And at the same time they are cutting back majorly health benefits of their employees and recently had a total reduction in staff.

Soo..is this donation a tax deduction or what...however..I will take it...at my company..though small, we have had lay offs, reduced wages etc....at the same point we still donate to tons of things..

I dunno....sometime we don't know the story behind the story..maybe someone high up there has tn..you just don't know

Titan - don't get me wrong - I am glad that money is being spent towards research.

However, I also believe this is a publicity stunt.  How can you sit there and lay off employees world wide and we are talking about a lot of them - reduce their health benefits to where it is going to cost them quadruple what it does now, constantly state that they have to make all of these reductions because their profit margin isn't what it is supposed to be yet......turn around and give all of this money for research.  Yes, I am deeply impacted by what is going on within the company - things that don't hit the news like this did.

Read the articles closely.  With GE everything as double meaning and the ultimate goal is profits.  With that said we might all benefit if only by accident by their ploy for headlines (as well as their attempt to suck up to Saudi and China).  I will take a cure anyway we can get one.

Wow, this is awesome news!  My hubby was laid off from GE a while back, so I have definite mixed feelings about it, but it's just the nature of his business, and I agree - we need research money.  It was weird to benefit from GE imaging equipment everywhere as I was going through treatment, and it made it much easier for me to let go of the layoff resentment!  Of course the bottom line is profit for any business, and I'm happy to support them and don't begrudge them making a profit.

Absolutely agree.  If they can make a profit and help with finding a cure I am behind them 100%.  My husband and I have worked for GE for many many years.
