I forgot to tell you all that on my FB photos I have a wig on. Sadly, my hair just does not want to come back, even seven months after chemo. Though, I am still taking my clinical trial drug: Tykerb that may retard it's growth.
-
Found you on FB, survivorwoman! You made me look up tagliatelle!!!!
-
Gee, I couldn't tell it's a wig, survivorwoman! You look adorable. Some of my FB photos are also w/my wig, which I wore if we went out for many months after chemo b'cuz my hair took awhile to grow in. Hopefully, yours will catch up, too! Have you tried the B vitamin supplement Biotin? I think it helped me.
-
Spring - Yeah! it was my first time eating tagliatelle too. I did not know what it was gonna look like, but figured, the mushrooms mixed with truffle oil were worth trying. It was an amazing dish. I love truffle oil too. Sometimes I put truffle oil on mixed veggies, too.
Deanna- Thanks for the compliment on my wig. I got this one from another survivor at a Share meeting in NY. I am going to take Biotin as soon as I am done with the clinical trial drug. I can only take 1 multi vitamin a day, nothing else is allowed right now.
-
Deanna- Wow! It took me a while to figure out in which photo you had the wig on. It looks great on you. Was it real hair?

Glad we are connecting on FB!! WOOHOO!! Nice to see each other!
I did some tummy exercises, stretching and a walk at lunch, only 20 min, but its something! Will babysit my grandbaby after work. I'm pooped though...but she brings me such happiness.
-
I enjoy FB, and I am really happy to connect with you all there too. But there are certain things I wouldn't want to share with all my friends, except only with you Ladies. Such as that today I was a bit depressed and did nothing. It is probably because we are having three gloomy days of rain and suddenly the weather turned cold up here. I am so not ready for fall. I was hoping to have a bit more warm weather so that I could ride my bike. I am really bummed out. I don't know if I mentioned, but I joined the Y. I love going there. It is not too close to home, but near work. Tomorrow I will make every effort to get back to my exercise routine. I promise.
Thank you all for connecting with me outside BC, too. I love you all!

Spring
I don't think we have connected yet on FB. I sent you a pm with my details...
I am not on bco very much these days. This is one of the only threads I still connect with...
Survivor, hey, it's ok. I understand about the depression. Hey, there are days when you just don't feel your usual perky, energetic self. I can honestly say that I still haven't figured out this 'new' normal...
Hugs

Harley - you are not going to believe this, but is it possible that there is another woman out there with your name? Someone who has the same name as you had approved me on FB. I even chatted with her. She volunteers at ACS. Let me go back to FB and investigate it. I will send you a PM shortly. Sorry....then.
-
Harley- we are connected on FB.
I will send you a PM to explain.
-
Suvivorowman, I found you on FB through Deanna's friends list. Sent a request.
Yoga yesterday and today. Didn't feel like it today but went anyway and felt better afterwards.
tomorrow is elliptical unless we bike ride.
-
Survivor
I think I am losing my mind! Sorry.. Yes, I remember chatting with you.
Deanna
Could you give me some information about the natural estrogen modulators?
I am trying to research them, and haven't found very much.
Thanks
Hugs
Harley

No problemo Harley -- it was really funny.
-
Survivor,
You are too funny! I know... I am so funny!
Spring,
So glad to have met you on FB...
Deanna,

Got my stitches out of my nose and it looks good. He did not put stitches in mt leg - he took two spots off side by side but he put stitches on one above my left breast. I get them out in two weeks.
I have a potluck dinner to go to in a few weeks but the catch is I will be traveling 3 hours to get there. Any suggestions on what I can take with me? Ya'll always have good receipes!!
Still in the 80's here during the day. Only got 3 inches of rain from Irene and 1/4 inch from Lee. We will be getting wind and rip currents from Katia. My son and family are fine. Can't go up there to visit because they are just letting residents on the island and I have to go through Ocracoke and don't know when they will allow visitors on there. Back to work on Friday. Everyone have a great weekend. Kari, in my prayers((((hugs)))).

