Yeah Gilly! It's a little dark but you can see my hair looking pretty normal!
-
Lilah - I'm glad you posted a new photo so I'll recognize you in Las Vegas. Otherwise I'd be looking for a long-haired lady with a dog. Shoot...how did you know I walked the entire Appalachian Trail with a spoon balanced on my nose? Now I have to change my "something interesting" tidbit. (Actually, I have sent one in.)
I'm so looking forward to meeting Lilah and Gill in person!
Patty

Lilah, Gill, Patty.......Group hug for the August amazons!!!
-
Yes - we'll represent the group in Vegas. So strange (but good) to actually meet some of our group.
-
It is going to be quite fun!
-
I am so jealous of those of you going to Vegas - I so want to go. I know what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas, but if there is something fun to share I'd love to hear about it. When are y'all heading to Vegas? September? October?
I apologize for not writing sooner, but the fever landed me in the hospital again and again. In addition to more IV antibiotics the drs decided to remove my port. As of today I've gone 4 days without fever, knock on wood. If I have no fever for the next week, they will put another port in next week or so. I hate that I have to do chemo without the port, but it should only be one or two times.
Lilah / Penny - I am sorry you had to endure that nasty Irene........she was pretty angry. Glad to know that neither one of you were hurt or had bad damage to your homes.
(((((I'm in........... group hug)))))
-
Jenn,
Im so sorry to hear that you have still been struggling with the fever. Im so happy they have found what was causing it. You are a very strong woman. Keep your chin up and keep staying strong.
Irene was angry but we did get through it without any damage. It tooks its toll around us and looks like lee in next in line. Shouldn't be to bad though. Rivers are still pretty high but we are all hoping that they stay in thier banks one more time.
Mom is going for her new scans again this week. She has been feeling pretty good so I expect to hear nothing but good news.
Still nothing from the lawyer on her insurance issue. Sorta upset about it, seems like she is paying good money for him to represent her yet we know nothing. Guess its time to get my dander up and get him moving. I have on more than one occasion explained to him that this worries my mom alot and knowing where he is at is better than hearing nothing from him. Guess he didnt hear me very well. LOL.
Hope you all are moving along and have a great time in vegas!.
Penny

Jenn -- hugs to you too! We are fortunate to have gotten through with no damage and now hoping this new round of rain (several inches this week) doesn't add to the woes of those around who us who have had flooding. On the radio news tonight someone said: "the good news is they haven't started rebuliding yet" - how sad that THIS is the only good news right now for some in this area.
As for the port removal appearing to solve the problem -- wahoo!!!!
And we will be sure to keep you posted about the Vegas weekend; you'll be with us in spirit.
Penny -- keep your spirits up! Call the lawyer every week or so if you need info.
-
Lee was a slow moving storm, it poured tons of rain on our area. We were fortunate in that we didn't have the flooding problems that some others did. It was a quiet weekend and I kind of liked the weird weather, dark, windy and rainy - it was good for naps, reading and indoor projects. The weather behind it has been wonderful, no humidty, small breeze and lower temps. Loving it!!!
I had chemo without the port yesterday and it went really well. My veins didn't give us trouble and the nurse was very good about the saline rinse / flush before and after to make sure the chemo didn't stay in the veins.
Penny - I know it's hard, but sometimes the lawyers need the time to get their information together and obtain it from the other parties. In your case your attorney is dealing with an insurance company, which is a big corporation and lots and lots of paper. Unfortunately, because the attorneys are doing multiple cases at one time, they get busy and rather than relay information to you they tend to ignore calls or don't call. Have you tried talking to his secty or paralegal? She/He may be able to give you the status of the case or when they expect to know more. Good luck.
-
Jenn -- what a great idea for Penny. I know I always try to make friends with the front desk people in any business I work with/hire. It makes life easier. They usually know everything!
-
Lilah - you are so right about making friends. They are the very people that may take the phone call or meeting and help us get the information we need. I almost always try to play nice even when I'm really mad. I sad almost because sometimes slip ups happen.
Today I'm feeling cranky, down in the dumps and have pain issues. I really hate to feel this way! Steriods are a bitch! Venting.....
Jenn
-
Vent away Jenn...we're here for you. Wish there was something we could actually do, but we're thinking of you.
-
Ditto on what Gill said. You vent all you want Jenn! It's the least we can do (listen that is). So sorry you are feeling pain. Saying prayers for the pain to ease up. Sending hugs!
-
Ditto, ditto what Gill and Lilah said. Thinking of you often, Jenn.
Sorry your Zumba class was not good, Gill. Don't give up...try somewhere else with a different instructor. My Saturday class with have a different instructor this week. I am curiuos how that will go.
You Vegas girls are gonna have a blast. I am going with DH the end of October. But i would have loved to meet you all in person.

Hello everyone,
well lee has left his mark here too. Gosh we are all so tired of rain. Cant wait to see the sun again. The flooding issues have been so severe for everyone. Prayers that this too shall pass.
Jenn so sorry you are not feeling well. Hope it gets better for you. vent away. sometimes that is what helps us feel better.
We were suppose to meet with the lawyer today but our town flooded out and all business were closed. So it will have to be rescheduled. Thank you jenn for the ideas of speaking with someone from the front desk or a paralegal. I have tried that but they dont seem to have any real info. I know I have to be patient but its been a while and no news whats so ever. I can only be patient for so long. Mom has bills going into collection due to this and she had her pet scan today, (which we were not sure they would do) because of the status of the other bills. I dont want anything to delay the process of keeping her healty. She did get her pet scan so that is good. I just hate seeing mom worry about it.
I hope everyone is feeling well and has fun plans for the weekend. Me I will be cleaning up from lee this weekend.

