Oh hey, another nite owl here! My excuse for that is because it took me soooooo long to catch up after 6 days away! I even tried catching up with my BB on the way home from up north! This thread just moves so fast!
Janice (((Hugs))) that really is crappy.
PIP..good luck with the selling and house hunting! I love Bobcaygeon and Fenelon, we spent many summers travelling the waterways through those towns and stopping at the locks to tour around or wine and dine.
Goodluck on the job Anne and Bren. I feel fortunate that we all are working and really feel your frustration at the jobs situation. Many people I know are now working 2 or 3 jobs just to earn a decent income, it shouldn't have to be that way. Seems as though fulltime work is almost a thing of the past.....sad. We really need the manufacturing jobs back, I think we have all been sold out on that!
Lewing, it's great to hear your DD is enjoying her first year and making great friends! I wish I could go back to school too! I loved all the stories and experiences my DD had during her years at school, I was almost envious.....oh to be young again! It was fun meeting all these young people and having the opportunity to host some of them at home and at the cottage. These are the best years for them, many friendships formed for a lifetime!
Love the otter picture! I want one! Do they make good pets?? Soooooooo cute!
Blue, glad to hear the arm is feeling better! BTW.....you rock!
Had a wonderful 6 days at the cottage but brrrrrrrrr, it sure got cold! Only 7 celcius in the mornings with the steam rising off the lake because the water was much warmer! Thankgoodness DH bought a new heater which was put to good use a couple of days! Of course the day we have to leave is the warmest and most beautiful of all.......figures! Oh well, enjoyed my time to recollect during some solo paddles in my kayak. Back to reality tomorrow!

I will be MIA over the weekend. A friend from high school comes in tomorrow morning and we plan on a wild and crazy weekend. Behave yourselves!! See you Sunday night.
-
Cherryl, have a great time. Bar duties will not go unattended while you are away, I promise. Pop in for a round if you and your friend have time.
(((Jancie))) - It's always something, isn't it. Last week I was wailing to my doctor that all I wanted in life was my health. Never thought I would have such a modest request at this relatively young age. I hope the dentist's isn't too awful. Damned cancer trreatment. I sometimes wonder if it's like treating a shot in the head with a stab to the heart. We really have a long way to go in breast cancer medicine.
Ann - I am cooing away at that otter (and waiting for the namesake to appear). Reminds me of this.....
-
Cherryl, have a fantastic time with your friend! If you're out painting the town and see a group of college students (one wearing a nose ring, one wearing an argyle sweater, one tall with long, curly strawberry blonde hair, possibly talking about Dr. Who and all of them laughing) . . . you are hereby authorized to remind them to behave. And tell the one with the strawberry blonde hair to call home!
Viv, the week at the cottage sounds heavenly. I love the image of steam rising off the lake (even if it means it was cold). And HL - congrats on being almost drainless. (I thought one was bad, can't imagine six.)
Jancie, so sorry about the dentist (nitrous oxide! nitrous oxide! nitrous oxide!) and the heart issues. Was it adriamycin that did the damage? Had you been having symptoms? Hope the medication manages them with no bad SEs . . . please keep us posted. (((Jancie)))
Got to head out for a pre-dawn run. Now that I know Sarah Palin's half marathon time (a very respectable 1:46 according to the article I read on HuffPo), I am officially motivated to get myself back in shape. Tempo runs, speedwork, whatever it takes: can't let her be faster than me! (Right now, sad to say, she would kick my ass.)

Oh - anyone hear Rick Perry questioning the wisdom of anti-global warming policies? With that sage advice, who needs the village drunk?
Off to do boot camp class at club and hopefully remain in one piece. 'Morning, all!
ETA: Waving at Lewing - enjoy your run. "See" you in exercise land...
-
Global warming? Pssssht. Drill baby drill! Who needs to develop renewable energy when you can drill for oil in the Everglades? So what if using it puts tons of pollutants in the air! It's a big whole lot of air up there and it'll probably just float to China anyhow. God will protect the US of A from satanic pollution (not that it actually exists).
Okay, back to Sanity Land. I'll be away this weekend, too, visiting the boyfriend in Canadia. Lindasa, I'm heading your way. Can you meet up for lunch tomorrow?
-
E
Did you know there are no known deposits of oil in the Everglades? Sigh...
We had a "small" oil spill near here over a year ago. A little under a million gallons It is not cleaned up yet. They don't know how to clean up spills except in the ocean and keep having unexpected problems. This was tar sands oil, extra thick, another problem. A beuatiul natural resouse was ruined for the foreseeable future, people were made sick, and property values on the river have plummeted.

