Exercise exhaustion with TE and chest pain?

I had a BMX 4/11 and had an infection on one side.  That TE was taken out 5/11.  I have been working out regularly  with one TE since 5/11, my old cardio and weight routine.  Also haven't been getting fills due to resting after the TE infection and waiting for redo on the other side.  Everything was going well until working out today (maybe a bit more intense), I felt like I was going to pass out and heavy breathing.  I stopped the workout and thankfully didn't pass out.  I think this is exercise exhaustion, because this happened very infrequently in the past. But this was the first time with TE and I had more heaviness in the chest and more difficulty breathing.  I hate to run to a cardiologist and I think this is probably normal with a TE if one also has exhaustion.  Has anyone else had experience with symptoms like this with a TE?

I exercise a lot and teach aerobics.  I had reconstructive surgery with tissue expanders too. During the fills I did have tightness in my chest and it was odd...I even felt chest pressure after I ate meals.  I found that when I spread out my fills and did not do them weekly it started to subside.  I also worked with a physical therapist through my fills/post OP to help with stretching the muscles because of the tightness of the TE's in the chest.  I felt like the TE on the R side was pushing into my chest from the outside in - if that makes any sense.  It did go reduce a lot with more stretching and completion of fills.  My TE were not that uncomfortable eventhough they were filled to 510cc's on my smaller body.  I attribute that to working with the PT and stretching daily.  Have you worked with a physical therapist?  My insurance covered it.  I suggest finding one that has experience with MX patients.  Mine was great and helped me a ton!  I know that's why I did so well.....

Thanks for your input,  mdg.  That is a great idea to look into PT, with someone experienced in BMX.  I am in Chicagoland too-western burbs--maybe your PT is nearby?  If so, please PM me. My ins will cover it.   So far, no more pressure or problems when I work out, but I did decrease the intensity a little bit.

I don't think I will be able to get to a very large size though, because of having a previous infection and opting out of a lattismus dorsi flap, which therefore means that I don't have a lot of skin to expand.   Gratefully, I found a new surgeon (3rd PS) to put the TE in without LD flap.

Hopefully you are doing very well now!
