Weird Pains Here & There since BMX
Since my BMX in 2/11 and the entire TE-to-implants exchange I will experience weird pains. Like I was convinced I had an arm/mets issue b/c my SNB arm ached for a week(had an xray it was fine) and eventually pain went away. Since then I'll just hurt in spots...not all the time, but enough to bug me! My rib, my chest, my back, my non-SNb arm. Sometimes the aches last a couple hours and sometimes a couple days. I've also had a chest xray since all this(pre-porcedure) and my ribs are fine. So now I wonder if it's just in my head OR could it be a reaction to having implants(something foreign in my body?) Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this? Hoping it's just part of the healing process. It doesn't affect my daily activites as the aches are tolerable when they happen, but just makes my brain worry!! Any advice would be appreciated!!!

It could be from so many things. If you are in chemopause and the fact that your body is not producing estorgen can cause aches and pains. I had 2 nodes removed and now my left arm (sn taken from) is 1 inch larger circumference wider than my right. The fluid on the left side of my chest flows different now since they removed a couple lymph nodes. I believe chemo caused me to age 20 years and I am in chronic pain everyday. Or, like you said, it is part of your healing process. You look very young in your picture. If you take tamoxifen it is notorious for causing pain. Glad to hear all your tests came back negative!!

Shannon-- The first year after my implant exchange sounds a lot like yours. I had rib pain just below the right implant that lasted for months. A scan showed nothing. Then my lower back would ache-- again, nothing. My dr. insisted it was just part of being middle-aged (43), but of course every ache and pain is scary. On the other side, I sometimes felt like I was having a heart attack-- the implant pressed so heavily on my chest and ached. I think some of the rib and back pains were due to the implants-- just too much extra weight on my frame (I went from a half an A cup to almost a C-- foolish now in hindsight)-- and my body was out of alignment. I started pilates-- very basic level-- and that has helped with the back issues. Sometimes just carrying a heavy bag or groceries or making a weird movement will lead to these pains again-- esp. the rib pain. But you are smart to get anything new or unusual checked out-- peace of mind is key.-- Julie

No, I didn't have chemo or need to take tamo. Just weird ,pains. Could just be age(41yo) but feel like everything that happens to me now is breast cancer related. I also worry that maybe my body isn't liking the implants. But then I feel like the discomfort would be much more severe and lingering. Pilates is a good idea. May DVR some shows on tv to try on my days off. I rolly just need to be patient. It's only been 7 months from diagnosis to where I am now. I have to remember it took me 3 years after my last baby to feel totally "normal" again. The body healing and aging is a process that takes time. Thanks for the input !!!

Hi Shannon Just wanted to say that I had a BMX 1 year ago and did not do breast implants and I have had all kinds of pain and issues throughout the entire year. I have had seroma issues and hematoma issues. I think the surgery itself can cause these types of things and depending on your current health and other issues will eventually iron itself out. I currently am dealing with a lump that I have had for the last three months and seroma which comes and goes depending on the amount of exercise I am getting. I am really trying to lose a few pounds but have spent the the whole summer walking and doing what exercise I can and only lost 4 lb.s, my doctor says I am not very patient but she doesn't get how hard it is just to have done that. I don't take pain meds. or any other meds. unless I have to. I do have high blood pressure. This lump I have is very worrisome, I had my regular doctor look at it and she said she didn't think it was anything. I really wanted her to at least send me for some kind of test to just make sure, then the therapist looked at it and said the same thing. I tried to get an appt with my surgical doctor and she is on maternity leave and the nurse put me off. It is hard to deal with these things on a day to day basis but we do it all the time. I hope you get this resolved and wish you calming thoughts. It is a struggle every day because we have to worry about the outcome of any thing different now. Hugs and Peace to you.

I have had some "weird" pains, too. My biggest one is in my ribs on my left side. Hurts more than it feels good, but like others have written, I have had it checked and everything look fine. I don't think it has anything to do with the size of the breast pre vs. post op. I ended up (not by choice) with much smaller breasts than before - and still have the discomfort. My doctor said more than anything else, it was probably just how the implant was sitting. Funny, though, my pain is on the side where I feel like I am aware 24/7 that I have the implant in. The other side feels very natural and I don't really notice it. Likewise, I never have the weird pain on that side, so who knows???

I definitely had aches and pains as well. My ribcage under my implant especially. When I asked my plastic surgeon about it, he said it was likely due to the alloderm matrix which was stitched in near those ribs. The pain has since subsided. Did you have alloderm by chance? That might explain the rib pain.

me too! My ribs on the rads side hurt. My ps insists it's normal and should go away. It's been almost a year since my exchange surgery. Lately i have periodic burning sensations in the upper outer area of my chest. I think the nerves trying to regenerate cause a lot of uncomfortable sensations. I have never been to the Dr about any of my discomfort....I am over going to the dr! I figure it'll stop eventually. We had major surgery and these damn foobs are heavy (much bigger than I wanted) and I just think my whole body was 'disturbed' and will take time to calm down.
