a bit worried x
Hello ladies ( and men!),
About two years ago I noticed my nipple became inverted and I found three small lumps, one in my armpit and two in the nipple, the boob man dx chars and duct infection (caused by smoking?) and so in April 2010th I had the lumps removed and my ducts cut.
Now a year and a half later I am still having problems, nipple is still inverted and leaking either blood or pus, boob swelling up intermittently, hot to touch, ache and stabbing pains like someone is putting hot needles into my nipple, areola sometimes ( when boob is swollen) has an orange peel look.
All these symptoms seem to come and go, a couple of days I am ok, apart from the aches and itching, then I brush against something and it swells within a hour.
I have been on a number of courses for anti bios because the doctors keep saying its infection but it never clears up.
Can symptoms come and go like this? Thank you in advance xx

I don't know much about IBC but i believe i've read on here that yes it can come and go. You should see a BS.

I am not a doctor but would recommend you go see one. Please make an appointment so you can put your mind at ease. Nothing worse than not knowing.
Will be thinking good thoughts. Let us know.

I would get it checked out by someone who knows about IBC symptoms. It seems like way too long for this to be going on if it is an infection.
Best,
Laura Jean

Yes, IBC symptoms can come and go - it is rare, but please get checked out for your peace of mind. Outcomes for IBC are much better with earlier diagnoses.

Hi Kate - Haven't seen you post lately. You need to go get it checked. Please don't just let it go and ignore it. Best to just have it checked so you have peace of mind.
Please let us know how you are doing.

I agree with the others on here. You should definitely get to a breast specialist that is familiar with the signs and symptoms of IBC. Think about this: If you aren't running a temperature, you don't have an infection, and antibiotics won't help. Get IBC ruled out and breathe easier. There are several IBC specific cancer centers around the US now. Check at www.eraseibc.com and look at the list of those centers...one may be near you. Let us know how you're doing.
