Merilee, so sorry that happened to you.  It really shakes your faith to think someone could be so cruel.  Kate, so glad for you.  Now you can relax and heal, and enjoy that celebration in Nashville.  Pat, I blistered and peeled under my breast.  I used Aquafor on it and then used a small piece of smooth gauze between the breast and underlying rib.  I read that keeping the skin moist would provide the best healing environment.  My husband who is an MD said after the radiation there isn't much worry about infection, since all bacteria have been well killed.  Irw333 thanks for the healing wishes.  We are both doing much better.

Merilee that sucks.. Stay strong... Come back when you can. I will miss you...

GiGil so glad things are better. Thank you for easing my mind. I did not know that.

Lynniea halfway? You can do this. Remember the weekends are your friend and just when you think you can't do another treatment on Friday? You will rest and by Sunday things look so much better I promise.

Kymm hang tough... We are all here for you.

Lynniea that is great, you will be finished in no time now!  My DH and I refuse to even let cancer, cancer related talk or anything related to meducal in the house on weekends.  It just helps so much to be able to be normal and kick it out for those two days.  You are almost to Friday......LOL.

Congratulations to all who have finished this week.  I'll be there in about two more weeks!

today is #20!!! Only 5 more regualr and then 8 boosts to go!

I am starting to have some redness, around where my bra band is. Yesterday I wore a soft sports bra instead. Maybe it will not rub as much there and therefore help with the redness. I am a little pink up on my chest also (collarbone/shoulder area). It's not painful, just reddish. I am still slathering the gel/lotion stuff on every night.

I go for 22 today, but now my RO says I am only having 25 regular and 5 boosts.  So I should be done sooner than I expected.  Sarah you are almost there.  Hang in there.  I have a rash now and my nipple is sore, but otherwise doing great.

I just asked the RO about it this morning. LOL! They said as long as I was not sick or running a fever, then it is ok. I will probably go up to Walgreens this weekend and get one.

I caught a cold while I was doing rads also.  And it was very hard to shake.

I finished rads on Monday and now it is itchy.  Hopefully that will improve.

Hope everyone is doing well!  I have been super busy and haven't had time to stop by in awhile.

@ lrw333: I had 3 drains (2 on left and 1 on right) after my mastectomy that stayed in 3 weeks. This one was also in 3 weeks. I go back to the surgeon in 3 weeks. I've not gone more than 2 1/2 weeks between visits to him since my mastectomy in Feb! I won't know how to act! LOL!

OK, me again - sorry about the false start earlier.  i just wanted to comment on the swallowing issue.  it is SO bizarre, but most of you aren't getting rads to the throat area so won't get this - so don't worry!  I'm stage 3 so getting irradiated above the clavicle and to the nodes in the neck right next to the thyroid.  it happened again today.  they're just telling me that my throat/esophagus is swollen and to take ibuprofen regularly to get the inflammation down.  hope it works.

LRW - i totally get why this and the other things you had would make you stop.  my RO does say this is the one SE that usually gets better before the end of rads, not worse.  so i hope that happens.  I have only felt committed to about 75% of these visits, to tell the truth.  but maybe i'll make it.  the RO just suggested ADDING 2 more - i kinda doubt that will happen.

merilee - so sorry about the burglary!!!  i always think they can have anything in my house as long as they leave the computer!  did you lose important data?  so so sorry.

kymn - good to hear from you and just sending you the best getting over it vibes I can think of!

sarah - i think the hot flash situation can go either way.  it does seem that there is a good case for giving it a try, especially for us stage 3 types.  my MO says she just keeps trying different versions - tamoxifen or one of 3 aromatase inhibitors to see what make the patient the LEAST mad at her!!!

the other day I felt so alone in the rad room when everybody left and the heavy door closed.  suddenly I felt ALL OF YOU there for me, and it was such a comfort!  Seriously - just ask for us to be there and there we are!!!  And I hope you all continue to post even when you feel bad.  We can take it and you know how it nourishes us to feel compassion for someone else and try to help.

Love to all 13 down, 17 to go.

Sarah I don't know how you do it.... Feb.?  Good Lord the things you have had to endure. Blows my mind what everyone has to go through. I wonder if I could be half the woman some of you are? I get so much from you all. Thanks for allowing me to do that. You continue to inspire me daily...

Jeana it was rough for me but doable. The weekends are truly what saved me every week. hehe I have lost about 15 pds. Still have to make myself eat literally. This too shall pass. LOL  Hang in there!!! I am with you everytime you go in spirit. So close...  2more? whats up with that?

    a little history:

I got my diagnosis Dec 23, 2010. I then had several more mammograms/USs, several MRIs, a few more biopsies (the MRI showed more tumors in the left breast and 1 in the right)...all of which came back cancer. Total of, I think, 10 in the left and 1 in the right. That pretty much took up al of January. Then I had the double mastectomy with left lymph node disection Feb 25, 2011. Of the 14 nodes he removed, 2 were + for cancer. He removed just the sentinal node on the right. I then healed for 5 weeks and started chemo April 1, 2011. I did 6 rounds of chemo, once every 3 weeks. Then I had another 5 weeks off and started radiation on Aug 23. I will get a total of 33 treatments. I plan to have reconstruction, but will have to wait until spring (at least 6 mos post rads to let the tissue heal). PHEW! I am tired just thinking about it all. I am coming up on 1 year since I found my lump (mid-Oct 2010). I have a caringbridge page for anyone who is interested in my journey:

So much going on with all you ladies I can't keep up!   Just know that I'm cheering you all on, sending hugs, cursing thieves, celebrating victories and loving you all.

I am DONE DONE DONE!!!!   yippppeeeeee!!!!   Took a big sigh of relief as I pulled out of the parking lot this morning.    Hard to believe it but it did go by very quickly.    I'll have to remind myself in the morning to go straight to work instead of heading to the rads center.  Cool

I've made an appointment for my PS in a couple of weeks - I'll be getting feed back from him on how he thinks my skin has done and when I might be thinking about exchanging my TEs for implants.   As much as I am ready to get rid of these TEs, I want to heal and be in the best possible position before I go into that surgery.   One of the risks after radiation is a higher chance of infection....I INTEND for the best possible results without any issues!   Also will be back to see the RO at the end of October.    All in all...I feel like I can start getting back to my life as I knew it.   Can't wait to get back into my yoga practice.....I've lost so much of my muscle during this process and I want my body back!

Hello everyone. Congrats to all those who have crossed the finish line. Hooray!! #15 today. Still going well, but I am having a weird SE. My sense of smell has gotten so intense. Not good when deodorant free with a hairy left underarm! Everything smells so strong that it sometimes is affecting my appetite. I don't feel like eating because the smells get to me. I wonder if this is from the rads, the tamoxifen, possibly the onset of menopause? So many things going on with this body, who knows? I got some Vicks vaporub and some coconut lip gloss to put under my nose. Anyone else ever heard of this?

I see that you will have less sessions than you originally thought.  GREAT news!
