I have been having back pain bad can this be a side effect for radiation.
-
lynniea where in your back? Is it on the rad side? I had those attacks of serious chest pain. My RO finally admitted it is pleurisy and caused from radiation. I would sure mention it to your RO.
Kate...sounds like you are killing two birds with one stone on your vacation. Nice you have a friend who can help with the dental work. Enjoy the rest of your visit.
I am pretty sore with the peeling. The node incision site is really really sore from it. Good news is today is my last reguar treatment. Then five boosts. My poor skin can finally start to recover.
Have a great day my friends...hugs to everyone!
-
today was #23 for me....2 regular and 8 boosts to go! They did the set up for the boosts today. MY 1st one will be Friday. I am on the home stretch now!!
-
Sarabob...way to go! I just finished my last regular treatment this morning. I start boosts tomorrow, I get five. So, I will be completely done on Tuesday. Can't wait! You are so close too. Glad you can see the finish line!
-
Ladies compared to Reg. treatment boost are are a piece of cake. You will do alot better now. Sooooo close.
-
So happy for you janis and sarah ... the end is near!
-
I just finished # 18 of 30 almost done
-
DONE! That's right, DONE! wootwoot!! Had my last boost this afternoon. Feels amazing to reach this point. I remember every minute of this journey with so much clarity.... Not sure how I'll celebrate, but I took the rest of the work week off to find out!! Pretty tired tonight, so I think I'll rest first.
Too those of you almost done, watch that last day. I got so many hugs my breast is killing me tonight!! LOL
For those of you soon to start boosts - I found them easier - they are so much quicker and with the beam directed to the incision the rest of your breast can begin healing.

Yay Ann!!!!!!!!!!!! Welcome to this side of the club!!!!!
-
Ann....HUGE congratulations on finishing! Awesome!
-
Irw333 I do not agree that boosts are easier than regular treatments. Sure they took less time, but they were harder on my skin.
-
Congrats Ann, Welcome to the other side of rads.
-
Wooohoooo Ann! Congratulations on making it to the other side!
-
Kate they were easier for me b/c they did not hit the whole breast. Under my breast and underarm where I had blistered the most began to heal. Hard to explain. LOL
Ann Congradulations!!!
-
Irw333 every case is different. I have not peeled or blistered. The boosts made the area that was boosted redder and caused a rash. Although I agrtee that they took less time.
-
Irw I hear you! I start boosts today and am so glad now my poor nipple (raw) will finally be spared. My underarm is awful. I woke up at 3:00 and could not get comfortable so just got up. The pain and blistering is bad under my arm. OUCH.
Kate my entire breast has had a rash for well over a week, but it is not painful. The other areas are just so sore.
-
Congrads Ann! Enjoy your extra time away from the rads appts.
For everyone else...you are more than 1/2 way through or greater! We are waiting for you on the other side. I am 4 weeks post rads...you can hardly tell that I had rads. I am back in my normal bra, wearing normal clothes and packing a swimsuit for a get away weekend. Rad txs seem like a blur. The big thing is that I don't think of cancer on a daily bases although I am being BRCA tested in a few weeks.
-
bb226 that is wonderful! I am sure we will all be where you are at very soon. Nice to hear there is life on the other side. Glad you are doing so well now!
-
Janis, I LOVE the picture!
-
*cheering you on* Can't wait till everyone is finished!!!
-
bb226 - did you burn or peel at all? I'm 3 weeks out of rads today, but the underside of breast blistered and peeled, so I am still healing. Looking forward to a real bra, but not quite yet, even though I have mostly finished peeling it still looks very tender under there. I go to MO tomorrow for the AI discussion, so I am still very much thinking about cancer. I will also do BRCA testing in a couple of weeks.
congrats to all the ladies finishing!
-
wow, sarah and janis - almost up to boosts! and most of the rest of us have passed the halfway mark. THAT feels GOOD! Want to say that ice really helps the itch - when I get one that is just killing me, i put an ice pack on it, and it goes away. Also my RO suggested Claritin or Zyrtec for the antihistamine effect without the drowsiness - haven't tried it yet but maybe it works better than the benadryl when we want to be awake. on the other hand, when we're awake at 3AM, benadryl could really help! Benadryl is exactly the same formula s Sominex, by the way. Think I'll keep some by the bedside.
congrats to everyone who has made it to the other side of RADS.
Love and light to all you dear friends! Jeana

Anybody have an enlarged Thyroid from RADS? I am schedualed for an US Oct. 5. Seems like I keep having SE's. Hard to not worry...l That is why I could not eat. I get so frustrated b/c my RO just would not listen to me...
-
I am one week post rads and doing great. I still have a rash, but I am a lot less red than i was. Also, I never had exhaustion, blistering or peeling. I've had a great time in Nashville with friends. At the same time I went to my dentist here and got a temporary bridge.I had implants done in February. If I must say so myself my bridge lookjs fantastic.Life is good.
-
Irw - I had my thyroid removed five years ago - it was enlarged. It wasn't a bad procedure and a walk in the park compared to BC. Sorry you have yet another thing to stress over. Be tough girl. ((hugs))

irw.....I had a CT scan a couple weeks ago for chest pains. They found nodules on my thyroid, but I do not believe it was enlarged. They found nodules on it (common) and they likely have been there for awhile. I had an US a couple weeks ago, and tomorrow I am having a biopsy on a couple nodes. My PCP says this is a precaution only and he expects nothing to be found. Hope he is right. Not worried though.
I did not get my first boost today as the machine was down. I see my RO tomorrow and hope he can help me with this burn. I can't even get comfortable to sleep.
-
Pat - Yes I did peel about 10 days post rads. My RO was not happy. This is the area that caused my pain for a few days. You are right that area gets very tender.
IRW33 - Just a comment about your thyroid problem. There is a link with thyroid cancer and breast cancer and the BRCA2 gene. I am glad that you are having it checked out. Even if it is thryoid cancer, it is so much easier to treat then breast cancer for what I heard.
Who is finishing this week? We are here cheering you on!!!!!
-
today is my last regular treatment!!
Yesterday when I went to treatment, the techs noticed my right arm, around my elbow, was red and very swollen. Then we noticed my arm was swollen all the way down to my hand. I told them it was tender to the touch also. While I was on the table, they called the RO nurse and then took me over to see him after my treatment. The RO and his nurse were quite concerned, as it is a sign of blood clot. Long story short, I ended up with a Doppler US to look for a blood clot. No clot, so that means it is cellulitis again. UGH! Can I ever catch a break!?!?!? I am once again on antibiotics. I am hoping we caught it early enough to keep me out of the hospital. We'll see what the RO and surgeon want to do today when I go for treatment. I am so freaking tired of all this drama!!!
-
I finished mine last Friday afternoon. Had a great weekend at New Orleans. Enjoy Saints game like I have never before. Went to exquisite restaurants and beautiful graden district/uptown walks...life is so good! I am glad that everything is behind me and I am moving forward. Thank you all for your information and encougement...this is really where I got educated and learned from day 1 of my diagnosis. I registered for the 5K run of race for the cure next month...that's my goal for now:)
-
Congrats Jenny 12000. I am flying back from Nashville this morning. I had a great time. My temporary bridge looks fantasic. My dentist did a terrific job. Today is 8 days post rads. I am still red and have a rash, but thank God no pain, peeling or blistering.
