I was too late getting to Shoppers to take a pic, but here is the one posted on the Wellspring Niagara website. Wish I had a close-up of the actual quilting -- it's so intricate and lovely. The quilters meet every Thursday a.m. at our local library and "do their thing"!
-
Just lovely, Linda! Well done!
Athena, my team won. We swept the Yankees and the Red Sox got thrashed by Baltimore. And then my team won last night beating the Rangers 9-0. I am going to see them paly the Rangers Monday. WooHoo!
-
Linda - really, really beautiful.
Ok, we in MA are still mourning the Red Sox. But happy Barbara has a good season in front of her. The calamatous ( is that a word?) way it ended for "our" team, does bring back thoughts of "The Curse of the Bambino." But ''''shudders, shudders'''' that couldn't happen again. Remember they are the Jimmy Fund too....even if you don't like them as a "team" - they do, do good things ;-)
RAIN. more RAIN, RAIN. Did I mention we've gotten a great deal of RAIN lately?????
-
Beautiful Linda.
-
See? All it takes is a close look at a beautiful quilt like the one Linda showed us, and I'm deciding my next pasttime will be quilting. Sure, it will. Last year it was knitting squares for the Community Afghan project. I now have 3 bins of nice acrylic yarn, dozens of knitting needles, and ... no squares yet.
Maybe once I retire, I'll have time for such things. (Yeah, I know. I'm already retired. What was that, about motivation?) My dh and I joke with each other: "Maybe once we retire, we'll be able to travel to Alaska again"; or, "Maybe once we retire, we'll have time to make bird houses"; etc. Then we laugh.
All I know is that I'd better live a long, healthy life; 'cause I have too many things to do!

Lovely quilt Linda!! I made one for our bed and we use it every winter. I'm making a block of the month quilt when I haven't got any cross stitch to do - nasty iron on one from Pine Needles my mother bought in Alaska.
A strong wind has sprung up here, filling the pool with leaves. It's a bit cool, but I'm up early to go to the markets. Poppy was snuggled up against my legs on the bed last night - now she's running around doing crazy stuff.
Athena - the job is not the one going to Shanghai. Don't think I could cope with going away again so soon. I don't approve of outsourcing, so why should I help them do it.
Blue - going apple picking sounds SO good - I wished we lived in the country.

Hey guys, I'm having a wonderful day. I was able to turn up my stimulator a notch after having to turn it right down. This setting hit its mark (please don't let me jinx it). We picked cooking apples and eating delicious ones. I walked and walked...no freezing! Then we went for groceries and to the flea market. My lower back is a bit sore but not bad...I'm so pleased.
Tonight we're going to a pre-season hockey game with my DD and her betrothed. Haven't seen her since they got back. Detroit vs. Toronto.
I think I'm human again and don't need to join the zombie walk. Haven't read back because I need to go get ready (game is downtown) but will do either late tonight or tomorrow. Oh Happy Days! I also have a few pics of my babies which I will post tomorow. They both had their sweaters on (it is coooooooooold) and are just too cute for words!
-
Blue - good news on the increased frequency - looking forward to baby pics

-
Oh Blue, what a greatday. I need to get apples and pumpkins and make this place look like fall. I grew gourds, so don't need any of those. It is glorious out now but not that warm.
-
Back from the markets - no money left - only got bananas, 2 lots of fish, aoli and fudge. Should have got more money out last night. I headed straight to the banana man as there was a big queue. I didn't even look at the other stalls as there was no point.
Was I pissed off when I saw a local politician there dressed in a pink shirt and pink cap. Now this cetain person has never been seen around at the markets until a high profile guy was nominated to run against her in the next state election - now she's panicking as it will be a total wipe out come next March. I felt like going up to her and asking what was her experience of bc - stupid bitch.
Sorry for the swearing if I've offended anyone

Sue
-
Blue - hurray for good health and a good feeling - I so know what you mean (albeit differently). It is wonderful. May this last forever. I have been feeling very good (as in healthy) lately too.
-
Good to hear you are feeling well Athena!!!
-
Sunflowers,
I have a dear friend who is a diehard Red Sox fan. I had to take her out for a "pastoral care" dinner Thursday night. She's recovering slowly!!
-
Thank you, Susie!
Cherryl, that's too sweet. I do remember now....I saw a documentary ages ago about when the Red Sox won the World Series (banging hand on forehead - it's baseball , duh!) and how incredibly proud and traumatized in a good way people were. They interviewed Ed Harris, who happens to be one of my favorite actors and is also a diehard Sox fan.
-
Athena,
I see from the prayer thread) that we something in common (or had). I am a wild and crazy Episcopalian. Who else would have a job as a hospital chaplain and a cursing, left leaning bartender!!!
ETA Maybe I should learn to type!

