    Fishtastic Wednesdays have been temporarily moved to Thursdays :P  Tonight is good ol steamers, baked stuffed cod/scallops, cous cous and steamed zucchini.

    Michelle,  I agree, if not necessary then use option #2.  I cried the day I got mine (was never given an alternative)  I didnt cry because of the tattoos but the insensitivity of the rad tech, who kept telling me to "chill, its no big deal"  I was lying on the table looking at the ceiling and they told me to not move, while everyone (about 5 people) were going around me marking and planning and I asked them to please tell me when they were going to actually poke me with the tattoo needle, and they didnt, and the next thing I knew I was getting stabbed right over my breast bone....hurt like hell and I cried like a baby!  Maybe I was just hormonal or just plain bitchy....but wish I had taken someone with me.

    Anyways...been mowing lawn all day till downpour brought me in, so tonight I think will just do BLT's. maybe a side salad.

    Michelle - I always use a combination of apples whenever I make an apple pie. I always include granny smith, then add one or two different other varieties - cortland, rome, gala, braeburn - just about any really firm baking apple. The best apple pie I ever made was made with about 4 different kinds of apples I had hanging around in my fridge. Of course, I didn't note which varieties they were, so I've never been able to duplicate that pie.

    I'm just heading out for dinner with my 92 year old Dad tonight. I didn't pick anything up for dinner so we'll be at a local restaurant called Spud's. His favorite. All the waitresses know him and cater to him. One of my brothers or I is there with him at least 3 times a week. God help us if there's a new hostess who sits someone else in his usual booth. He's such a regular that when we didn't take him for about 3 weeks last winter (bad weather, he was sick) they were ready to send one of the waitresses, who knows where he lives, to the house to make sure he was ok. When my brother showed up with him they yelled at him (my brother) for not letting them know my Dad was ok.

    Change of dinner plans. brother just called, Dad just finished off  1/2 of a meatball sub that was in the fridge. I'm on my own for dinner. Hmmm what do I want to eat?

    Michelle- I read your blog that is so scary about all the SE that can happen down the road- I hope you do well with your rads.

    Laurie-I asked in my earlier post (that dissapered) How the chx fingers are with bisquit never had them that way, will have to try them-Steamer sounds great!

    Carrie-That is unexceptable to be treated that way, what is it with these radiologist who can be so cold and uncaring. Sorry you had a bad experience.

    Hauntie-What a special story about your dad and the servers who care about him :-)))

    Had a portablello muchroom sandwich today it was so good, brushed it with evoo and balsamic grilled it 3 minutes on each side and put it on a bun with mayo,dijon, garlic and basil, then melted some jack cheese on it.

    I had my tattoo between my tata's removed, it looked like a big blackhead when I wore a scoop or V neck shirt.  One more zap and it will be gone.

    Mixing apples makes perfect sense; if I could muster the energy, I would go make that pie right now.  Then I could eat it for breakfast tomorrow morning!!!  Maybe I can convince DH to peel the apples for me...Tongue out

     We just got back from having dinner at Texas Roadhouse to benefit Liz Hoffman's (DaydreamerNH) team for the ACS walk in October.  It was nice to meet her in person - she's been having a tough time and just got out of the hospital with lung issues. 

    Carrie - how insensitive of those RO techs!  That is just inexcusable!  I have to say that both here and in the KC area, everyone associated with RO has been kind, caring and sensitive.  I called the RO earlier today to ask my question about the positive impact of radiation on my prognosis, and his nurse said that she didn't know the answer, but she would email the doctor and ask.  A little while later I got a call back and she told me that he would call me by 3:30 tomorrow and if I didn't get a call, here is the number where I should call him.  So far, so good.  I am still suspect of his answer that he can radiate my chest wall after I've already had Mammosite...the problem is that all the info I can find indicates that a recurrence after brachytherapy happens less than 3% of the time.  So how many could he have seen in good ole NH/MA???

    Hauntie - that is really neat about your dad having his "booth" at a local restaurant!

    Michelle - I was with my Dad a couple of weeks ago and as the hostess is leading us to "his booth" she noticed some other people sitting there. She looked at me in panic exclaiming "I didn't sit them there." Dad was fine with it. He's mellowed some in the last year or so. He used to get really irate and would protest out loud - "They know I come here every night. That's where I always sit...."

    Hauntie - that is definitely a "senior citizen" thing, whether it's at the assisted living dining room, a restaurant or bingo.  They have "their" places.  My mom used to get upset when someone took "her" parking spot at the senior apartment complex where she lived.  "Everyone knows I have parked there for 14 years!"

    Hmmm.....will check that website out Deborye.  Is that for the removal of tattoos?

