New Specialist, hopeful but dissapointed...

After a year of on and off werido sypmtoms and changing of my throid meds, I finally pushes my PCP to send me to a specialist.  I chose an endocrinologist that also specializes in bone health (due to my recent osteopenia dx).  I had been waiting for my appointment, that was scheduled 3 months out.  Today I said, screw it, called, and fit myself in to one of their cancellations.

Anyway, the doctor seems great.  Listened, ask lots of good questions, explained a bunch of stuff to me (which, I all pretty much knew from reading, but it was nice to have a dr. explain stuff).  She has an idea of what she thinks is going on with me, but is waiting on blood tests.  Sht indicated that there are more drug options for me, etc.

All in all a great appointment.  I am hopeful that I will stop waking up at night with random body tingling, quit gaining weight, and mentally snap back in to life.

So, why am I dissapointed?  I secretly wish she would have dx me with "menopause" and sent me away with some HRT.  It is horrible, but I don't even feel bad about thinking this way anymore.  I think I would do anything for some freaking estrogen.  I totally miss "me" and I feel like "me" was taken away with my ovaries.

I just want to be happy and normal again.  After almost 4 years, I am so done with this....

Shit.. typos galore in that.  That is what happens when you try to type and eat noodle soup at the same time.

(((pattysprout))) I hear you.  I am so sorry.  but at the same time hopeful.  I am hoping that maybe there is something she can do that will help.

Shit, I completely understand. I would do almost anything to be back to what I was pre cancer. Sometimes it feels like I've lost myself completely and there isn't any going back.

I too wanted an end to my hot flashes and my gyno gave me EvaMist. It can cause cancer as I found out too late. I think I would have preferred hot flashes to a mastectomy.

Was that before or after you had breast cancer? If it was after that's crazy!

I don't think any of us would rather have cancer over hot flashes but since we had both this really sucks.

    Thanks ladies!

I wish I was feeling more positive today.  :(  Also, it sucks that I totally forgot to talk to the dr a new symptom that I have been having for the past month, which is what I am MOST concerned about, and why I tried to get in earlier.  WTF?  How did I forget?

Blame it on the lack of estrogen.  Is there a NP you can contact?

So, I am back to loving my new doctor (mostly) because I can see ALL of my test results online.  Awesome.  I am now going to come to her for evey scan so I get the results before anyone else.  HA Ha ! (Though it did take me too long to get in to the system, but mostly becasue I was so busy last week I didn't have time to bug them about it. OH, and apparently she put me on a new medicine, but hasn't informed me yet.  But, it is in the system... )

Anyway - my TSH is crazy high!  6 months ago it was 0.8 and my other doctor lowered my synthroid because they want to keep the TSH at 1.  Well, now it is 2.8.  Which, while still in the normal range, after 10+ years of thyroid disease, I know that this is crazy high for me!!   So, hopefully the new meds (higher dosage and new med) will level me out.

My thryroid antibodies were off the charts.  i.e. higher than the detection level.  So, I clearly have Hashimoto's, as suspected.  Though, I googled and now I am worried I have thyroid cancer.  How annoying would it be for me to bug her for a scan?

My Vit. D was 44.  I think she is also giving me rx Vit. D (but, again, i can't tell from the system and she hasn't gotten back to me yet).