Grandaughter gets married Saturday................I'm praying for a good day............"no not the weather, I can't control that, just for me a good day".........................right now my hair looks like a bird made a nest in it, and hatched her young (thnaks Femara)................my ankles and feet look like Miss Piggy in pumps, and on steroids (thanks Femara, and my LE decided it would swell............(thanks Femara)..........oh sorry Femara that wasn't you, that was cancer's fault................oh and did I mention the weight gain.....................gotcha Femara, that's you too.....................
Well at least I hope the weather is good...............right now isn't looking that way..............Shit I think I'll forget the coffee, and just start the day with Vodka............................

-
Good Morning all,
You guys sure were busy and up late last night. Am I supposed to remember all that? Well let's see!
Love the pics....we should be more like them and we would have no problems, no air pollution and no wars. Ain't nature grand. It doesn't take much out of Mother Earth's resources. Just like the American or Canadian Indian, used just what they needed. Oh where is La Longue Carabine.
Jancie, good luck with the dentist. I need to see mine too as I chipped one of my molars. Keep putting it off.
Linda and Enjoyful, hope you can meet up today! I'm still missing you all!
The other Linda, you'll be kicking Palin's ass soon enough! hahahahhaha!
Cherryl, enjoy your weekend!
CrazyDaisy, Glad you enjoyed the Great North. We will be going up to Blind River next week. Visiting with Ray's family...8 hour drive!
I can't remember anymore. Please forgive my CRS syndrome!
-
Ducky, we were posting at the same time. Hoping for good weather and cussing Femara here!
-
Lots of folks up late last nite.
Jancie: so sorry you had such a bad day. Scary about the heart "damage" - let's hope it can be healed, or at least stabilized. Then teeth - the piling on akes it all so much worse. Hoping you get the "laughing gas" - I used to get it - now my dentist uses novicaine.
LOVE the pictures Ann, Athena, so warm and loving.
Things are lovely, quiet here, now if only the rin would stop. HUGE ponds of waters in all the fields around my little cabin. Notice the birds have stopped coming to the bird bath near my door, they don't need it. Lucky basement has 2 "drains" floor, think I'm the only resident not needing a sump pump.
-
I found him!

-
Morning Blue .. thanks for the great pic of Daniel this a.m. I loved that movie!
Y'all were up late last night .. I don't think I can remember everything.
Jancie .. I know you had a bad day yesterday and a trip to the dentist today. Hope all goes well. I'm sorry to hear about your heart.
Chaplain .. have fun this weekend. I know you will enjoy the company.
Enjoyful ... have a good time in Canada .. hope you get to lunch with Linda. Wish I could be there too.
Sunflowers .. hope you are safe from flooding.
Ducky .. the wedding sounds lovely. I'm sorry you are suffering from the Femara. I quit taking Arimidex after six days. Couldn't stand it.
I need to get busy .. hope everyone has a great day!

Bren................Its nothing I can't handle right now............however, at 76 how many more years do I have left...................I am willing to take that chance, but I don't want to be kicking myself in the ass if that 1 cell managed to get away......................Its only 1 months...........this could all backfire, and the SE come on gangbusters.
Well the truth be told.........I am a friggin, party person, dancing all the time, never sit down lady..........I can't hear music and sit still in the chair..........I won a "jitterbug" contest on Dancing on Air when I was in high school, and still dance.........................was taking "line dancing" lessions when I found out I had cancer....................kept going, and didn't let it stop me............so the Femara feet could pose a problem...............that is what this bitching is all about...........not being able to dance.................I think I'll overdose on Motrin............now that should do it.................or I could just "drink" my dinner...............either way, it should be a fun day,..............I have an LE appt. at 11am ............better get my ass moving.
-
OK Blue, you found me with Hawkeye - "that-there" is where my heart lives, and is the subject of my entire library-study (including microfilm machine) - similar prints, and the woods, are my views. That's what I study, read, and write about....
Lewing - we had our mtn. funeral Saturday, pretty much as I described. At the potluck, held in a meadow next to the store, they put up a 4' x 8' piece of plywood and filled it with old pictures of our friend. In many ways, it was much more real than today's (lovely, I have done them) computerized slide shows because folks gravitated to the board, touched the pictures, tried to identify our young selves (a hoot!)... And we played his favorite music all afternoon as we reminisced..
Today if the weather's good, we're taking our little boat, going blackberry picking at the lake.
-
Lost_Creek .. hope you have good weather today. The boat ride and blackberry picking sound wonderful. I had a bad year for blackberries this year .. not enough rain. And we love blackberry pie, but none this year.
Ducky .. hope your appt goes well today.
Linda .. have a good run this a.m. I know you can beat Palin ... don't give up!
hugs,
Bren

