's called), but DH didn't complain the first time it happened (if you get my drift). So, 1) I've asked DH to keep the laptop (and car keys) away from me after I've taken an Ambien, and 2) I'm going to check with my doc about other sleep med alternatives. It's a very scary feeling to think things could happen that you have absolutely no recollection of the following day. Also, my userid is now different, but my HTL moniker is still Montana Night Fire (I think...) My job involves cancer patients and their caregivers, and I have referred a few breast cancer patients to th bcorg site for information. God forbid should one of them have happened upon my Ambien-induced ramblings. Double "
" -
*whew* (wiping brow) Sheryl, sooooo glad you had no recollection of those posts you deleted (I was one of the gals that read them), because that didn't sound like you at all!!!! However, one of the rules here at the HTL is: NO APOLOGIES!!! So you are off the hook...LOL. But VERY scary that you could blackout from that med. LOL at your DH not complaining the first time...are you sure he hasn't spiked your drink with it hoping for a repeat performance? J/K! Very, very scary to think of how strong that is, that it makes you not realize what you are doing. Hoping you won't have to take that very often. Is there another sleep aid that might work better for you? I mean, it sounds like that one knocks you out, but maybe one that lets you sleep, but be more coherent? Too bad melatonin won't do the trick for you (Lori takes 20mg when needed, and I take 5mg, which *usually* works for me). Glad to have you back with us!!!!
Gail, OMG that is awful that the contractor took you for that much money!!! My mom was scammed outside of Walmart a few yrs ago, and the girls had her take out over $15k in cash, that she handed to them. THEN she realized, too late, what had just happened. Well, this is not a case of a good contractor who is just too busy....they painted over ROT, and I am digging out what I can get to. And the parts they replaced were done so terribly we might have to have that redone too, plus they missed entire areas they thougth we couldn't see. Gotta get DH to want to report them. I think he worries they might retaliate (sp?). YIKES on the car repair $$$$....I think my DD is going to face a similar estimate. SO hard to know when to stop putting money for repairs vs buying a new one. Good idea to get another estimate though, if you feel up to it. Seems like everything goes wrong at once, or when you are so busy! So sorry about that.
Oh, I need to post a message Junie's DD sent me,and I was wondering if she saw the little memorial Lori made? Maybe I will search for it and send it to her. Can't copy now, as I will lose this post. BUT stay tuned....will post it here sometime today........she is such a sweetie.
Oh, lookie Pants made up an entire barfull of our Shady Lady DOTD's........yummmmmmmm!
-
Goldie, that is simply awesome! How cool is that, you must have lots of space to play around with. Loved the video, will look forward to seeing more. Definitely toasting you with at least one DOTD, but might be back for more.
Sheryl, you aren't the first person I have heard having that type of dramatic reaction to Ambien. Have your tried Lunesta? I have taken that here and there and had no issues.
Sorry to all for the contractor woes, mean people $uck! Makes me love my condo living...
Anyway, happy end of Monday to all (or almost end for the west coast folks). Cheers, Scuby. -
OMG Lisa did you mention the "M" word? LOL.....out of respect for our DorK who refers to it as the "dey before Tuesday"....we *try* not to say that dreaded "M" word. I am really LMAO though, as you prolly hadn't even noticed that before. But you did say "happy end of (insert the M word)"...and I can imagine DorK is glad it is almost over...I think this is her first FULL day back at work too. You are SO right....mean people $uck!!! Glad you mentioned Lunesta for Sheryl....my mom used to be on one of those, but then her dr was glad I started her on melatonin as he thinks it is better to take that, IF it works for ya. But boy when you need sleep, I would take whatever works, also!!! Cheerio!!!!
Lori, by any chance do you know what page you posted your Junie memorial on? Want to show it to Junie's DD.
Is it Pau Hana time yet??? Oh yeah...DUH...it is ALWAYS Pau Hana time at the HTL!!! Gonna dwink some more Shady Lady's..........
-
I had a lovely weekend with my besties from high school. I am at work trying hard to stay awake and barely have a voice. Today is my first day back full time and it has been a long day. My legs are killing me from walking the beach and also up and down to the roof top deck.
