Hi All,

Anyone else ER+, Her2+ with positive nodes?  There doesn't seem to be many women on here with this combination.

    Hi Missy,

I haven't made it to 3+ years yet so I'm not sure if I count, but I'm also ER+, Her2+ with positive nodes...  Nice to meet you...  :-)

mom2twins34 -  I appreciate your reply.  There doesn't seem to be many women that have that combo on here.  I also have ECE.  You're just about 4 months ahead of me.  Are you still on herceptin?  I finish in December, and I'm starting to get a little antsy about that.  Nice to meet you as well. (I also have a 2nd grader, and a 6th grader)........:)

Hi Missy- there's a great thread on the Her2 forum called "triple positives". Several women there have positive nodes! I'm not three yrs out yet, but I certainly understand where u are coming from.

    Hi Missy,

I haven't met too many people with ECE...  Yep, still getting herceptin.  I don't finish until Feb., but I understand the antsy feeling.  Are you getting weekly or every 3?  How is it going for you?  Do you take tamoxifen?

I feel like one of my kids with all of the questions!   :-)

Hi Missy & Mom2twins34; I'm Kate, diagnosed in March with Stage IIIA, grade 3 IDC, 4 positive nodes out of 21, Her+, K1 67 scores of 60% and 70%. Obviously I've got a lot of time ahead of me before I reach 3 years, but I'm really hoping to get there. I have three teens, two boys who are 14 and 16, and a daughter who is 17. My daughter has some learning disabilities, and I've learned so much from her over the years. She accepts everything with grace and beauty, and is a tremendous troubleshooter, who is never sorry for herself. Guess what? She has been invited to her first school dance (at a private boys school). She is glowing. I love seeing her enjoy something all of her peers take for granted. I'm so happy today.

Hi, I am Sara. I am 34 with 2 little boys (5 and 2 1/2) and was diagnosed in April 2010 with stage IIIA, ER+(100%)/PR+(100%)/HER2+. I had a hysterectomy a week and a half ago to get rid of my ovaries. I was on tamoxifen and it caused my ovaries to go crazy producing a lot of cysts and elevated estradiol levels. I just started Arimidex now that I am in menopause at age 34! It is nice to meet some triple positive sisters! (this is my first post!)

Hi Sara: It's great to hear from you. Congrats on everything you're doing - raising two little boys while going through all of this. I'm interested to hear about your adventures on tamoxifen. I'm really worried about starting after radiation, because I've heard so much about the effects on the uterus/ovaries. Keep posting and let us know more about your boys. I'm so glad I have children. They keep me very grounded through this. So much more so than my husband. Because they can't imagine not having their mom around, I'm sure.

Hi there!  Well, I'm not 3 years out but I am 2 years and 8 months out!  I'm doing great and loving life.  As you can see below, I had lots of nodes positive but to me, they were doing its job.  I had chemo, rads, and Herceptin for a year.   I finished Herceptin last July.

The woman who was my peer-mentor when I was first diagnosed (matched by my local Breast Cancer Coalition) was 33 when dx. She was ER+ and Her2+ and had some positive nodes. In fact she participated in the clinical trial of Herceptin! When she was helping me through my early days (back in 09), she was already 7 years out. I remember because she was celebrating her 40th birthday. She is still doing great!

MANY women who get through treatment and fully recover do not stick around for years and years and years. It seems to me that most stay for the first 3 years or so (some definitely stay longer) and then fade away. So DO NOT be discouraged that there aren't many on here, it isn't bad news. It just means they have put their bc experience behind them.

I am triple positive with 2 positive nodes.  I'm not 3 years out yet, but thought I'd join in.  I'm almost 20 months since diagnosis.

(Sara - I'm also Sara.  And I had a hysterectomy in February.  But I'm 45.)

edited to add that the Triple Positives thread has lots of great ladies on it.  Check it out.

mom2twins34-  I am getting Herceptin every 3 weeks. Actually just had a treatment this am.  Herceptin doesn't bother me. No real noticeable side effects, and I like that it is quick, 30 minutes in and out. I now see my Dr. every other Herceptin, so today was a bit longer. Yes, I do take tamoxifen. My levels haven't risen at all, just feel like my body doesn't have a thermometer anymore.  Hot, cold, hot, cold all day. The hot flashes are something....wheeeww!!   I just spoke to my Dr. about potentially having my ovaries removed.  I'm done having kids, and that would get off me the tamox. onto an AI, which I'm told has it's own side effects. Trade off. Questions are good.... :)

Kim and saralmom- great to hear that!!