We are having grand final matches in our football codes over here. One was on last night (Australian Rules football) and we are glad a certain team didn't win. Tonight we have another one (Rugby League) where one team is from NZ - guess who I'm going for
Also the world cup Rugby is on in NZ - and only one team in that for me - the All Blacks. It was good to see an American side participating. It's quite cold - we have the french doors closed against the wind - strange for spring in this part of the world. Feel like going back to bed and snuggling up.
Sue
-
Cheryl, that is SO SO SO sweet of you to do for your friend - Pastoral Care needed statewide here!
(((((OTTER)))))) - boy did you make me laugh! It was as if a voice in my head was talking to me. Wool, buckets full, some so moth eaten, I had to put it in the garden for bird nests. The next year, sure enough, when the wind blew bird's nests out of the trees, there were bits&bobs of my wool.
Needlepoint, started sweaters, sculpey, paper making, papier mache supplies, and I live in a very VERY small cabin, smaller, I would think than Thoreau managed to survive in. BOOKS, did anyone mention books still to be read? A dear friend, referred to getting a book, as like "buying an option to read it later." Makes great sense to me. I habitually write the date I buy a book in the inside cover, right now I"m reading one I bought in a used book store, 9/20/02. As it was written in 1865 ( Penguin edition, 1988) I feel I'm not that late reading it

So, Otter, we're gonna have to live long, LONG, LONG lives to get it all done. That's my plan, an I'm stickin' to it.
Athena, thinking of you, and HOW MUCH BETTER you are going to feel after the office procedure. My doc was SO angry with me I hadn't been in to see her sooner - all I can remember, is being in the middle of Kathmandu, Nepal ( vacation) trying to explain to pharmacist ( chemist?) wee little street vendor/stall, what I needed. ( Tampax) - funny now, NOT THEN. Saw the doc as soon as I got back to London, and she YELLS at me - laughed with me when I described that most recent "problem" but when she "looked" she said NO WONDER....sometimes I wish life were easier. BTW, resolution to problem, not translatable, and little hotel must have wondered why I need so many towels, and washed them myself.
DId I mention RAIN. I know, I know, but it's only supposed to last for 3 more days, and then we might get snow. Have to remember to get my cross country skis, and snowshoes out of the basement.
Happy dreams everyone - tho, I guess SusieQ is just waking up? With so many of us on the A Team, we could probably talk anytime of the day/night?
-
Sunflowers - not just waking up - 11:15am to be precise

-
on Sunday????
it's 9:15pm Saturday in western MA
-
I am old enough to find it just a wee bit strange, disorienting, that we have this technology to talk to each other, on different sides of the word, in real time on DIFFERENT days....
-
Yes, it's Sunday

Just finished doing that application for the better job at work. I might log in to work and send it so I can't change my mind over night.
Sue
-
SusieQ - SEND IT IN - and we'll all cross our fingers on both sides of the oceans for you to get it.
Happy tomorrow
which is what your today will be for us. Now, I'm really going to sleep.Nite, all....
-
Sent it - can't take it back now

Sleep well
sue
-
Good luck Susie!!!
-
Good luck!

Blue...My brain has a mind of it's own. I LOVE that. I hope you don't mind but I'm using that line from here on out.
Back from a weekend at the 'Women of Faith ' conference.I'm pooped, inspired, and uplifted. I'm off to bed so I can relax and get some sleep. I think I'm getting too old for those long days and nights in the big city of Milwaukee. I did thank God many times for the good health that I am experiencing at the present time. I can not forget that.I saw so many people that have a lot of problems, that shared their stories, even though they looked 'perfect' from the outside.
Good night all.
-
Thanks girls - I won't be upset if I don't get it - I really would prefer to keep doing 100% programming, but given the current outsourcing thing going on, I had to try. We will still do new projects in-house, but there's not much funding available at the moment. We should find out tomorrow what projects are in the pipeline. I keep hoping they will do a claims system for our big insurance co in NZ - I'll jump at that one.
-
