you know, it was... long and worth it!  The drive was part of the adventure, for example I went by the St. Louis arch on the way home, was there in my childhood.

for this trip, I bought a GPS device and love it!  On the way down, I stopped once for an hour nap and later on another hour for lunch.  On the way home, I drove pretty much straight through, stopping once for gas and several times for rest area stretch breaks and vending machine coffee.
