an ultrasound question

Well, because of the wonky cells on my last pap, and the biopsy I had done, and my BRCA status, my doc is sending me for a abdominal and pelvic ultrasound with transvaginal too, etc.  I have no uterus, no ovaries, the bare minimum of cervix cells left.  I hate scans and have no idea what they are looking for, but off I go to get it done.

My question---my appt is at 6pm next Tuesday.  I usually do an aerobics class from 4:30-5:30 (during which I drink water throughout).   I can safely make it to the testing site from aerobics in time but I am worried that I will probably be drinking the last of the 8 billion gallons of water I am supposed to drink on the way there (and not an hour before like they told me to).  I don't really want to skip working out just to drink water ('cause truthfully, the working out will keep my mind calm and keep me less anxious) but do you think it will matter if I drink it late?  What's the worst they can do---make me what a bit for my appointment until the water gets where it needs to go?

I wouldn't miss working out for an ultra sound. And, I just had one a few months ago and was dreading drinking the millions of gallons of water - but I did it. THEN, the tech told me I drank too much and was too full. She said next time not to drink as much as the paperwork says!  Also, if you do need to drink more, then they will just have to wait on you...won't they. Won't it be kind of nice to keep a medical person waiting on you instead of the other way around (like what normally happens to me).

I don't think it matters if you drink it late. IMO you would have to wait anyways and the worst thing like you said is they make you wait a bit. I would say do the workout especially if it will help you deal with the anxiety!

Split it and drink about 1/2 before the workout, and 2/3 afterwards.  You will be fine.

Hugs.  I'll be thinking benign, boring results for you.

I've had a ultra sound appt that they cancelled on me because I hadn't drank enough fluids. (It was a pregnancy u.s.) They made me come back two days later. If I had to choose between working out and an ultra sound imperatif to my health, I would not choose to work out. Just my opinion though. Can you drink extra water while your working out?? Just remember, your not skipping out on working out to drink water, you would be skipping out to make sure your putting a health concern first! :) I would try and figure out a way to do both so you don't end up getting turned away from your appt.
