Hello, I am new to this website but not communities and forums.  My mother was recently diagnosed with DCIS, had a partial masectomy in June and is now waiting on a surgery date for a full masectomy and wants to have reconstruction done at the same time as the removal.  She is debating signing up for the trial here for Alloderm and we were hoping to get some feedback from anyone who has had this operation already.  She is also leaning more toward implants as apposed to tissue transfer, she has Dr. Easson and Dr. Zhong here in Toronto.

Thank you in advance, this means a lot to us at a very scary time.

    I have an Alloderm matrix. It's been fine; I've had no problems with it, other than I've had a lot of soreness in my ribs, which my plastic surgeon says is where the matrix is sutured. So, for example, it hurts if my husband hugs me from behind and squeezes my ribcage just below my breasts.

    I also have Alloderm and have had no issues at all.Laughing

    Alloderm here too.  I am two years out and no problems. It allowed them a foundation for a larger implant to start with.  Good luck.

    I have Alloderm as well and have had no problems with it.  Even tho I opted for smaller foobs, the stuff seems to be working just fine.

    Hi again,

    Thank you for all the responses, I have spoken to mom and after her appointment she found out that she is not a candidate for Alloderm here and will be going with implants and sounds very confident and happy with the procedure Dr. Zhong has outlined for her.
