CherrylH - what a novel idea. Whoever thought that up did a great job!
-
Love that, Cherryl ! Really beautiful.

To The Mods and anyone else who can provide knowledgeable feedback, I'm also curious about the following post I wrote. It is still visible but I can't see the "edit" and "delete" functions, which suggesats that it has been reported. Here is the post:

Laura - You also have the right to not read. Maybe we should have that included in the rules? I thought it was just common sense. (Having the feeling I'll get reported now. At least we'll know). If I violated a BCO rule with that post, I'd like to know which one it is and I will rephrase the post so as to not be in breach. Otherwise, mods, fyi, clue me in please - thanks! If you believe I should edit tell me.
I can't make changes, though, unless the edit and delete functions are returned for that particular post.
I think we can all work this out like adults. If people can say, openly and in this thread, what aspects of a post offended them, we can have a dialogue. The funny thing is, the ONE post we were all clear in calling offensive is still up....
It seems that posts are now being reported belatedly. Perhaps the thought is that no one will notice. My advice to everyone here (especially Canadians) - check the status of your posts.
Cherryl - hope you had a wonderful weekend. I would order a night cap but I think nature is taking its course and tiring me very quickly.
Hoping for a good sleep but not too good!

1Athena1-
Your mistake was in using Laura's name. I have gotten reported every single time I have mentioned that name in a post, and will probably be reported this time.

Wow, YramAL, Interesting.
Well, maybe to find that answer I should rephrase: If you are someone who reported that post, would you care to say what rule it violated?
Mary, if you are correct, then that is a rule violation. You can't report posts simply because they say a name.

Takes a while to get the crew gathered together I guess.

Ann and Libby ... thanks for sharing your experiences with us. I was home and didn't have the TV or radio on so had no idea anything was happening until DH called to tell me. I really thought he was exaggerating until I turned the TV on and saw for myself. It all seemed almost surreal to me here in the midwest. What I remember being most weird here was the absence of any planes in the air. We live close enough to the airport that they are a constant ... though distant ... presence.
Happy Birthday to Lassie!!
-
I was at work that day, the radio was on when it all started. It was so confusing. It was unbelievable to me once the second plane hit the tower and when we heard there was a third crash, well, I could feel my self start to panick for our nieghbors in the US! It felt as though a war had begun as we were all listening dumbstruck to the announcers. Once I got home I was consumed by the television and could not leave it. For days every chance I had I would watch with horror and disbelief that this had actually taken place. I still to this day am dumbstuck any time they replay the horrors of that day. It greatly saddens me that so many perished needlessly.
Today I watched the memorials in NYC, Penn, and Gander, I can't imagine the heartbreak so many have endured, and yet so many have reached out on both sides of the border and some have made everlasting friendships. I will never forget! God Bless America, May you always be free!
Ann, your recollection of that day had tears in my eyes.
-
Gracie - thinking about you and hope you're comfortable.
-
Well let's hope the Mods look at that post and recognize the same patterns.
-
I'm watching "Curb Your Enthusiasm" on HBO and Michael J. Fox is on it. It's hilarious!
-
Athena:
First, I did not report your post or any other post. Second, I did find your comment (somewhat) inflammatory - you are essentially saying "you have the right not to read". In other words, this thread belongs to this group and if you don't like anything here - go away. That's why I posted here after your comment and Sunflowers. I'm only replying here now because you solicited opinion - not to start something late on a Sunday night.
Regards.

Blue -
Someone called your grandson pitiful?
-
To Blue and all who know gracie1 -
Gracie asked that I say hello to you all. She doesn't have the energy to read or post and doesn't want to bother her DH anymore, as he has so much on his mind.
She's not doing well but is taking some supplements suggested by another board member, and hopes to feel better and get some more time through them.
We all love you, Gracie! I hope the supplements give you some relief.
Hugs always!
E

Gracie is in my thoughts and prayers. I hope the supplements bring relief.
-
Yup E, they referred to someone (me) keeps posting pictures of this pitiful child. I don't know if it's still there and I'm not gonna go looking for it.
I'm sorry to hear about gracie. Hope she starts feeling better soon. Please send her hugs!!
-
Blue
He is a BEAUTIFUL child, not pitiful. Calling children names is pitiful.
-
I can't believe anyone would stoop so low. I'm not going to go looking for it, either. Why read something so disgusting?
-
Rosemary, they have used every tactic at their disposal to run me off the board. I'm surprised at the feigned innocence and yes Athena, I was still looking for my jaw too, but I got lucky, my friend Greta came over today and found it for me..
-
Why would anyone want to "start something on Sunday night" when they can do it every Friday????????!
-
My attempt was to assure Athena that I did not report her posts or anyone else's - easily verified by the Moderators, I would think. My advice to you, Blue, Athena, whomever, is that if you don't want an answer and won't believe it in any case, don't waste your time asking the question.
-
Maybe I missed something but I don't see anyone accusing you, buttercup, of reporting anyone's posts. Why do you feel like you're being accused?
Unless you're Laura?? Because that's the only name anyone mentioned at all.

Back to Michael J. Fox. He still has his skill. The writers used his Parkinson's and worked it into one of the funniest skits I've seen in a long time.
-
My brother passed away from complications of Parkinson's 5 years ago yesterday. He was 43 years old. His was early onset like Michael J. Fox's. Michael J. Fox was always my brother's hero. It's good to see him surviving and thriving.

I'm so sorry to hear that. Did it progress quickly? Was surgery not an option? I know many who passed away either through bad falls or aspiration.
-
Yramal:
Two hours ago, Athena ask the mods or "anyone else that could provide information" to give her feedback since she does not understand what she did. Since you participated in the conversation with her, surely you remember it. I gave her what information I had since (after all) she did ask. You don't have to like it - no one one this thread has to like it. Again, this is a public thread.
-
Michael J. Fox is my hero too and used to belong to one of my Parkinson's forums.
-
It really is a testament to his abilities and his strength of will that he is still acting. He was a recurring character in The Good Wife last season. He was on Letterman the other night -- what a stunning sense of humour he has!
Hugs for Gracie. E, thanks for your update and for keeping in touch with her.
-
Blue-he was diagnosed when he was 35. He was unable to have the surgery that I think you had because he also had dementia-whether it was a side effect of his meds or from the Parkinson's, I'm not sure. His official cause of death was pneumonia.

I watched those episodes, Linda. He has done so much to help find a cure. He and Sergei Brin (one of the founders of Google) sponsored DNA testing which I participated in to look for markers. He is an amazing human being, not just because he is Canadian. One of the Directors of his organization is constantly in contact with us, because they look for patient input.
