Thnaks, kad2kar. Last call for my shift.
Susie, how about a mimosa or bloody mary???
-
Just went out and bought a new microwave!!! While we were away my wages kept building up in my account, so I plan to do some things I've wanted to do for ages. The old one was over 25 years old!!!
-
Blue, glad the adjustment worked for you. Athena, glad you are feeling well! Cherryl, keep up the good work. Susie, good on you! Go All Blacks! GO RAYS!! Rosemary, meant to tell you how happy I am your fur baby has been diagnosed and is on the mend.
-
Hey where's Kira? Missing her!
-
Morning, all. I am off to my club once again for either a vinyasa yoga class, a cycling class or just to do some exercise on my own. The cool weather is what propels my energy to exercise on a Sunday morning.
Fascinating conversation we are having on "ancient customs" to deal with menstruation - lol. I really don't envy people living before the Age of Tampax, and before that Age When, If You Had Awful Periods, It Was Taboo to Complain. I remember being embarrassed having my father know that my period pain was keeping me in bed as a teenager - that one is probably ageless. These days, I have gotten to the point where I don't even care if my male director at work knows. Shameless!

It's amazing what we put up with for so long. Hopefully, relief is on the way relatively soon.
Forgot to add that I'm glad Rosemary's litty is on a path to the mend.
Holding up coffee for an early mroning toast to everyone's good health.

Two elderly ladies had been friends for many decades. Over the years they had shared all kinds of activities and adventures. Lately, their activities had been limited to meeting a few times a week to play cards. One day they were playing cards when one looked at the other and said, "Now don't get mad at me....I know we've been friends for a long time.....but I just can't think of your name! I've thought and thought, but I can't remember it. Please tell me what your name is." Her friend glared at her. For at least three minutes she just stared and glared at her. Finally she said, "How soon do you need to know?"

A man gets a hearing aid...
He thinks it's fantastic...starts telling his buddy how wonderful it is and how much more he can hear with it.
"What kind is it?" asks the buddy.
"Two-thirty, " he responds.

Hahahahaha! Good ones, Blue. Laughter is a great way to start the day.
And Ray and the puppies are quite handsome in their fall gear!
-
Blue .. everyone looks fabulous in their fall gear! Too cute!
It's cold here this a.m. I had to put the furnace on. First time since last winter and the smell nearly gagged me. I am dreading having to buy fuel oil. At $350 for 100 gallons (which doesn't last long), I'm in a bit of a panic. It's not supposed to be this cold the beginning of October!
Of course Tim called and was warning me about carbon dioxide or monoxide (don't know which one it is) poisoning. A little late for that I think. I suggested he should have checked the furnace when he was home yesterday, rather than waiting to see if I keeled over or not.
Hope everyone has a great day!

Hi all, I am still around, just so very busy these days. Most days I get home and just park myself in the chair till bed time. I will be seeing the Onc. on Thursday, and plan to talk to him about the extreme tiredness I have. I'm thinking it's the Femara, but will see if he agrees with that. If so will see what he suggests. I literally feel like I could sleep all day.
On another note my DH has skin cancer and goes in this week for surgery, so life is full of surprises it seems. I'm just hoping it hasn't spread to much. For 2 years our family Dr. has said it's nothing. I was the one who told him to push the guy to send him to a Dermatologist.
-
{{Kira}} sending up prayers for your DH. Good for you getting him to see a dermatologist!
-
Oh Kira
-
Kira .. I'm so sorry to hear about your DH and his skin cancer. I hope it's squamous cell or basal cell and not a melanoma. I'm so glad you kept after your doctor for a dermatology referral.
I don't know if Femara causes that much fatigue. I had a lot of problems with Arimidex. I know I was so tired for so long that my doctor prescribed some medication for me. She prescribed Adderall, which has helped with my energy and focus.
Rosemary .. hope Bobba is better today.
Athena .. I hope you're enjoying this weather. It's too cold for me! I brought up a little space heater from the basement and the dogs and I are huddled in my guest room/office with the computer and the little t.v. on for football. We're very cozy in here!
Blue .. did you make a pie with all those apples? We had so little rain this summer that my apple crop was really bad. I didn't even get enough to make a pie .. and I have two apple trees.
Hope everyone is having a good day.

