Has anyone read it?  I bought it at a Borders going out of business sale.  It is really good.  it is about a woman who tested positive for the brca gene.  I would describe her as 'almost famous'.  She is a writer on Gilmore Girls, grew up in Manhattan.  Her writing style is great, you are instantly drawn in and know her.  I feel like we are sitting on the couch together and she is telling me the story.   Highly recommend it.

I'm about 50% through it.  One thing I really like is it's not just a 'cancer' book.  Actually up til now in the book, it's really about her and her mom (who does die of cancer) and her life.  Relationships.  She is brutally honest about herself.  It is really REALLY well written.  The book cover implies she will have a prophalatic mastectomy and possible oooph, but not sure.

Escellent book!!  Jessica Queller spoke at a FORCE conference a few years ago.  I am re-reading it for HBOC week, September 15- October 2  (Hereditary Breast and Ovarian Cancer week http://www.facingourrisk.org/events/special_event.php) and I may do some sort of a therapuetic reading group about it!  (Reading group + therapeutic discussion circle facilitated by a counselor (that's me)  = therapuetic reading group).  Check the FORCE link above to see if there are special HBOC week events in your area!

Other books on the subject include that are more like stories than informational books:

What We Have: One Family's Inspiring Story About Love, Loss and Survival, Amy Boesky

ChemoSabbee: A Triathelete's Journey through the First Year of Breast Cancer, Nancy Reinisch

I am in the process of reading these books as well, although Pretty Is What Changes is a re-read for me!  Glad you're enjoying it, Cori!
