So so sorry.  His Parkinson's was a little more aggressive in that he must have had Lewy Bodies Disease.  Yes pneumonia often gets us.  I'm really sorry you lost him so young.

It was really hard on my mom, especially. I dreaded telling her that I had breast cancer, because she had already lost one child.

Now she watches over me like a hawk, for any symptoms of Parkinson's. She's 83 years old. I told my husband if I get it, I hope I don't get it until after she dies.

I hope you don't get it either.  It's terrible to live it and just as terrible to watch a loved one go through it, as you know.  Take tumeric, not only is it good for PD but breast cancer too.

'Morning - or somewhat - still really half asleep.

Blue: I love both Curb Your Enthusiasm and Michael J. Fox and glad to hear he is around us. As for your darling of a grandson, too bad that such a happy, angelic boy stirs up jealousy if that is indeed the case... Mary, I'm so sorry about your brother. Must have been a bad day of rememberances for you yesterday.

E - Thank you for news about Gracie.  I have always enjoyed her posts and her warmth. I hope she is able to read some of this. Sending huge hugs either way.

Finally waking up. Sleep medication is outstaying its welcome, I think, even at lower doses. I'm going off tonight, as per my doctor's plan. Now the mission is to see if I can avoid overly vivid and disturbing dreams, and if I can actually go to sleep at all and if, when I fall asleep, I can stay that way.

My thoughts this week are with Barbara, and I hope you hear about a second interview.

One more yawn before the coffee is ready....

    Morning Lioness

Buttercup, you keep saying this is a public thread. We know that. We welcome all contributions to the discussion but are not wild about people who try to stir things up. I think that is human nature. Now I am sure you would not do anything like that. Give us a chance. We are very warm and fuzzy when not being poked.

Morning all. Thanks, Athena, for the good wishes on a job. Should know something Friday. So Next week is another marathon travel week. Tuesday fly to Tulsa then Friday drive from Tulsa to Shell Knob, MO to visit with a group of BCO sisters then fly home Monday. Whew. I will be beat. I am tired thinking about it. This weekend my BFF from Kensington MD is coming with her BF. This is the first time she has come since I have lived here (15 years)., Quite a milestone as she is a bad flyer.

Grace, thinking of you and sending warm hugs.

Congrats to all the Aussies! Great match!

Athena, so nice to see you this morning and the banning monster didn't get you.

Sunflowers, hope your stay at the house of detention is soon up.

Well ladies, its official.  My daughter is engaged to be married.  Her boyfriend asked her yesterday in L.A. and she said YES!

Hi Ladies.........a little late with this post........remember I had my grandaughter's wedding on Saturday, and spent yesterday with my 2 grandsons home from Chicago for the wedding...was very upset since they both were flying back on Sept. 11th............to Chicago, from Philly International.....They arrived safely.....thank God.

On Sept. 11th, 10 years ago, I was taking care of my 2 grandchildren, who are now 13, and 10.  My daughter had called me from her work (Sesame St. only allowed on TV), so I really did not know anything........She said "Mom a plane hit the WTC".....................Remembering many years ago (I am 76), I told her "Nikki, that happened years ago, but it was the Empire State Building"............(many of you are too young for that one).................anyway.......

She told me to turn on the TV, (I was allowed the kids were both sleeping).................and thought 'Wow, that looks bad"....................while I was watching it, the 2nd plane crashed into the other Tower, and I felt this sick feeling in my stomach that said  "that was no accident", and so the story goes on, and on, and on..........................what a horrible day.......

One of my sons who owned his own company at the time........was scheduled to meet a client in the World Trade Center, that day.............he was on his way to the meeting on one of the higher floors, (can't recall which one), when he got a phone call from the client, telling him he was stuck in traffic, and would be about 1/2 hour late.......................my son said he went into a small shop to pass some time away instead of going to WTC to wait for the client..............................While he was in the shop looking at some books for my grandchildren, the 1st plane hit.............I thank God everyday , for making my sons client hit dreaded NYC traffic.................