Sara-   My kids are 7 and 10.  They have active schedules which is good, because it keeps me very busy and focused on other things.

Having kids is a good distraction and forces me to be active!

I started on tamoxifen in Dec 2010. I started out having a lot of hot flashes. Then in March I noticed that I was not getting them anymore and I was becoming very emotional. In April I started to have a lot of bloating and bad pains on my side. My PCP ordered an ultrasound and I had multiple cysts on each of my ovaries. We repeated the ultrasound 6 weeks later and had my estrdiol level tested. I had at least 7 cysts on each of my ovaries and my estradiol was much higher than it should have been. My MO was concerned that the tamoxifen may not be the best treatment for me and recommended that I either have my ovaries removed or shut down via Zoladex shots and then go on an AI (Arimidex).

I was very scared to go into menopause at age 34 and am concerned about my bones and heart health ( especially after AC and Herceptin) but after many opinions, I decided that it would be best

for me to have my ovaries surgically removed (as well as my uterus and cervix - no more pap smears!). I had the hysterectomy done with the davini robot and the recovery has not been too bad. Just cant pick up my boys. :(

i am 45, and the tamoxifen has brought me into menopause according to my Dr. I wasn't attibuting my high emotions to the tamoxifen, that must be partly responsible. I have been on it for 6 months.

How did you find the surgery? What is the davini robot (laparoscopically?).  My gf had everything ovaries, tubes, dnc (not her uterus or cervix) removed laparoscopically through her belly button.

Hi Missy - Have you had your estradiol tested? I never got my period back after chemo, but was definitely not menopausal.

The davinci robot surgery was not bad. I have 5 little incisions on my belly. I will have some scars, so I think that I'll be in a one piece bathing suit from now on. The surgery was a week and a half ago and I'm just taking advil a few times a day for pain and am restricted from lifting anything heavier than a gallon of milk. I am tired, but I think that my body is just worn out from the breast surgeries, chemo and radiation. I have been getting out for walks and that has helped.

    I

CHmom- I'm not sure. How exactly is that tested?  I had an endometrial ablation (due to fibroids) a year and a 1/2 ago which basically ended my periods. I was in to see my gyno about a month ago. He did an ultrasound and a pap smear. My MO runs a CBC on me every 6 weeks.

    Hope you feel better soon!

Ladies- I am not certain how many of you are in the Boston area and know of this woman but I was introduced to her by a mutual friend- she was stage IIIA , her-2 pos, node positive and diagnosed 5 years ago. She is doing great! She has been a wealth of info and she shared her story with her viewers as she went through it- if you have the time, please watch, she's awesome.

Very inspiring, and she is thriving.

    Hi girls--

So nice to meet you all!

Missy, thank you for starting this thread!...  Good luck with your decision about your ovaries and the switch to an AI.  It is one that I've been struggling with, too...  I hope your doctor is good about addressing your questions.  Seems like there are always so many decisions to make!  But it's wonderful (in a terrible way) that there are so many women here to help...  Thanks again for helping us all connect!

    Good night to everyone...

Missy - the estradiol is a simple blood test that my MO ordered. It can help tell if your ovaires are still producing estrogen even if you are not getting a period.

saralmom - Lots of info on that Triple Positive thread. Thanks.  I see we have a very similar diagnosis, and are the same age. Are you still on Herceptin if you don't mind my asking?

Hi Missy - I finished Herceptin in May.  Currently taking Tamoxifen.  I do have lots of hot flashes, which got a little worse after my hysterectomy earlier this year.  But no major side effects.

Triple positive and completed my 1st round of chemo 9/16/11.  I noticed that many of you triple positives were treated with TCH x 6 and then obviously Herceptin. I am being treated with dose dense AC x4 then T dose dense x4 herceptin and tamox. Wondering if anyone knows why different with similar diagnosis.  Is it a premenopausal versus post meno deal? I'm curious because my regimen of ACx4 seems tougher on the heart. That cant be good.  Also , wondering what your onco told you for % of survival being triple positive.  It seems like the numbers are similar to triple negative.  I was told 75%-82% disease free at 15 years out.  I know not to get caught up in that but was hoping for better stats.  Also figuring out the ovaries deal. So far 2 opinions for removal and 1 against. Too many decisions!  Fyi... Im 43.
