What? No Bone Scan?!

To make a long story short: saw onc today for rib pain and occaisional shortness of breath (but I'm fat and out of shape- Phoenix heat makes everyone short of breath). I take ultram and celebrex daily for a different condition, so was surprised to have rib pain. Onc ordered "stat" (lol; prior auth takes forever) CT/PET scan and XRay of spine and ribs, blood work .I was so flustered I forgot to ask why no bone scan. Any thoughts? Will the ordered tests pick up bone mets?

    Donna, my bone mets were found on a PET/CT since the bones and organs are included in imaging.

    I hope your ordered tests pick up no mets at all and your rib pain & SOB is caused by something innocuous.

    Donne, I am so very glad your Onco is taking your pain seriously.  Its his job to make sure you stay well. CT / PET show more than the bone scan so it's a better choice.