E -- I sent you a PM.
-
Just checking in before I head to the dentist. I don't like him one bit! Found out that the insurance company will only pay $396 for the crown. I swear this is the tooth that I had a root canal and crown just 2 years ago. Wouldn't you think the crown would last more than 2 years?
DH is out of town so I was finally able to sleep in - until 11:00 this morning. My body has been wanting to do that for days. I have just enough time to get some caffeine in my system and then head to the dentist. I don't think this guy uses gas - no instead I will feel like one side of my face is totally swollen and will spill everything out of my mouth for hours. I guess I should wear an old shirt

I moved my horse lesson from 4 pm to 5 pm as I didn't think I could get this awful feeling out before then. So glad to have my trainer back in town!
Athena - loved the picture you posted.
-
Thankl you, Jancie - best of luck to you! I hope your lesson serves as a nice distraction from the health problems.
-
Athena - it is so wonderful to go out and not have a care in the world when it is just me and my horse.
Got back from the dentist - they want to pull the tooth and then wait 120 days before they do anything. I have the choice of a bridge or an implant. No matter what it is going to be expensive.
I have a wedding to attend tomorrow night so I scheduled the tooth pulling for Tuesday. Oh yes and monday I get that wonderful shot in my belly to keep me in menopause (Zolodex).
What should I expect when they pull the tooth? Will I swell up? Will there be some throbbing?
No, they don't have gas there so I am going to take 2 lorazepam before I go.
-
Jancie .. so sorry you have to have your tooth pulled. That sucks. I had to have one pulled in the back as well. I didn't feel any pain until it was over. It took a long time for the dentist to get the tooth out because the roots were so long. My jaw really hurt when it was over. Because the tooth was in the back and you couldn't tell it was missing when I smile, I never had a bridge made.
It's going to be sore and swollen for a while. I think my doctor gave me some pain pills, I can't remember. I had some at home maybe and I took one when the lidocaine wore off.
I don't think you'll feel like riding when it's over. You might want to wait a day or two.
I hope someone posts with a better experience than I had.
big hugs,
Bren

Je suis en Paris!!!!!!
Ok - did the Wallace monument yesterday and I signed the visitor book 'Susan Wallace' - that was my name before marriage. I only climbed half of the 246 steps. I actually got quite emotional being there.
It took most of the day but we finally got to Paris!!!!! The hotel is fine - free wifi. The B&B in Callender was fantastic - welcomed with a cup of coffee and biscuits - big old Victorian house - loved it!!!
Il est douze hour et cinq - better go to sleep - ttyl
Sue
-
{{Jancie}} I hate the dentist too. But I found one who sneaks the needle in and does it slow so it doesn't hurt. Enjoy your lesson and get lost in the moment of you and Jazzy being one.
Hi all. Having a Corona NFL again before I head to the beach bar to see GreenFlash. Should be some hot videos tonight on FB.
-
Sorry - forgot to say : Good to hear you are better Libby and hugs to Jancie.
Sue
-
Susie, say hi to Jim for me! I'm glad you're having a good time!
-
Sue .. glad you're enjoying your trip and you're safely in Paris.
Barbara ... I'll look for the videos on FB tonight!
hugs,
Bren
-
(((Susie))) "Welcome" to Paris.

Watching Obama. He's trying logic again. I see big giant question marks floating above the heads of some congressmen.
-
BWAHAHAHAHA! I am loving every pointy word.
L -
E - I'm watching Obama too but honestly he's preaching again - hope his message is getting through - only 13% approval for Congress maybe they're finally listening!
