The Lymphedema Diagnosis and Treatment Cost Saving Act of 2011, HR 2499, has been reintroduced. Please visit http://www.lymphedematreatmentact.org/ for more information and to contact your members of Congress, urging that they pass this bill.

Lymphedema results in swelling of a body part, or parts, when lymphatic vessels and/or lymph nodes are inadequate, damaged or removed. Breast cancer survivors are at a greatly increased risk for acquiring lymphedema.

This bill will ensure that lymphedema patients receive comprehensive treatment coverage for their care, including coverage for compression garments and other supplies. There are many simply ways you can support passage of this bill - please visit http://www.lymphedematreatmentact.org/ to learn more.

Thank you for posting this MsCjay. I have LE myself and will indeed write my Congress people.

LE reduction therapy is costly, and not all insurances cover it. The garments need to be properly fitted and good quality: they too are expensive.

Women and men with breast cancer surely should rightfully be covered under health insurance for lymphedema.