The next day, my son, who spent 5 days in NY, and the weekends home in Philly decided, since NY had been so good to him, he would go back to NY and do something for them............He is a Carpenter, by trade, so he went to Ground Zero, and spent 3 days digging through the rubble, bucketing out debris, and cutting steel, to help look for survivors...............he said there wer still fires burning, and they all worked digging with whatever they had to get to people................he said he will never forget the bodies, and body parts of the people killed on that horrible day...................I sat in tears yesterday as I watched the people who had lost loved ones,,,,,,,,and thanked God, over and over, for sparing my son...................I will never forget.................

AnnNYC.............I checked my BCO website just this morning, and was reading your post....................After listening to my son describe the scene around Ground Zero that day, I can appreciate your writing.............It had to be horrible for you...................We will never forget.................and shame on the people who have bad mouthed the Americans who cheered at the news that Osama Ben Laden, had been killed..............................he (according to what we saw) had an easy death ....................too merciful for what was done to our American brothers and sisters..........................and all the other people of all races, and religions, from around the world who died.........................we will never forget.

Wow, who let me drink so damn much last night?? Started with my own version of Cosmos (very strong!) and then moved to Pinot Noir, as we had a great hunk of salmon. Somehow, 4 of us drank 3 bottles...Alchol really messes with my sleep. Seems to negate the effects of my nighttime meds. So, once I finally fell asleep, I was wide awake 4 hours later...

Today, though, I'm going to an accupuncturist to look at getting me re-regulated and off sleeping pills. I finally realized that as soon as I was diagnosed 9 years ago, I haven't been able to sleep on my own. That coincides with stopping the low-dose birth control pills I was taking for preimenopausal symptoms at the time of diagnosis.

I expect numerous sessions and lots of littl Chinese pills to set me straight. Worked for my trainer. I'm hoping it will work for me.

I'll be with you all at the B&G in spirit tonight. But I think I'm going to lay off for a day or two!!

Hey, Ann, that's interesting about the low dose birth control pills. Do you think they helped you with sleep?

The reason why I ask is because my doctors and I are in discussions about trying low dose birth control pills to help me with possible perimenopause or just Very Bad Periods. The idea would be to help control mood, body temperature and period pain symptoms that cannot be controlled by other means and can be quite disabling, but I was wondering if there was any benefit to sleep.

I have an appointment this week with an ob/gyn to discuss. I'm sore different people have widely varying experiences.

    1Athena1-

I was taking low dose birth control pills before my BC diagnosis, for the very reasons you might be taking them-perimenopause and Very Bad Periods. I was told to stop taking them immediately upon my diagnosis since I am ER+/PR+ and there is some debate on whether bc pills feed tumors.

I'll be interested to hear what your ob/gyn says. I still have perimenopausal symptoms and Very Bad Periods to deal with.

Mary, Yes, I'd probably end up having to sign a waiver or something to get a doctor to give me a try with the pill. I am ready and willing to take the risk given my specific health and personal circumstances.

    Hey All,

Really touched to see all the 911 rememberances.

However, not sure what's going on here with the negativity, name-calling, etc. We deleted some posts, etc., but it needs to stop. It is a full moon, and maybe that is stirring things up, but we cannot have this on the boards.

    Thank you.

Mods .. I'm a little surprised by your comments.  I haven't noticed any name calling on this thread.  And any negativity being posted here did not come from the regular members of this group.

I'm usually the most easy going of this group, but this has me a little upset this morning.  The full moon is not stirring anything up.  I know exactly when we started having troubles and what posts those were.

Please don't call us all out on bad behavior on this thread ... if there is an indivdual who has broken the rules, maybe you could send them a PM.

I'm the first one as well to stand up for the moderation on this site, but I'm not happy with this right now.