I finally did it! I lost my 5 pounds gained after foot surgery the end of May!
I have walked faithfully as soon as I got the go-ahead from my Dr. and it finally paid off! Took me 5 weeks but I'm hoping since I took it off slowly it will stay off. I'd still like to lose about 20 more but it is a start. I'm hoping this will motivate me to go back to the gym - I need to - but I love to walk outside - Good job everyone - thanks for helping me to stay motivated!!! Ellie
-
Great job Ellie. I heard if you lose slowly it will not come back. It is still too hot in the afternoons here to walk but I'm getting the morning walk in with my Dd and after work at 11 pm we go for a short walk. Makes me feel better no matter how short the walk is.
-
Good Job Ellie!
Joy, glad the old nose is okay! And your son too. So glad it's Friday. Cycling today. Didn't exercise last night to save up for a good ride today. This is what I told myself anyway!
-
Survivor, totally understand the depression thing, but don't succumb to it! Give yourself a time period to wallow in it, then say ok time's up, now off to do something constructive. I find that works. I'm doing better all, thanks. Had to wrap my mind around a couple of things, but all will be ok. Appreciate being able to voice concerns here and its ok. Whereas, I wouldn't do that on FB. I do have a FB group, that some of us from another thread on BCO formed a year ago. Its locked so the public can't read the posts. We can always do that too if anyone wants to, just keep it in mind.
I did gentle yoga last night and this morning and rode my bike (only 19 minutes) last night - REALLY hot here still, should break this weekend. After watching little Savannah Wed. night my back really hurts and my hip bothered me yesterday all day at work, so the gentle yoga did the trick! Its a miracle! The bike riding does aggravate my low back a bit, so must counter-balance with the yoga stretches.
Joy, so glad you and your doc are on top of the skin concerns!!!
Ellie, rock on girl!!! WOOHOO!!!!!
Happy Friday all!!
-
What a week! Virtually no exercise for me because this nasty cold/flu thing has lingered with body aches all week, and I swear my body is actually starting to sag! Then yesterday afternoon, as it was 113 degrees, our power went off. It turned out to be a major outage (it was on the national news), so we felt fortunate that it was restored around 9:30 last night. But in the mean time, DH had lit candles all over the house, including our bedroom and bath. So around 9:00 when I finally walked back to that area of the house, our bedroom was filled with thick smoke from a large, 3-wick candle that was literally a huge fireball on the bathroom vanity. What a smoky mess! We're just lucky it didn't ignite the cosmetics that were setting just inches away. It was pretty scary for a few minutes.
Congrats on the 5 lbs., Ellie! Keep it up!
Joy, so glad the stitches are out of your nose, and that everything's looking good. Did your doctor suspect any of these might be melanomas? Hope not, and hopefully they've totally gotten anything that was concerning. And glad your son & family are okay. As far as recipe ideas, I'm trying out a black bean salad I've never made for a picnic this weekend. I'll let you know if it goes over well.
Sorry you've been feeling depressed, survivorwoman. Do you think maybe the anniversary of 9/11 has something to do with it? I've found myself quick to tear up when I see anything on TV about it. I think the wounds are still there for all of us, and when you couple that with recovering from bc, I can understand what you're probably going through. But I was surprised that you're unhappy about fall. I would think it would be a beautiful time to ride your bike. Besides, it's probably not really turning cold yet. With luck you'll still have a beautiful Indian Summer.
Have a great weekend, everyone! I am so ready for a weekend of feeling better and getting back to being active! Deanna
-
Deanna, 113!! ahhhck!! Good for you for doing anything... It's been in the 80's here and very nice compared to July when we were in the 100's...
So tonight did hour bike ride with DH this evening. I was really strong because I skipped the elliptical last night... then blew the whole thing by going out to eat mexican food!!! It was beautiful out on the trails tonight. Nice way to end the work week!
DH is having a reaction to Sept 11, (he says that's why be ordered dessert tonight, fried ice cream!!) so I think this could be impacting moods. All these families, these kids without a parent. It's really heart wrenching, and all over the news!!!
TGIF!!

Survivorwomen, hope today is a better today
Kari, sorry to hear about receiving bad news
Deanna, right there with you, exercise took a back seat this week to being under the weather and the lymphedema is still kicking me, but, hoping today will be better
Ellie, I'm right there with you in wanting that 20 off, hopefully we'll be doing it together
-
Thank you all for your support.
Yes, my depression is a combination of many different things that had surfaced since my DX a year ago. First, it was the initial cancer DX, then doing treatment, now dealing with PTSD. Second, my marriage isn't working either. I also lost my job in May (of course I found another one, though, it is not the "dream" job I would have liked, but is a job). And now, Deanna- you are so right - 9/11 is here too and is definitely part of my current depression. I did not realize it until you said it, but the memory of it seeped into my mind unconsciously.
But I am pulling through it again. Had a 25 minute bike ride (each way) to the gym and back. And then I worked out on the elliptical for 30 minutes, too. Woohoo!
Thank you all so much for your kindness and your solidarity! I don't know what I would do if didn't have you ladies to talk to.
-
Hour bike ride today, and I think tomorrow. gorgeous out there!
Survivorwoman, way to go!
-
Glad to see that everyone is still out there, getting exercise. I have been walking, and even running sometimes.
I hope everyone is doing well. I agree that Sept. 11th anniversary is causing some depression.Hugs to all
Harley

No exercise for me yesterday b/c I had a friend visiting. (check out FB pix) Although I tried to resist I even had a beer.
Tonight, however, I will have a serious work out. I'll report back later on.
Have a nice week everyone!
-
WHOHOO!! I ran 3 miles on the treadmill today!!
Harley
-
Woohoo, Harley! Good for you!
After topping off my week of being sick and not getting any exercise with a picnic yesterday that included lots of great food I don't normally eat (Honeybaked ham, cookies, etc.), I have declared this week a serious week to get back in full control of exercising & a healthful diet -- starting with a 9,028 step walk (4.5 miles) this a.m., which felt great. Thankfully, it's a bit cooler today, so I shouldn't have any more reason to whine about the heat.
Anyone else with me in this? (Or maybe I'm the only one who needs it?) Deanna
-
Go Deanna!! I'm pulling out the Wii again and starting over. I can o this. It is even cooling down this weekend.Suppose to be in the 70's. That will be a change. Open the windows!!!
I'm with ya about 9/11. I didn't think much of it till that is all I saw on TV and got glued to the set again. Even was late for church. So many lost for no real reason. I didn't realize so many have not been found to date. So sad! Prayers for their families.
Glad you got to run again Harley. It is getting cooler now.
Survivorwoman - hang in there. My husband gave me divorce papers between chemo and rads. I am so much better off now. The main stress in my life is gone. Everyone have a great week.
-
Deanna
So glad you were able to get out and walk again!
Yes, I am SO glad the weather is cooling some.
