Michelle, glad you are feeling somewhat better and I am excited that you are back at school doing what you love. Pace yourself...hard to do with 6 year olds...rest on the weekends.
Congrats to your sister. My son does IVF...my Dad who has early alzheimers always asks my son what he does for a living and my son says "i make babies for a living" and my Dad says " sure wish I could have had a job like that"....lol
Welcome back Francine. Glad you had a great time
Beth and Diane...good times get together! -
Hi Ladies,
Had another fill today and all went well. The PS is finally giving me larger fills. He said I should be all done by the new year. Hurrah..My three year aniversary of diagnosis is on September 12..Wow that is a long time to be involved with all this BC stuff but I have moved on despite all that I have been through..
Beth..great job your son has..making babies...does sound very cute..LOL.
Hugs to all,
Francine

Hi ladies,
Beth ..always such wonderful comments.Yes three years is a long time...
I leave this Sunday for a ladies cruise to Bermuda with four friends to celebrate my fifty years of knowing my best friend...We met in HS.
Yes tomorrow will be a very solemn day for all. I can so remember my DH telling me over the phone as I was in work..that the towers had collapsed ..I could not understand nor fathom what those words meant..
Stay well all..
Hugs,
Francine

Hi everrone. Quiet here this week. Hope Francine is enjoying her cruise and that Chris and Rachel are enjoying the new babies.
All is well here. Sunny and a bit cool this morning but I love the Fall...so refreshing.
Cheers and Hugs

I've been meaning to post. Actually the baby is just wonderful, but it is school, soccer, football, and church that has occupied my time!
We had a flood here that was even worse than what we had in 1972, A lot of people in our area lost everything. Heading to some area homes to muck out what is left and start some clean up. I feel so bad that these people had to experience such devastation.
Hope all is well with everyone. I am, again, going to the Bahamas for a weekend cruise Nov. 25 to the 28th. The rates usually go down pretty cheap and flights aren't bad at all. Let me know if anyone is interested. Francine has me cruise shopping...I am so ready to go!
Take care....

Hi Ladies,
I can't believe I haven't been on since like June. We are doing good on my end and it seems everyone else is doing good as well.
Congrats Grammy Chris! - I have the same bouncey seat with matching swing.
-
Hello Ladies - just checking in. Nice to catch up on everyone's news. Had a busy month...San Francisco 3 Day last weekend and cheering for Seattle 3 Day walkers this weeekend. Saw a couple of fellow bc.org friends and I realized it's been a while.
So anyone that knows Komen 3-Day events knows about some of the traditions...there is a Memorial/Honor flag and a wall for Inspiration. Of course, I got it mixed up...but I hope my intention was in the right place.

At some point, I will remember how to post a pic to this site and you'll understand what I meant about being muddled. Though not at this moment... :-)

Hello all,
Hope you are all well and enjoying life and cruises! I am keeping my head above water with Arthur: looking after a baby is just relentless! But still lovely.
Had my annual follow up with the oncologist today. He looked a bit shocked when I walked in pushing a pram! A lot can happen in 12 months. Since I decided not to take Tamoxifen so I could get pregnant it was nice to feel that choice has paid off. He said all seemed fine and to come back in a year. I like that kind of medical appointment. Meanwhile I see the surgeon for further check in a couple of weeks now that I am no longer pregnant.

Hi ladies,
Hope all are doing well.
Any more takers for Words with Friends..I am playing with BethP and Tanasha..
Rachel. Glad to hear all is well..Yes being a mother is often hard work but also so fullfilling..You and Tanasha are an inspiration to all..
Hugs,
Francine

Well said Francine. These young mothers are amazing. Rachel, enjoy your little Arthur, they grow so fast. Any new pics to post?

Hi Ladies,
Everyone getting ready for Pink-tober..What are your thoguhts about it?
I plan on donating money through various ways but seeing all this junk Pink really bothers me..
My nephew's wife was just diagnosed last week. Young woman in her forties..
Keep well all.
Hugs,
Francine
-
Francine, sorry to hear about your nephew's wife. My thoughts on Pink-tober is that I will participate in the CIBC run for the Cure again this year but all the pink marketing stuff is irritating. What I have learned is that alot of companies that put the ribbon on their products (yogurt, toilet paper, t-shirts, pink appliances etc) often say that they donate from the sale of the product but what the fine print will inform us is that it's up to a certain limit. So, they can produce thousands of their items and not EVERY one sold gets a donation..only up to the limited amount.
Last year the pink stuff didn't bother me..this year it seems that there is so much ridiculous marketing of it. Did you know that Susan G Komen foundation partnered with KFC. Yep, a donation from KFC with every bucket of greasy fried chicken. What a joke!
Choose your donations wisely and research where the money trail leads.
Beautiful westher in Edmonton this week...seems like summer finally arrived..lol
Hugs
Beth

