It's Pink October ---again

I see the local stores gearing up for October with al kinds of pink stuff for BC Awareness- pens, flashlights, hats, etc, etc.  Our newspaper is even printing there Monday papers on pink paper! And they're requesting BC folks t submit-in 2 sentences- how cancer has affected their lives.  As if 2 sentences can describe it.

Anyway, is anyone else learning to hate pink?  Or is it just me?   I'm all for bc awareness, but after years of pink Octobers aren't women aware of the importance of screenings by now?

Maybe October should become cancer awareness month?   I keep hearing of how lttle the pink merchandise actually contributes to the bc research  community.   Before anyone gets offended I do realize that some companies do contribute  goodly sums to bc reeasearch.  I guess I just dislike seeing reminders of bc everywhere I go in October.  I see it every day when I look in the mirror.  Perhaps I should just hibernate this month!

I am so with you on this. There is a great article in this month's (October, of course) Marie Claire magazine about this pink sh** and all the fundraising scams that have flourished. And if it wasn't enough BEFORE I was dx'd with br ca, ya'll know what it's like coming home from a BMX node-positive on Sept. 30 ... YIKES!
