The indian always gets blamed, and the incompetent chiefs just hide behind each other for cover. I hope your new prospect is more transparent in its MO.

But, but, but...we don't know the WHOLE STORY - and, please remember The Jimmy Fund and how much GOOOOOOOOOOD all the team does for those children - details in Emperor of All Maladies.

I NEVER trust hearing the FULL story on FAUX News.

Know nothing about team sports, love and went to college in Boston....think the athlete is a certified cad. So....Spanish homework for E. Translate the following saying:

Estoy entre la espada y la pared. Tongue out

Had to get my daughter's help - "I am among the sword and the wall?"

She has breast cancer and recently finished chemo and he is divorcing her.  What more do I need to know?  I'm not against all of Boston, just LACKEY.  Grrrrrrrr!

That is the literal translation of what in English is: "I am between a rock and a hard pace."

So there you go....when you go to Colombia and something happens that you don't understand, you can wax philosophical by saying "estoy entre la espada y la pared."

Lackey's a cad in any language. Even if he detests her, he could spare her the ignominy of the publicity at the very least.

I feel like I have abandoned ya'll as of late with my hectic schedule.

    Blue - loved the pictures!

Today I was gone all day long shopping and running errands.  Still haven't made it to the bank to get cash for Vegas and I am leaving Wed morning before the bank opens so that is a must for tomorrow.

Tomorrow - all filled up again and then I won't be on line for one week - next Tuesday night or Wed morning as I won't have internet access in Vegas and not that I will have any spare time as I need to hit those penny slot machines and get my free drinks!!

Hope everyone is doing well.  I do try to catch up and read all of the news of the group.

Hi Girls - I bought a new handbag at lunch - one fewer compartments than I would like but very nice.

Work is boring as I really don't have anything to do as my project is finishing. I am going to apply for a higher job that I saw today and see how that goes.

Barbara - any job news???  Hope it's soon.

Spent the weekend "rearranging" - Staples has stopped carrying my favorite bookcases, lovely, 3 shelf, can stack one on top of another, fold up, easy to move, NO ASSEMBLY needed - so drove around to find 3 at the nearest Staples.  Keep buying books, more books, there are more bookcases in my cabin than anyone can imagine, but cuz they stack on top of each other, makes it easy.

Now have one with just my art books, and art supplies, so I know where to find things.  Love the feeling of being organized, and it sure is cozy!  More places for books than peopleWinkand a table where I can keep my painting in process.  Off to drawing class -

Hopoe all have a lovely day.  Meant to ask, Blue, are you scheduled for an "adjustment"????

Susie - Good luck with the new job!

Jancie - Have fun!!  Do casinos still hand out free drinks?  The last few I went to made you pay.

Good morning Sunflowers, Blue, and everyone else!

It is quiet here....wondering where Bren, Lindasa, WhiteRabbit, Rosemary and Ducky are. Not sure if Otter is home yet. Hoping that AnnNYC is not drowning in work still. And the Marys...and Allison.

Update on Lackey (the Red Sox pitcher who's divorcing his wife while she's fighting breast cancer):

He blew up at the media after a game because a reporter texted him 30 minutes before the game asking about his marriage.

    Yahoo News reports this:

When asked if the text message was a distraction, Lackey said: "This is unbelievable I've got to deal with this."

Wow, don't you feel sorry for him?  What an idiot.

Enjoyful - think the media person would give use Lackey's number? We could all let him know how lack-ey he is. (wouldn't want to hurt the red sox though)

Off to VEGAS tomorrow! If anyone is looking for me - just keep an eye out for the "scuttlers" LOL!

Ducky - have you tried any of the dieuretic (sp?) herbal teas?  I'll have to go look up the one that helped me - I wanna say "horsetail" but that can't be right.

Blue - I wonder how many of us can fit in your pocket - and go with you tomorrow  Does it hurt, or anything when they do the "adjustment."  I hope not....

Yes, it's quiet - we're so used to "attacks" and "drivebys" too, this is really, really lovely.  I had a drawing class this morning -  LOVE it, and, the best part, besides enjoying the process, is I can  tell I'm improving.  I think, well, it's true for me, that as I get older I'm much more patient learning new things, and enjoying it so much.

