Beginning Radiation

Options

Just wondering how long the average wait is between lumpectomy/sentinel lymph node bx surgery and the beginning of radiation therapy?

I had my lumpectomy on August 4 and began my internal radiation with the SAVI on August 29 for five days. I am sure everyone's case is different.

Kathy, I had my lumpectomy/sentiinel node bx surgery on August 25 and will start my radiation on Monday.  There was a 2 week delay due to checking my Oncotype score (which was 11 so no chemo!) then took another week to get the simulation scheduled and the last x-ray (tomorrow) before starting.  I like that it worked out this way even though the waiting was hard because I am totally recovered from the surgery and feel very healthy and energetic.  What is your situation?

    Hi Nancy,

Saw my surgeon yesterday (9/29) to drain the SNB site, developed a seroma, feels MUCH better now.  She also had received the rest of the pathology reports.  My cancer was triple negative so I will be having chemo and radiation.  Am scheduled to meet with both oncologists 10/12 and 10/13 to set up my treatment plan.  I actually feel better with all the appointments made and am READY TO GO!!  Got a nice short "Chemo Haircut" today and saved the cut hair.  Maybe I can make a "hat with hair" (LOL) while I'm waiting.  Just keeping myself amused :O)

I had my last surgery on 7/26 and just started radiation on 9/26. I needed to wait until I was healed enough to start. One week into it and my stomach feels like there is a thunderstorm going off inside it.