I really don't mind the pink. I donate to worthy causes and hope that by seeing pink it will remind women to get their mammograms scheduled! I realize a lot of companies are abusing the sale of items that are pink or have the ribbon on them, we can't control everything! I figure if they are donating anything that is more than nothing!!
Hope all are doing well. I haven't seen my little Sophia in almost 2 weeks! I have had a terrible cold that has gone to my chest and left me with a nasty cough. I don't want to expose her to anything so I stay away...I miss her!! I guess I need to boost my immune system to protect myself from all the germ carrying first graders!!
Take care everyone.......
-
Chris..I can see your point but I do think some of this stuff is just a little too obnoxious..Yes it does put BC into the public eye but... ..hope you get rid of your cough ...You will now probably be surprised by how much Sophia has changed..
I read an excellent article in the October issue of Good Housekeeping about BC..Interesting statistics ..kind of scary...
Hugs,
Francine
-
I hate interesting statistics that are scary!!!
It amazes me how fast her looks are changing. I was with my boys everyday so the changes weren't so apparent week to week. But only seeing her a week at a time really shows how quickly her newborn look is diappearing!

Francine,
I am feeling the same way about Pinktober. I hesitate to put this link on the site. But this is my niece Jennifer.
When she was a senior at Fordham University, we were starting our chemo journey, she asked lots of questions about her2neu etc. She is a determined young woman, she applied to Sloan Kettering to find some answers to her cancer questions. You can see her page on the link below. She has been so inspired by the research that she has been training for months to run her first NYC marathon.Working with the top Drs in cancer research really has her moving. I BELIEVE ALL THE MONEY SHE RAISES GOES DIRECTLY TO RESEARCH.100 percent.

Go Fred's Team!
Here's another option instead of the Pink Stuff. she is doing this for us, from the heart. after you read her bio page you'll see why she brings tears to my eyes. god didn't.t give me any daughters just sons. but my nieces are like daughters to me.

Hi All,
Wow! I feel like it's been years since I've been on this site! I just wanted to pop in a say hello. Thinks with me are O.K. Work has been hectic and I'll be going to Philly this weekend for the Dragon Boat festival there and I guess that's the end of the season for our team. It has been great!
I'm very happy that Summer is finally over (the heat drove met nuts!) and I'm so happy to see that things are going well with all the new babies. I love all the pics. They are so adorable and my prayers go out to you all for continued happiness and good health!
Francine, I'm glad to hear you're fills are progressing.. lol Beth - happy your weather is good and good luck in your run, Michelle - my inspiration! Hope you're hanging in there. I know you are.. I've seen your posts and blog entries!
All - I hope everyone's doing well and enjoying the end of Summer as much as I am!
My best as always,
Beth

Hi Ladies,
I know this weekend had a number of BC events. Dragon Boating in Philadelphia as well as Beth's walk in Edmonton...Hope all did well in their events.
Yes summer is ending and I am feeling a little sad. I love going out without a coat etc.
Tomorrow I see my oncologist..four month checkup and this Thursday I have another fill. Nearing the end.
Nice to see many princesses on FB..The babies all seem to be doing well..Kennedy, Arthur, and of course Sophia..
Beth hope all went well in your race today.
Playing Words with friends with BethP and now Tanasha.
Hugs to all,
Francine

Hello Ladies,
Just popping by to say hello. Glad everyone is doing well. The Run went well. Beth and Patti, so nice to see that you were able to see each other at the Festival.
Francine, how did yiur 4 month checkup go? Good luck with your fill today...yes, nearing the end!
Chris, PM me if yiu want my user name on Words with Friends. Love to have you on board!
Hugs to all
Beth -
Hi ladies,
My four month checkup went well. Not much really said.Blood results will come in soon. No real worry though. But my oncologist felt that I no longer need to get Zometa as it's benefit is being questioned . She said she will find out more at theSan Antonio Conference this December.
I got another fill today and all went well. Fills are now larger amounts as I guess the PS feels that the necrotic area is all healed..Eventually I will have a new breast..
Chris I too would love to play with you..Is there anyone else on the board who plays and would like another partner just let me know.
I got my flu shot today..
Hugs,
Francine

Hi,
I have finally gotten in touch with the ACS and will have an interview next week to become a patient navigator. I have wanted to do this for some time..
Too quiet on this board..
Hugs,

-
Francine, great news for your checkup and your upcoming intreview. Congrats!
All is well here. The weather is getting cool and the trees are gorrgeous but leaves are starting to fall.
We had our kids and my son's inlaws over for Thanksgiving dinner on Sunday. It was a beautiful Autumn day. Good food, great family...so much to be thankful for.
My niece is going to San Fransisco ( from Nova scotia ) today to participate in a maraton for leukeumia and lymphoma. She was dx at 3 and is now 34 years old. My brother died of leukemia when he was 10 so we are so proud to see her make the committment to do this. She is such a lovely, generous woman and has worked so hard to make this happen.
Hope everyone is doing well.
Michelle, you are always in my thoughts.
Hugs
Beth -

No appointment for me until Dec. I am down to blood work every 6 months and a mammo once a year. I liked every 3 months better...lol. Hate waiting to hear everything is OK.
Glad all are doing well.
Have a great day!!