Morning girls!!! Day off today - going for my Zometa infusion this afternoon. Not sure I'll apply for that job at work - not enough actual programming involved and I'd get upset if I didn't get it. I know I'm much more capable than the guy who had the job but is it worth the angst. Don't even know if it's more money anyway.

Had a bad night - woke up with a pain in my foot and it got worse really quickly - woke up DH and he rubbed it and it gradually eased - really weird. Scared Poppy off the bed - she must have wondered what was going on.

Barb - hope you hear about that job soon.

Blue - Lets hope they get that stmiulator working better.

Going for lunch with my friend from the bus who had an MX a few months ago.

No, Athena, I'm not quite home yet.  We're visiting dh's family in ... (wait for it)... TULSA!  (Barbara, that is where you interviewed, isn't it?)  All is well here.  We plan to be home by day-after-tomorrow, though.

I wish things would be calm once we do get home, but next week will also be hectic.

I have my annual mammogram and recheck with my BS on Monday.  Should be no problem, but you never know, do you?  The things that p*ss me off the most about the Monday stuff are 1) the nurse made the mammo appt for 9:30 a.m., even though I told her it's a 2-hour drive to get there and I'd like a late-morning/early afternoon appointment (so I have to get up much earlier than a retiree ought to have to get up); and 2) of course, you can't use deodorant on the day of a mammogram and I hate that.

Then on Wednesday I have a 3:15 p.m. recheck appt with a bone endocrinologist ("osteoporosis specialist") at that same cancer center, 2 hours away.  She will ask me about my calcium and Vit D intake, tell me she'll schedule my next DEXA scan for next summer, and (hopefully) send me on my way.  I do not want her to order blood work, which will keep me there until 5 p.m. for sure and no one will call me with the results anyway.

    whine whine whine

I sure wish we could just stay home for awhile -- I have a manure-spreader load of calls to make and paperwork to fill out to straighten out some stuff with my dad's finances.  I don't want to start an animated discussion here, so let's just say any time the federal government is involved, the process will be 10 times more complicated than it would be to accomplish the same thing in the private world.

DH has started scolding me, saying that I "worry too much," and I should just relax and ignore everything until I know for sure there's a problem.  I'd rather anticipate the obstacles and figure out how to get around them before they're staring me in the face.  But, that sometimes necessitates fretting and worrying and frowning, things for which he's showing little tolerance lately.  Okay, maybe if I just don't tell him when I'm concerned about something?  That's what he would like.  <sigh>

Anyway, things are going fairly wonderfully.  My MIL is doing really well for her age and overall health.  Our granddaughter is growing like a weed.  She has rehearsed an interesting glare that she uses when engaged in an activity she knows she is not supposed to be doing (like playing with the ancient knick-knacks in the china cabinet).  The glare means, "Yeah, right.  And what are you going to do about it???"  She's five.  Heh heh.  There are some clear advantages to grand-parenthood.  :)

Almost time for another meal.  I think I've gained 5 pounds since we arrived in Tulsa, because of the truly great quality of the food they serve in this retirement center.

    Hi Everyone!

Been runnin' and gunnin' ever since my mom arrived.

Yesterday we pulled up the carpet in the bedroom.  The hardwood floor underneath needs a lot of work, but at least we got rid of the dirty stinky smelly carpet.  My poor old dog Winston just can't control his bladder anymore.

Today we ran a hundred errands and I did a couple of reports this morning before we left.  Looking for rugs for the bedroom, but after looking at five different stores, I nixed the whole idea.  Who needs one more rug to vacuum that Winston can pee on.

I still haven't heard from any prospective clients after the huge mailing I did last week.  I am so disappointed .. and desperate for more work.

Enjoyful .. I read about Lackey and wanted to strangle him .. what a loser.

Barbara .. sure hope you hear from the recruiter soon.

Otter .. sounds like you're having a good trip.  Bet you will be glad to finally be home.

Time to feed the dogs and find something for dinner.

    hugs,

    Bren