Sheryl, no worries on your posts, silly little gal. I hope I remember your new name. Good luck with finding a new drug for sleep.
Wahine, sorry those shmucks stiffed you. I say report them. I hate to see people take advantage of people. I have been a victim and do all I can to make good. Otherwise, I can send my people.
Lori, are you referring to the Miller Light n foil memorial or did I miss something. Hope your weekend was as fun as mine.
Lori, nice to see you back, yippee. When is the official debue of the shady lady? I want a VIP pass to attend.
Gail, loved the jokes. And drinks, yay, I am thirsty and almost time to go home, yippee. The day before Tuesday is almost over. Sorry about the cost of the car, yikes. I just spend a grand on maintenance on mine. To think, I paid 75.00 for my first car.
Gotta split, sorry I missed some of you, been biddy doing tings lol. I now have to deal with my nasty house with the wall torn down, having an extermintar come tomorrow to spray for ants and termites. It smells moldy as the drywall is off, ewwww. Always something...
mY FRIEND cINDY is not doing well, not expected to live more than a week. keep praying for her and her family. I am so sad but know God has a plan for her and I must not get angry.
See you fine chicks later. Love ya!
-
The m* word shall forever be banned, no matter what you call it, am just damn glad to get through it!
Sorry to bump you DorK, hope the first day full wasn't so bad. When is your next PT? -
That DOTD sounds amazing, will have to try it. Spent the whole weekend painting my kitchen, so took a break today to go to the movies and then a liquid lunch. We went to see 50/50, and let me tell you showing up first at the box office and being alone while purchasing my ticket with my scarf covering my head was kinda funny. So was sitting down in the theatre by myself. People must have thought I was in a pretty bad way to have chosen to see that movie by myself, lol. Was happy when my girlfriends finally showed! The movie was good, liquid lunch better! Dirty martini with blue cheese stuffed olives, yum! Now catching up with you girls before making dinner for the fam.
I watched the wild west video; is that your back yard? Amazing!
I also enjoyed the JOTD, but like Goldie didn't get the termite one, lol.
As for sleep aids, I have adverse reactions to everything except melatonin. However, the only melatonin that works for me is extended release. I can only find it at a compounding pharmacy here in 3 mg tabs, so I take two at night and it works. Good luck, no sleep sucks.
Also, being new on here, what does DH stand for? Thinking H is for husband? But can't decide if the D means Dear, Drunk, or maybe Dumb? Lol. Also DD? Gonna go start on dinner and open a bottle of Vino while waiting to find out.... -
Dis for dear (even if tongue in cheek). So. dH is dear husband, DD is dear daughter (with # if applicable), DSis dear son (can add IL if needed). I'm the newbie here, sure there are more.
Making dinner as well, rack of lamb, which DH inadvertently removed from freezer yesterday, not a typical week night dinner, but whattheheck. Will have a glass of red wine in the prep. Cheers! -
Thanks Scuby! Making Elk tenderloin here, DH is a big hunter. Cheers back atcha!
-
Lynnyloo - why you had dwugs at 2 in the afternoon and you not share?
Duchess - there is a list of acronymns somewhere on the site but we added some that they overlooked...
DOTD = dwinkeepoo o' the day
JOTD = joke of the day
HTL = Hot Tatties Lounge
SOB = some other biotch
WD = Wiener Dog (quite popular here)
WTF= where's the frosting?
-
LMAO Gail at your WTF acronym!!! I am having brain freeze (sounds so much better than "senior moment") and can't remember that neat acronym that Junie thought up. Totally blank!
-
WooHoo Pau Hana time!!!!! Keep 'em coming Pants!!!! Might even have enuf and then jump into the pool and use the swim up bar again. Haven't been there for awhile.....
-
I'm sure there are many others... I couldn't think of Junie's acronym either... hmmm...

DH called the dealership & thinks he can get the car fixed for $3700. Woopee. He was all happy about it too. Told him I couldn't talk which is supposed to mean I'm with a client but I just didn't want to cry about my car. It's raining.