Bren~
You made me laugh about the furnace...always tend to get the advice after the fact.
-
I can't believe how much energy I have two months after I got off Femara. It caused me to be soooo tired but I didn't realize it until I stopped taking it.
Bobba wouldn't eat at the vet and now she's giving us a hard time if we don't get her food down on the floor fast enough. She is much better. Back to the vet in a week.
Blue your fur babies are so cute in their sweaters.
-
((((((((((Kira)))))))))
Thanks ladies. The pooches are my medicine! They make me laugh.
Still doing good on this setting. The pain in my shoulder has moved to my lower back. I will try to increase tomorrow and it might move to my nails. hehe! One can only hope!
Had to go get my ears flushed earlier today so am feeling a bit water logged. Nothing new there!!!!
Bren, I had to turn on the furnace here too this morning. First day I haven't had a hot flash....too cold. Ray had to bring in my oleanders. It's too early to be this damp and cold. Hope it clears up some next week. With the fence up, we have contracted to have interlock done in the backyard, and the only thing standing in the way is the weather.
Home-made pizza in the oven.
-
Good to hear Bobba is so hungry!!!
Kira - hope your DH is OK after the surgery.
I'm at work - makes it hard when you can hear drilling and hammering from the office next door which is being renovated - not that I have anything concrete to do yet.
I've decided I like travelling instead of working.
Sue
-
Rosemary, glad to hear Bobba is eating up a storm!
-
Had frost on the pumpkin this morning........and grass. Put on the furnace and now it's 65 and a beautiful sunny day. Cut down some things in the garden. I sure hate that time of the year.
We drove around today to see what would be a pretty place to have a family picture taken on the 23rd. Found three places and hope that the colors may hang on till then.
Packers and Brewers are playing at the same time this afternoon....What am I doing on the computer?
-
BLUE---your Ray and the babies are so cute. BREN---do be careful with the heating, you are better off with the small heater[until electricity gets knocked out.I worked at Petrolane propane back in the 70s and thought it was so expensive then.It was heartbreaking talking to and reading letters from the folks in the EAST that needed time and help to pay those atrocious bills, and throw in not able to work because things closed down during the severe storms. ROSEMARY---so glad BOBBA is better,if a cat cant wait for food to be set down[ and they can then royally walk over to eat]you know the baby wasnt well and is GOOD now.I would so love to send all back east and up north at least 1/4 of our weather. It is over 100 f or c. ARTSEE--- hurry up on down. kad2kar
-
artsee, you are multi-tasking. Turn on the radio and the TV. Keep the TV volume down unless it looks like something exciting is happening in the game you're watching; at that point, switch them around and listen to the TV for awhile. I missed it all, having spent most of the afternoon at a walk-in clinic to get cipro for the UTI I seem to have developed.

We had a low of 39 last night, here in central AL. It wasn't a record, but it was close. Temps should be going back up toward normal this week, though. I hope your temps get warmer, too (everybody except Susie, who's probably hoping things stay moderately cool for awhile as she approaches summer).
Fall just might be my favorite season here in the Deep South. The wonderful weather starts in September and lasts until after Thanksgiving. Leaves start to turn in early October (right about now), and the colors keep shifting to different types of trees until December, when the last of the leaves finally come down. The yellow poplars ("tulip trees") are the first to turn, along with the sweetgums. White oaks and some of the hickories are probably the last.
Then we have a few weeks of winter (mid-December through January or early February), and things start greening up again.
OTOH, I spent the first 30 years of my life up in the general area where artsee is. Although Fall is really colorful there, it lasts such an awfully short time.... about two weeks, IIRC. Then it's cold and gray for months and months. Can you tell I wasn't a big fan of snow and super-cold temperatures? Some people handle those winters a lot better than I did. Most of my blood relatives actually claim to enjoy the cold, snowy winters.
Well, tomorrow is my annual boob-squish and follow-up with my BS. (Did I announce that already?) Everyone is invited. My May '08 chemo sisters will all be there (virtually), and one of them is bringing lemon creme kolaches to snack on before, between, and after the appointments. Then we're all going to the lake. (I wish this was all true. We pretend things like this, to keep ourselves calm and content.)
Time for supper. We're having venison stew, and dh is helping even though it's my turn.

We already know it's melanoma. Please keep us in your prayers!!!
-
Oh, kira.... hugs to you and your hubby.
-
otter,
Keeping you in my thoughts for your annual boob job. Oh how I know how that makes us stress. I see my Onc. this week for my 6 month!
-
(((((((((((((((((((((((((((KIRA and DH)))))))))))))))))))))))))
-
Kira ... I'm so sorry to hear this. What day is your DH's surgery .. so we can keep you company. Keeping everything crossed that all the cancer is removed in surgery.
Sending hugs,
Bren
-
((Otter)) In your pocket for the mammo!
Insomnia bites. I think it is because I am excited to see the Rays play the Rabgers at 5 PM today.
-
Kira - we're all with you for a VERY, VERY early stage - maybe even "pre" - my experience was the pathology came back as "definitive" when it really wasn't - just to make sure the doc had me back in for a re-excision.
Otter - mammo, "Oh, Bother" - tell the tech not to squeegie your pockets, they're filled!
Artsee - frost, oh, I never thought I'd say this, but I'm looking forward to frost - if it will kill the DAMN mosquitoes - yikes, they really seem to THRIVE in the rain, ponds, worse than they were in the height of the summer.
Blue - good to hear the adjustment may be working
Bren - what's Adderall and where do I buy GALLONS of it??? Relaly increased your energy??? This fatigue ( asthenia, per astrazenaca!) is buildning. 10 hours of sleep, with a 3 hr afternoon "nap" is not QOL! Plus, I'm back to needing wrist splints to sleep - bring ont he Adderall, whatever it is!
-
Morning Everyone!
Sunflowers .. Adderall is a stimulant medication used to treat AD/HD in adults and children. I take 1/2 a pill in the morning and 1/2 in the afternoon. Mostly it just helps me to stay focused and get things done.
Otter .. hoping for a 'normal' mammogram today.
Kira .. my dad had melanoma and it was all removed with surgery. I am monitored for melanoma twice a year since I've had skin cancer since I was 29. Keeping you and your DH in my thoughts. I know it's scary right now.
Athena .. we've got your kind of weather this a.m. Cold and sunny! Just hoping the sun warms up the house so I don't have to turn the dreaded furnace on again. Tim called last night and told me not to run it at night until he's had a chance to check it out. What??? I was running the thing yesterday a.m. and nothing bad happened. I don't know why he didn't check the stupid thing out when he was home on Saturday! Of course, he's in sunny Florida right now. ha!
Artsee .. know what you mean about the time of year to clean out the flower beds. It means summer is over and fall is on the way. My zinnias are still blooming and a couple of the roses, so I'm going to leave them in a while longer.
Hope everyone has a great day!
Bren
