YSC ladies moving over from FB?

Hi, I am a member of YSC, but have found this site very helpful as it is more active. I am still very interested in connecting with younger women though. It is a unique experience for us I think.
-
Hey Melinda and Cori- Thanks! I hope to find you guys in Philly! I will be staying with family who lives walking distance away. Have to combine the trip. Melinda- are you still doing an email list of who is going?
-
Hi Blonde lawyer- I am glad that we have joined this board. You are right, it is a very uique experience. I was 39 when diagnosed and while that is not as young as most YSC folks - it is still too young to get thrown into chemopause.
I hope you are doing well...

Quoting Angie: Cori what's going on with your hip? What did the bone density scan show?
If you're running a lot that could really be exacerbating it. Maybe you should switch to elliptical or something like that. Running is super-rough on the joints and hips...
Cori - I agree it could be the running, but I don't agree that it is bad for you. Have you read "ChiRunning"? I am trying to encorporate it into my running! It is very interesting. I think you would like it.
-
Thanks for the shout out, Melinda! I actually thought I responded. Sad about my mind...
Anyway, it was a big week for my family. My sweet boy is doing fine, doing great if you don't count the angst of just being 15. But he's just as sweet and funny and smart as ever. Just a fine human, you know? Shame that doesn't make growing up any easier.
You've been on my mind, too. It's been great to see your travels and good times. We just need to find you some really good friends near home, too. Or, as has been suggested, a couple of good jobs in Portland.

Anyway, lots of love from way down here.
-
And hi, Patty! You were on my mind this week: I'm trying to think about what direction I'd like to go in my work life (currently on "sabbatical"). Your travels sound hard but also tempting. I hope things are good on the home front-- and that you'll get to be home for a stretch to enjoy some happy, normal, peaceful days with your little sprout.
-
Angie-hip still hurts. so does knee. and apparantly pulled tendon under my big toe. lol. I see my onc next week, if he says he doesn't know what is doing, Dan will refer me out for some diagnostics. I had a bone density exam in the spring and my bones are better than before. it's not osteoporosis.

Sorry to hear about your pain, Cori. It's hard not to worry, I know, but I'm thinking/hoping it's just an injury or an alignment problem. Hope you get answers and some relief soon.
-
Thanks for the welcome Jennifer. It has been a crazy few months, but I am doing pretty good right now. The quick recap: Dx in April, started chemo in May, BMX in Aug. I just got my last drain out yesterday--yay! I start radiation and Xeloda soon and then after rads I will do more chemo. Right now I am enjoying no chemo in the system!

blondelawyer ---
So glad you found us here, and sorry that we weren't there for you during chemo.
I trust that your RO will assassinate any annoying littles cells still hanging around.
<<<Hugs>>>>

I certainly hope so!
There is also a lingering issue. When I had my PET scan before my first chemo they found a spot on one of the my left ribs. At the time we sort of decided that it was a bruise from my first skiing trip that I took a few weeks before dx. Well, months later, it is still there and no one knows what it is. Because of the location, the only way to biopsy it is surgically. Right now we are going to watch and wait, but is has me a bit stressed out (mostly because that would mean I am stage 4 and I'm not sure that I can take that). I think that starting rads will help ease that anxiety some.
-
Ugh, blonde lawyer, sorry you are going through so much. As for the spot on your ribs, it's not cancer until they say it's cancer. Even though all the treatment sucks, it's great that you are doing everything possible to kill any remaining cancer cells.
-
blondelawyer-I am sorry we weren't there to help you through everything so far, but glad that you are here with us now.
Jen-thank you, I am trying not to think about it to much. I always have some part ache. trying to ignore.

Hi All,
Just created an ID and am checking in. Have been on Hiatus.
Cori, hope everything is okay...
-
Patti you monkey! I didn't say running was bad for you, just that it is hard on the joints. I was a serious runner before this recurrence never-ending chemo BS that is my new life and miss it very much, especially all the health benefits I got.
Cori maybe your hip is intimidated by The Rack?
-
Angle, I think you are on to something. A stress fracture caused by holding up the Rack.....
-
Or a fracture caused by the stress of self-comparison to the Rack... Can you imagine how all of Cori's other body parts feel, next to the Rack all the time? It would make me crack...
