WR - thanks for pointing that out.  I get on the computer and I am sifting through 4 pages of posts to catch up daily and last thing on my mind is to go back through and read again or even check things out.

Rabbit .. thanks for pointing that out to me!  I hadn't gone back to see if posts were deleted.  If I was out of line with my post earlier, I certainly do apologize to the mods!

    hugs,

We talk a lot don't we ... pages move fast Smile  Next thing you know we will be celebrating 1000.

I think some of our Canadian friends were offended by a certain 'meant to be funny' picture.  That picture can be interpreted 2 ways IMO ... (1) that Americans are 'mooning' Canadians or (2) that Canadians see Americans as a$$es.  Equal opportunity offensive?  Tongue out

    Sending (((hugs))) out to gracie.

blue ... glad your daughter said yes!!  And now you don't have to keep the secret any more.  Did you find yourself wanting to blurt it out every time you saw her ... bit a hole through your tongue maybe?!

Good morning to all ... hope everybody has a good day!

Yes, she figured something was up, but not quite that.  She kept asking me "what's up".  Guess I've lost my "poker" stare when I had the DBS!  I've spent the whole morning calling my parents and other kids to tell them.  Just my son left, but he looks to be very serious with the gal he is with.  I would welcome her into the family right away.

Blue .. I'm so excited for you .. a wedding to plan.  While stressful, it will be lots of fun too!  Have they picked a date yet?  I just have one son, so when he got married, I wasn't really involved in the planning, except of course for the rehearsal dinner.

    hugs,

    Bren

I expect Blue will be arranging a wonderful Italian wedding, where the multiple food courses, the wines, and the sweets table, will be out of this world!  Nothing better IMO!

Blue.............congrats..................my grandaughter got married Saturday.......everything was beautiful.......the most touching thing was her boquet.......my husband passed away 20 years ago Sept. 2nd........She was his 3rd grandchild, 2nd birth.....the first 2 were identical twins.........being my daughters, little girl, she was always over the house with her Mom, we lived very close to each other.........He and Genna (grandaughter) became almost inseperable............she was 7 when he died, and it hit her pretty hard...................now the story of her bouquet.............

when she came up the steps toward the church doors.........she told me to wait to see her flowers..........Here, inside her bouquet was a picture of her and my husband hugging each other , that was taken when she was about 5 years old.she had it put in a small gold frame, and attached to her bouquet within the flowers..........of course when I saw it, I ruined my make-up and hers too..............She said to me "My Poppie had to be here with me"...........it made my day...............such a thoughtful thing to do.........Your gonna enjoy all the planning.

Ducky, what a thoughtful thing to do.  I'm sure your husband was right there with her.  I'm looking forward to the planning.

I loved helping my DD plan her wedding. Being the mother of the groom is a different story. As they say, when you're the mother of the groom your job is to "wear beige and keep your mouth shut".

Alpal .. that's so funny!  As the mother of the groom, I wore purple!  My only job was the rehearsal dinner and we had it at a wonderful restaurant in Little Italy in San Diego.  My daughter-in-law is quite the planner and had everything under control!

I had a difficult report to type this a.m.  I needed all the grammar spells at my disposal! Love my client, but dictating is not his strong suit.  Then I had the most wonderful nap!  Guess I'll get to the rest of my chores later.  For some reason, the dishes didn't get done while I was napping away!

Hope everyone is enjoying their day.

Hello, all ;-))  May I please have my Special Drink in the Mug with the initials IBBBIB. tee, hee...

Interesting how people doing the attacking are sudenly the ones who need defending. I can tell you , Bren, give up.   I hope to get to next NOTL, but I certainly won't be holding any banner.

Thanks Ann for your NYC special remberances.  I worked on Wall St for years b4 moving to London. Knew so many people at WTC.  Our favorite place was restaurant on top.  First visit just as Merrill Lynch moved in, and friend had me sit at chair he specially positioned facing desk & window.  Said keep you eye on space between edge eof desk, and edge of other building. YES - you could see the buildings moving, swaying, as they were supposed to.  Awesome.  Still can't think about it, so many friends gone.

Athena, your picture of the Lion hugging her cub is already printed out and in a place of honor near my easel.  THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU.  Please don't let the venom that gets spewed on us get through - IGNORE BUTTONS ON.

Watching the men's US Open.  wonderful sunny day.  PS (Wink) but not chaning my screen name, love Bren's sunflowers too much!

Athena, re: low dose OCPs and sleep--I don't know if they helped me slep, I just know that ever since I've been OFF them, I've had poor quality sleep without other pharmaceuticals. And OCPs helped me in so many ways, from migraine managment to mood stabilization.

Conventional wisdom says that hormones "feed" cancer. Less conventional wisdom says that in some women, low doses of hormone may actually keep a cancer from proliferating, as it's getting a little of what it wants to survive. I think it was Dr. Van Vliet's theory. I liked that, because it validated my choice to stay on OCPs as long as I did. I had "fat, dumb, and happy" ER+ cancer.

I know of many women who used small doses of hormones to get them through the horrors of perimenopause, and their cancers have not returned. They are being monitored closely, but it's indeed a very personal choice to be made with one's health care team...

Ann, I use .25 mg clonazepam to sleep. Have been on it for years and it works.  Drug of choice for PD.

Okay, I'm the one at fault for the Mt. Rushmore debacle.  LauraGTO posted a funny photo that I truly believe was NOT meant to be an insult, just silly.  I'm the one that said "no wonder the Canadians think Americans are asses!"  Again, not meant as an insult, but playing off the photo.

*slapping forehead*  Okay, everybody gets to kick me once.

E... I thought it was funny too.  And I really do think that Laura meant it just to be a funny joke.  After all, we Canadians are known for our Timmy's, maple syrup and witty sense of humour!

Loved the tributes to 9/11.  Ann, it must have been so confusing and scary to be in the middle of it all.  It was bad enough for those of us getting minute by minute description on our tv sets.

Congrats on all who have children getting married and just married.  I am almost as jealous as those of you with grandchildren.  I had a visit from 5 of my great nieces and nephews at the farm yesterday.  Loved it!!

Lewing, it was very touching and so thoughtful on my grandaughters part.

Oh gosh, i have to say I thought the Mt. Rushmore (as seen from behind!) was funny too!  In fact, I think I posted it here once.  My favourite American cuz sent it to me and I roared with laughter! We Canucks do have a sense of humour -- just ask Mike Myers, Martin Short, Michael J. Fox and so many others too numerous to mention.  Maybe it's because we don't take ourselves TOO seriously.  Life is short, and laughter is good! -- oh, and good for you!

Enjoyful's coming to lunch here with me tomorrow -- hurray!

I have the greatest sense of humour.  I guess I look at the intent.  It's a cumulative thing that can spoil the humour.