(((Penny and Mom)))
Navy - went to zumba again today and was very frustrated once more. I might look elsewhere, but I have paid for this class - 3 times a week until the end of October so feel like I have to stick through a big chunk. Hope yours is good.
-
Gill - I'm sure I missed something. Why are you frustrated with the classes. Is it the dance itself or the instructor? Sorry that you're not having fun with the classes, it's suppose to be fun.
Penny - Wow! You've been through one storm after another. Did your home have any flooding? Sorry to hear the meeting with the attorney had to be rescheduled. I'm sure you've already done this, but maybe when you meet with the attorney talk to him/her about the lack of communication with his office. Good luck and I really am so sorry you have so much to handle and that your Mom is struggling so much.
Navy - sounds like you've been busy with navybaby and now a trip to Vegas - fun, fun, fun.
Jenn
-
Jenn - I think I posted on the TN ten pounds take off thread about the zumba class. I am new to zumba but am frustrated with the teacher. She doesn't teach basic steps and has no musical sense.
-
Gill -- is there only one teacher (I assume you would take a different class if you could)? I know I took jazzercize some years ago and I hated it because everyone else seemed to know the steps and I could not pick them up.
Penny -- sorry you are dealing with the flooding too. We are surrounded here by overflowing rivers. Thankfully, our own home is dry. My heart goes out to the people here who have seen their homes filled with water not once but twice in as many weeks. It is just wrong! Glad to see that today and tomorrow are going to be beautiful... which should help with drying things out.
Jenn -- how are you feeling today?
-
Lilah - For some reason I thought you escaped the second storm or your area escaped the second storm. Ugh! I am so sorry that both you and Penny have to deal with flooded neighborhoods. I know it's frustrating and the clean up process always seems to take so long. Has the weather following the storms been good in your area. The weather down here has been fantastic.
I am feeling okay today. I have my normal aches and pains, took my meds and am pretending that all is well. Thank you for asking. I scheduled myself for a manicure/pedicure in a few hours. I thought a little pampering was in order.
Gill - sorry to hear that your teacher isn't teaching the basic steps. It sounds like she isn't a good teacher if she isn't remembering the beginner students. Lilah mentioned Jazzercise and having trouble with the steps. Years ago I was a Jazzercise fanatic, but I remember when I first joined I didn't know a thing. I tripped over my feet, went left when everyone went right, jumped forward instead of back. It was a nightmare. I think I spent 6 months in the back of the class. Not sure if you've done this, but I used to stay after class and ask my teacher to help me with some of the steps and the names of the steps. Can you do that?
-
Thanks for all the zumba advice ladies. She is just a poor teacher and I get the impression she "wings it" a lot. On Monday there is a sub, so I will get a better feel for if my negative feelings are for zumba or just the teacher. I can't switch classes as the only other one is not at a time I can do. So I either suck it up and keep going to the end of October or bag it and waste my money!
-
Gill - good luck!!!
-
Gill -- sorry you have such a sucky choice! I would demand my money back.
Jenn -- glad you had a good weekend. Yeah we had a lot of rain here and though it wasn't a hurricane by the time Lee got here, the saturated area (from Irene the week before) was just not able to handle more. But the good news is all the flooded roads are back to normal now. Phew! I have to say I miss the drought years around here
-
Lilah - we live in such a small town one has to choose what waves to make. My (grown) boys cringe grocery shopping with me as I am likely to question the guy/girl on the deli counter about the unhygienic use of gloves (for example). For some reason they all seem to think the gloves are to keep their hands clean rather than to keep the food uncontaminated!!! Somebody always knows somebody etc etc.
-
Gill -- I feel your pain! I guess you have to just tough it out or eat the cost as a loss. Too bad you could not take one class to try it out and see how you liked it first.
-
Actually Lilah I could and should have done that. They do take walk ins. But I was just thinking "get a spot before the class fills up." I'll just chalk it up to experience.
-
Ha! Gill, I always ask the person at the deli counter to change gloves. I ask nicely and usually blame me by saying I worry a lot about germs. But, you're right they think the gloves are for their protection not ours or both.
-
Gil - Maybe the advice a friend's zumba instructor gave her class will help you through the classes you signed up for. The instructor said...don't look in the mirror, don't worry about whether you are doing it right, just keep moving. Obviously it would be more fun to learn the routines, but getting the exercise is also good. No?
Patty -
Good advice Patty!
-
My new port was put in yesterday. I didn't expect it to go in this week, but when I went to meet the new surgeon (my old one moved) he had one open day for the next two weeks and it happened to be yesterday. It went really well and the hospital drugs they gave me were wonderful. I had no pain all of yesterday!!!! And..........apparently I said and did some funny things in recovery that my sister told me about and I have no memory of - Gotta love the hospital drugs.
Tomorrow is our home season opener for the Saints - GO SAINTS!!!!
If any of you are Bear fans, sorry we have to go against each other this week.