Pau Hana you say? Yes please!
-
Gail, my DD's van ended up with a $5k estimate after her fender bender on Monday. They decided to haul it to the junk yard. Wasn't your first estimate $4k? And DH lowered it to $3700? Yeah, I would have pleaded being too busy to talk too! Unfrickingbelievable the prices they get to fix cars!!! Thats why we gave our wagon away when it was still drivable but were told it needed $$$ repairs. BUT I think we were told incorrectly, as the new owners were told it was fine, so are still driving it! But they needed a car badly so I am glad it has held up for them. A guy left his number from a craigslist ad we just put in for a boat top we have to sell....will set up an appt in the DAYTIME! But will be nice to get it out of the garage, just taking up space.
Anyone watching DWTS and Playboy Club tonight??? Maybe we can serve some champagne during the shows???? And brie, and.......(maybe those cute guys from Gail's Pau Hana pic????).....
-
All right cars and contractors are on the $hit list for the week! Hope all of that gets better. I sent Mrs. Vino the info on the abbreviations in a PM, there are a lot, but agree that this thread definitely has some special ones!
Actually reading a book for the first time in ages (on my iPad, thus able to switch back and forth). Still a good sign that I can actually read and retain something, haven't been for a while. Must be the red wine I had with dinner!
Cheers all! -
Watcha readin Duchess?
Guess what those two trades - construction and auto mechanics - have in common? Male-dominated. Hmm. I used to have a woman mechanic and she was awesome. They are hard to find and then they usually work for a man anyway. For that kind of money the mechanic should look more like this
-
and he should dance while he works...
-
One of the Rizolli and Isles books. Definitely only up for fiction.
And he should never over bill you, not deliver when he says he will or generally be a turd in anyway shape or form. That's enough rant.
Pants, one more glass of wine please! -
Whoa! Maybe you should purchase an auto-body shop and do all the hiring, Gail! Quite a specimen there. "Just $5k to fix my car? Sure, and take all the time you need.....*sigh*...". LOL
-
... I'll just wait in the lobby... LOL
-
fun, Duchess. I prefer fiction too. DH doesn't like fiction so we are always having these debates about historical fiction... loved it when we found out two of his favorite books were fiction: "Three Cups of Tea" contained exaggerations and "A Million Little Pieces" contained major fabrications.
-
Thanks, Loungettes, for your kind words. I tried melatonin when sleep problems first became an issue - like 15 years ago. I was on clonazepam till about February, but got tired of the ever-increasing dosage issues, AND going through icky withdrawals if (heaven forbid) I forgot to get my monthly refill before a weekend. The melatonin didn't work then, but maybe it would now. Certainly worth a try, eh? And Gail, I don't break out the "good meds" till bedtime, lol!!
So, I have an idea for a fun thing. The DWTS segment this week focused on a song that illustrated a memorable year for the star dancers. Most of those memorable years were about sad things. I'd like to hear the Loungettes share their the memory about their most joyful year. What was the year, what it made it your most joyful year, and what song would you choose to commemorate it? To start this off, my most joyful year was 2006. I had started the year out with surgery and radiation---sad stuff. But the cancer experience was THE biggest factor in my decision to uproot my almost 30 years in WA State and move back to my home state in the midwest to be with my parents and siblings. I knew I was going to leave very close friends and an absolutely wonderful career. Knowing the finality of this period of my life made me really cherish the mundane events of that year. It also made it easier to live life outside of my comfort zones and do things that I normally would not have done. The experiences of that year left me with joyful memories that will last a lifetime. Which leads to the song that commemorates that year for me...The Beatles, "My Life". Let's all give a big HTL shout out to the "people and things that went before..."
Just read Kathy's suggestion about having brie and champange with our DWTS and Playboy Club shows. Definitely Second That Emotion
Oohh..and how about some bruschetta and a roasted garlic clove to have with the brie?? Heavenly delights for a mundane evening -
OK...I have a really cute joke to share that's in a .jpg format. How do I copy it and paste it here? Tried all of two or three "normal" ways I know to copy and paste. Would Gail and NM please please share your secrets?
