Great question. I have a mole on my upper back that will need to be removed soon, so I'm wondering the same thing. I think we have no choice, but to move forward, watching carefully, ready for antibiotics. My question is specifically related to MLD - do we ignore that area?

Also concerned along these lines. I don't have LE but think I might have a basal cell skin cancer on one of my arms. it wouldn't be my first...... With lymph nodes removed from both sides........ BTW-looking forward to "power surges". LOVE IT! I was put in menopause several years ago chemically/pharnacuetically(sp) & loved it. So, bring it on. I say..

I go see the Dr tomorrow who helped my with my cellulitus. She is going to take a look at it and see if she can do it or recommend someone doing it..we will see!

There are some precautions for any kind of procedure on an at-risk area or one that already has some lymphedema. information about that at the very bottom of this page:
http://www.stepup-speakout.org/Emergencies_and_Medical_Care_lymphedema.htmHoping it goes smoothly for all of you. KC, I'm not understanding your question. Do you mean can you do MLD now, or after the procedure?
Be well!

After the procedure while the swollen area is healing.

Saw tghe dr yesterday. I will do antibiotics 2 days before the procedure and will finish the 5 days of antibiotics. They are doing Bactrim 2x a day. I did print out the info from binney and she was very impressed and asked if she could keep it. So i gave it to her. I will wait tillafter my knee surgery on oct 13th then maybe a week or so after get these ugly thiings removed..

Excellent you were able to educate your doctor with Binney's info!

she was WAY impressed. She knew I had the cellulitus before and I need to be very careful with this. I met her when I was in the hospital with the cellulitus and I really liked her. We clicked and I knew she would be the one taking care of me in this situation. She is a general surgeon.

Vett, I had 16 lymphnodes removed from my left arm and I had to get a biopsy on that same arm for a mole. I did not get lymphadema but I did need to take extra precaution using topical antibiotic ointment so I did not get an infection. It has been about 6 months and I am fine. Hope this helps.

I had the moles removed yesterday. I starrted taking bactrim on monday and will take for 7 days. The procedure was fine, the damn drugs are making me sick. I will probably need to take with more food and liquids.