    Had tortellini and salad for dinner tonight.  I am getting so into salads.  I think they are what I make best.  Had a mixed green salad with sliced mushrooms, grape tomatoes, walnuts and balsamic vinigraite.  (I'm sure I butchered that spelling, but you know what I mean.)  Still finishing off DD's b-day cupcakes for dessert.  I thought she was going to take them into her dance class, but she didn't want to.  Uggg....I hate having too many sweets around the house.

    Michelle - My dad doesn't even own a car anymore AND he has a driveway. You should hear him when someone, other than family, parks in front of the house.

    Our machines can reduce wrinkles, remove pigment lesions, leg and face veins, port wine stains, tattoos, tightens face etc etc etc.

    If you want to find a doctor in your area just use the practitioner locator select your treatment and put in your zip code.  We have the SmartLipo also.

    I have one of these also, it is only good for hard apples terrible on the soft varieties.

    Yeah, I had both of those devices before we moved to this house with my mini-kitchen.  I barely have enough oomph for the first one, and I gave the second one away because I never once used it.  Way too many pieces to clean...lol.  I'll go with the good old-fashioned peeler and knife!

    Michelle - I'm with you. I can peel a whole lot faster with an old fashioned metal peeler than with any "labor saving" peeling device. A couple of weeks ago, I made my first apple crisp since having thumb joint reconstruction surgery. I peeled 8 apples - 5 without ever breaking the peel. I was quite proud of myselfLaughing

    Deborye, I added that website to my favorites.  Once I get done with rads (December probably), I will look into it.  It looks like there are several close to my home.  Now that I have new boob and a new flat tummy, I might really want to look into that.  Can you pm what kinds of things they do?  Any idea of the costs?

    Deborye   WOW sign me up!  Not sure if I have enough money though for all the work I need done! counting on my PS to do the lipo when I get my nips and tats, after that maybe get those pesky spider veins on my legs done.

    My girlfriend will be in town this weekend and we may just have to do an apple buying trip and make some pies, she is the real cook in our group and will be up for the challenge. The apples here in NY are delicous and are starting to appear in our grocery stores. my favorite store puts little signs by the apples telling about variety and what it taste like and best used for.  I will have to read

    I like cooking with Granny Smiths and jonathons.. give me a nice tart, sweet pie please.  Our Lodi tree produced no apples this year and they are fantastic for pies and applesauce if you can find them.. a bit of rhubarb is my secret ingredient.

    Last nite i diced chicken breast and pork chops and sauteed them for a long time with two onions, Mexican spices and a can of tomatoes.. served it on fresh tortillas with guacamole, lime and pico de gallo.. yum.

    kay1963~I do not know what doctors charge for these procedures, it is up to them, we sell the machines to them.

    Hauntie, Macouns are my fav apples too. I haven't seen them in my supermarkets either yet.

    I am having  zucchini pancakes,applesauce and taylor ham for supper.  I have some good recipes also and will share too.

    Per DD's request, we're having chicken tenders tonight.  I'll have the leftover flounder from the other day though.  Also having some roasted beets, brussel sprouts and a salad.

    Did anyone see the Dr Oz show last week on apple juice? He talks about how high levels of arsenic in them, Gerber being the highest, scary, scary stuff,  he says to make sure when you buy apples or juice to get the ones grown in the US and make sure it is organic,

    Welcome Candie!  Zucchini pancakes sound interesting, I'm looking forward to that recipe!  And what is "taylor" ham?

      I think my fave is a Pampered Chef peeler from more than a decade ago.

    I didn't see that particular Dr. Oz, but I sure heard about it.  Actually, I don't usually watch him but I did see a part of an episode about cancer this past week. 

    I actually made it to the grocery store today, but I must admit that I was wiped out by the time I got home!  I took the afternoon to get some doctor appointments scheduled.  I am going to see the Head of Radiation Oncology at Dana Farber on 10/14.  It would be sooner but apparently all the ROs in the country will be in a conference the week prior. 

    I am making Chex Party Mix using the original recipe from the 50's (way more butter and no bagel chips!).  I'll be taking most of it to the surprise birthday party for my son tomorrow night. 

    We usualy go out to eat on Fridays, but we've been out a lot this week.  So I decided we're having grilled pork chops, corn on the cob and waldorf salad - great use of that bin full of apples!

    Just a quick pop in for me- I'll come back again later.  Very random, my neighbor played in some big golf tournament today and scoffed a ton of food?  I guess he knew the caterer or something?  He dropped off ribs(I've never eaten ribs) BBQ chicken and baked potatoes- a ton of it.  I have it all warming up in the oven right now for dinner.  He said it was amazing, he took some for their dinner too.  But really, how random (and nice) is that?
