Well I think so.  That it what my RO said last week.  He is on vacation this week so I will know soon.  My techs will know.  I aked Maria, my tech and she said she thought I was in for 33 but she would have to check the prescription.  Either way I will be fine.  My skin is doing great.  This morning though I notice the rash is pretty spread now, but just a bunch of little dots, not itchy at all.  Thank goodness for that.

ceeze...I have had very few SE's and have not had that sense of smell change.  I think I need it...I eat too much LOL.  Nothing much ever effects my appetite.  I don't mean to make light of it, I am sure it is very annoying!  Hope that goes away for you soon!

Today was my last day of rads.  Is it really all over?  I can't believe it.  I found this crazy cancer thing in January and after the lumpectomy, chemo and rads, I guess the journey is done.  While it started out crazy, it now doesn't seem that bad. I've met so many brave women who have been through this and are doing well, that it gives me the courage to move on and just "live".  It feels so good to feel good.  I really feel that it's gone and that I can go out and live life.  I'm running because "I can".  I never used to like running but it feels good to be able to do so now.  I'm taking dancing lessons because I've always wanted to and because it just feels good to be "doing" again.  The chemo wasn't terrible but you forget how good it feels to feel normal.

I celebrated by making my rad techs choc. chip cookies.  I brought some gifts for the ladies that I've met in the waiting room who were so nice through these past weeks.  I went out to dinner with family who took good care of me tonight and came home to find beautiful flowers from an old college friend who went through this 8 years ago.  How lucky am I?

I wish you all joy and good health as you finish up your journey.  I pray that all of us go on to live long lives and enjoy every minute along the way.  Thanks for giving me a place to go when I was down or needed answers to my questions.  I don't know how women did all of this before the internet and this site was created.  It's wonderful!

I am leaving for Nashville Sunday morning. My plane leave at 6:30 am and I will are at 12:30 Pm. Mostly I am going to party with old friends, but I am going to work in some dental work too. I have a friend there who is a dentist who gives me a financial break. Six months ago he placed 4 implants, and on this trip he is going to expose the implants, and then I will get my temporary bridge. I will have one more trip to get my permanent bridge. Nashville is such a great city. Very nice people and great music. Enjoy your weekend everyone. Is anyone in Southern California? It would be great to meet my cancer, org sisters.

Irw333.....I should have taken your advice and rested today.  I am making a bunch of cake ballls for various people and had to get the rest of my cakes baked early this morning.  got those done, hand washed all the dishes and then started preparing to steam clean the carpets.  My hubby went around the edges with the shop vac and I used the regular vacuum to vacuum really carefully.  By room two the vacuum developed a clog so I had to turn it belly up to take it apart and find the clog.  I brushed my arm across my chest and that HURT so bad.   My nipple has been real irritated and red, so I went to go check it  Well, nipple is peeling and so is all the skin around it.  Ouch!  Plus the underarm area near my node incision is very itchy now.  I suppose it will peel next.  I do have the lidocaine/Aquaphor mix that I can put on it and that does help the pain quite a bit.  I have lots to do to get this house back in order still so can't take it too easy just yet.

Okay I am all done whining!  I started in August and will end in October so I am really fitting in here in several locations.  I should just have 2 regular left, then  boosts.  I am thinking that is good timing....poor thing is trying to tell me she has had enough.  Almost there!!!!!

Wow, so much going on!  Merilee, so sorry to hear of your robbery!  Congrats to everyone's progress!  How far we've come, uh?!    Two more boosts for me and I'm DONE!  Can't wait to join those of you on "the other side".    Peeling under my breast, but have one painful spot at my SNB site giving me a run for my money.  Otherwise, I'm sprinting to the finish line with head held high and my soft sports bra on loose!  LOL  go girls!!

    Much love,

    Ann

Congrats ladies on finishing rads this week.  Katfinn I love your spirit.  I work so hard on being positive and only thinking good thoughts about the future.  Your post reinforced all of that.  You are so right.  The work is done, and time to get back to life again.  Life without treatments and appointments (except for a few follow ups now and again).Smile

Have fun on your trip Kate!  It sounds like a blast, enjoy every minute.

Ann I am peeling now too.  My nipple has been really sore and red, noticed yesterday it was peeling and all the area around it.  My sentinal node incision has been super sore as well.  Today before my shower I took my reading glasses in to look, and that area is also peeling.  I have lidocaine I mix with Aquafor so I use that, but have to wear old tees as it stains.  My poor nipple is just raw!  Yikes.  I think I just have 2 more regular treatments and then 5 boosts.  Hopefully then all this will calm down.

Have a great day everyone.  Do something fun for you!  Hugs to all!

Janis I am sorry you are not doing well. Just so you know it takes a few weeks post rads for side effects to start going away. Also, I hate to tell you this, but boosts could make your side effects worse. I hope not, but I just want to let you know what to expect.

Thanks Kate, I kind of figured that.  The peeling is really annoying and so sore.  The lidocaine does numb it for awhile.  My poor nipple is just raw.  This is the first time I have had skin issues, I have done so well.  Today I am fighting fatigue too, but I was super busy yesterday and that may be why.  I have things to do so trying to get stuff done.  For some reason I just feel real crummy today.  I know it is temporary!  I'll be fine!

Have a GREAT trip Kate!  You soooooooo deserve it!!

