I am now reading that herr 2 positive actually as lower rate of coming back after 4 years..

where as herr 2 negitive has a better chance of coming back many years later??

Also still concern that onco test said pr - but lab report was 60% pr+.. the only answer was the labs are different??

Thanks,

bar, you have to be careful not to take things you read out of context, which so often information on the 'net will do.

The bottom line is, Her2+ bc is a very aggressive (fast growing) bc -- usually more aggressive than Her2- bc.  So, it would tend to possibly reappear (if it's going to reappear) sooner than Her2- bc might.  However, a drug called Herceptin has greatly improved tx for Her2+ bc, and the truth is either type of bc can recur shortly after tx or years later.  It's impossible to put everyone in the same box.

As far as recurrence, IDC bc is said to more likely reappear (if it's going to) within the first 5 years, whereas ILC bc is known to frequently reappear years down the road.  But here, too, there are many individuals who don't fit that pattern.

As far as the two different lab reports, I might question your onc about that to see if he/she has an explanation.  If both readings were done on the same tumor -- and assuming you had only 1 tumor -- there shouldn't be that much of a difference.  OTOH, it probably won't make that much difference in your recommended tx.  But if I were you, I'd want to know where that discrepancy came from -- to be sure they had the correct tissue sample.      Deanna

Thanks for the info. I did talk to several Drs... all seem to think since Er+ they would take the tamoxifen.

Also just had liver test..( got after my appointment) it was low for ASP and ALK..All I can see may mean low on Vit 6 but just had that tested and it was high.Any idea?

Also why don't the check your FSH to see how much estrogen there is? When mine was checked it was way low a couple years ago.I hate they don't do much for stage one.

    Hi Bar,

You might find the information on the main Breastcancer.org site helpful on HER2 Status and Hormone Receptor Status.

    Hope this helps!