Janis - my nipple was super sore a couple/three weeks ago.  It was peeling a bit, but aquaphor applied v e r y gently at night was really helpful.  It is still tender, but not like it had been.  I think it is strange I have such a burn spot just beside my SNB site.  My node was negative for disease, but it looks like a beam must have been directed to this one spot.  One thing I think I'm finding under the breast is now that it is peeling it isn't sore like it was - progress!!  Lovin' that!!

Two more to go, but who is counting??!!  MEEEEEEEEEEE!  :)

    Hugs!

    Ann

Kate have fun!!!  Janice hang in there. I was/am doing the same thing. 1 week after Rads I have peeled 3 layers of skin off under my breast and underarm. Not sure when it ends. Skin is not purple anymore.  Still sore but getting better. It is super sensitive. Rads are just hard on you in more ways then one. My throat is still sore and still not eating normal yet. I hope your feeling better soon...

    Hi guys,

I have not been on in a while just trying to get things back to normal after chemo, I have been keeping an eye on you ladies and looks like everyone is doing ok.. We are strong women yaaaaa..

I have one more week to go, which is my second week of just boost.  I have a couple questions, I just noticed my feet and ankles are swelling, don't know why and for the last week and 1/2 from my hips down when I get up from a sitting position it feels like I have been running up and down millions of stairs, my legs and feet are sore anyone else have any of these SE if that is what they are and what about the stabbing pain in the boob.....  Ok done wining,

I have really gotten alot from this and the Chemo thread which has helped me get through this with flying colors, thank you ladies, Love all of you, and lots of good thoughts for all of you to get through this with very little SE.

    Lots of hugs  Pam

I am really peeling and so sore.  My poor nipple is raw, and the area where my nodes were taken is miserable, sore and peeling.  I was doing great until this.  My sheet had a saucer sized damp spot on the side I lie on, so assume it "weeped" during the night?  The front of my t-shirt was damp.  UGH.  Only a few more treatments to go.  I am hanging in knowing this will all be a bad memory very soon! :)

Pam my leg with lymphadema swelled but my good leg had no problems with Rads. So unsure if it would cause swelling. On my second week since Rads and I am still having the Spiders and Dagger pain. It is sharp at times and can take your breath away. I don't know when it stops. Maybe someone can tell us who has finished.

Merilee glad to ear your getting a new comp. Good Lord now you have to wonder if they will return? Thats crazy. Having BC is enough for anyone to handle. Did they not catch them?

Janice I am so sorry your feeling bad and wish I could do something. I know your struggling and this to shall pass. Bad memory for sure. My nipple is not even brown anymore. Its angry red. I know what your going thru. I wish we could all be like Kate.... Hoping everyone has a good day today. I know its hard. Do the best you can. Thinking of you all today...

I finished radiation last Thursday and about 2 weeks before I finished I had severe swelling in the feet, ankles, and legs.  RO said it couldn't be from radiation and was most likely from chemo.  I looked up the side effects of Taxotere (I don't know which chemo drugs you had ) since the RO said it was most likely from that.  Taxotere can cause edema which can last from 1 week to 42 weeks.  The MO was no help and said it would "resolve itself."  I also have the problem with my legs.  When I first stand up they ache like the muscles are sore.

The stabbing pain in the boob (well not my boob since its gone) they said were the nerves healing and that radiation tends to cause them to start mending.

    Hi NanaSusie,

Yes I did have Taxotere (T/C), finished last tx on Aug 1st and this has been going (the aky legs) for about 1 week and the swelling just started.

Thanks again for the info.  Hope things are good with you.

Hi everyone - just wanted to wish everybody a great week with less less and less side effects!  sorry to hear of all these really sore red nipples and scars.  as for me, i'm just getting the rash now - above and below my breast.  1/2% cortisone didn't help much so will ask for stronger.  also does the lidocaine help the itch???  other than that just pinkness.  btw, my techs tape my nipples down every time in the hopes that will help (mine are standie uppies all the timies) so i'm really grateful they thought of that.  but time will tell.  maybe some of you could ask about that.

otherwise today is 15 of 30 (though my RO suggested adding two boosts, which I just kinda doubt i will do, but we will see).

my husband has stage 3 prostate cancer, so we're both a bit stressed and feeling it today.  but all in all, i feel i'll eventually be able to get back to "normal life" when this is over.  I had 15 years post breast cancer the first time, and I can promise you that it's possible (eventually) to more or less forget about it.

sarah - what a long trip!  and all those drains.  i had a drain for a bit and was so glad to see it go.

love to all and have fun this week if you can!!!  HUGS!!!  Jeana

Jeana I can not imagine what you and your better half are going through... Sending Hugs and Prayers your way. Hoping you both find peace in all this madness...

Lidocaine numbs it a little and sometimes helps the itch. Toward the end of Rads I started taking Benedryl and it helped me. Made the fatigue a lot worse though.

I am having a great time in Nashville. Besides visiting with friends I am also getting dental work done here. I have a good friend who is a dentist here, and he is giving me a financial break. 6 months ago I came here to get implants. This trip he is exposing the implants, giving me posts, and a temporary bridge. I will have one final trip to get my permanent bridge. Implants are great, because I won't have anything removable. Everything is permanent like regular teeth. I  am 5 days post rads today. I still have a rash, and I am still red, but other than that I have no problems, Thank God I am not blistering or peeling. I am not swollen and I don't have pain. For those of you who are experiencing painful side effects I hope you will feel better soon. Love and hugs!
