Went to yoga, new instructor til end of the year - seemed more like a deep stretching class last night. Got up early and walked 30 min on the treadmill - haven't done that in AGES! Dark out in the mornings, weather is slowly changing.
Deanna, you should try the mall walking when its so miserably hot outside. Its kind of fun walking to the music and people/shop watching! Although 10 miles vs 2 miles (the distance from the mall from my office) is quite a challenge.
LE sufferers - hugs.
Molly, 20 min = GREAT!

Hi Ladies - sorry for not responding sooner. Last week's earthquake then the hurricane just threw me off and it took me a couple of days to re-focus. I also joined the Y recently (thanks to this thread and the motivation I get from you Ladies) and had been going there, too. I really enjoy it. I am so grateful for the scholarship they gave me. I couldn't have been able to afford it otherwise. I did an hour Zumba today (well.... jumping around on my part, as I am learning the steps) and also did twenty minutes on the elliptical that Spring made me curious about. It was all fun. Tomorrow morning I will do yoga and maybe a nice bike ride in Prospect Park.
Deanna: so good to hear that your mammo went well. I was relieved to hear the news.
Harley- your NED status is fabulous news, too! Congrats!
Kari- I sent you a PM with my FB info. Hope to see you there.
Molly- welcome to our thread. I think this one is the best. Keep exercising and don't forget to report back to us.
-
45 on the elliptical last night and back on a sensible diet!!! Bye bye vacation!
Deanna, I'll PM you the name.
Did you like Zumba, Survivorwoman? I never tried but I think I would love it...
Yoga tonight!!!
-
Hi Spring- yeah! I enjoyed Zumba, but I am still learning the steps. It is salsa dance, but with a workout built into it.I think in about a month I should be a lot better at it. Nevertheless, even last night's beginners class made me sweat. It is definitely a good workout. I was sore after it. This morning I tried pilates (60minutes) and (hoo boy) it was hard! I also did ten more minutes on the elliptical. I think I am done for the day. I am off from work today. So it is beach time! Well.... whatever is left of the beach after Irene.

Deanna, Kari, kmmd, Spring, Survivorwoman, Molly, and ALL...
I am calmer now, and will do some serious thinking before quitting the Tamoxifen. It just scared me, the thought of having this in my spine, causing pain all over my body!
Kari, I will definitely try to get some more information about exercise and that type of thing.
The pain seems to have subsided for now, and I even went for a run this morning. The weather has cooled and it is so NICE!Oh Spring,
HUGS So sorry to hear about your other bc.org friend, and her diagnosis. Hope all is well with her. I HATE this hideous disease!!
Molly,
I agree... I am scared to take these drugs, but I am scared NOT to take them, too... for sure,
positive thinking and exercise, and trying to eat right, all help to keep us on track.

Yoga was rockin. She had us moving so much we worked up a sweat! Feels so good to do that deep relaxation after a good yoga workout.
Tomorrow is elliptical unless we cycle. hmmm.
I noticed tonight in Yoga that my body was much stronger after cycling 2 hours 6 days in a row. I just find it interesting how fast our body can change. And, I assume change BACK now that I am back working and less time for exercise. Oh well! On we go!!!
-
Someone kick me - I need to get on here more. Irene took electric and and a lot of trees down. I stayed at the Inn. My trailer did fine and glad to be back in it. For my 3rd cancerversary on Sunday I got electric back on!! Sweet!! My son just got cell service back on. He lives on Hatteras Island which is cut off from everyone now. He and Michelle are fine. The girls were sent off the island and have not retruned yet. School is now delayed till Sept 6. Now we are watching the next one.
PRY was fantastic. Yoga on the beach is sooo relaxing.
Had another basal cell taken off of my nose. Doctor said that the chemo messed my immune system and that is the reason they are popping up.
Between gaining weight at PYR and Hurricane junk I need to exercise again. Will get back on the track again. I have an April wedding to get in shape for. Don't want to embarrass my son! lol
-
I am dieting too Joy! All the "being away from home" does it to me. Glad you are okay! Good you are taking care of the basil cell junk!
I am glad you are okay! I thought about your son on Hatteras Island - the pics on the new of the washed out roads, UNREAL!!!
-
Peeking in quickly, at work and have been crazy busy.
Went for a walk last night with DD and my grandbaby girl and the doggies, HEAVEN!!
Joy, good to see you back
Hi everyone else, will report back when I get some time to breathe.
OH by the way, the yoga teacher we had the other night said that research shows that the relaxation part at the end of yoga does more for your well being (or something like that) than the actual exercise.
-
Kari,
I like that part of the yoga... the relaxation at the end... it's my FAVORITE part! lol
Joy, glad you are back. I missed you.
Hope everyone is doing well.
I will see my surgeon tomorrow, to see if he has any ideas. He may be able to recommend a specialist to see... geez... ANOTHER SPECIALIST....
Harley
-
Yeah I've heard that the deep relaxation after the intentional movements is good for you, healing! yay.
So We had to go out tonight for a get together but right after work I JUMPED on the elliptical and did 45 minutes, before dinner even! Very proud of myself for actually working it out.
-
DH and I rode our bikes last night together! How fun was that? FUN!! AND I actually got up early, couldn't sleep, and exercised before getting ready for work. I feel good!
-
Kari! Welcome to the world of biking with DH!!! The weekend is here and we'll also be doing that. The temps will be such that we won't need to get up at 6AM to do it!!!
-
Lucky you! 100 here, but only 95 on Sunday! YAY!! Have fun spinning your wheels!!
-
WOW! You are all keeping so active!
I have been bad for the past couple of days... my dh wanted to go to the beach yesterday, so I didn't get a walk in. Then today, well, I saw my surgeon, and I didn't sleep very well, so after I got home, I have been just too tired...
Maybe tomorrow...
Harley
-
Harley -what did the surgeon say??
Walked my dog as usual and looking forward to a cooler weekend. Wow in the 80's. I'm working and the Inn is full this weekend. Everyone have a great long weekend.
-
I read that once. Sitting after a work out and thinking about it and the high or calm it gives you does a lot of good. I try to do it..
Hello all. LE still being a bear, but, the work outs are still getting in! Hugs to all of my favorite group of people
-
Did 50 on the elliptical! Looking forward to 3 days of biking this weekend. The weather should be nice, not too hot here! Yay!
Harley, sending light to you! Hope all is okay....
-
kmmd, sorry about your LE...
Thanks, Spring!, and Joy, for thinking about me.
My surgeon says that I should take Fish Oil... I was taking fish oil, and then I switched to Mega Red Krill oil... so now it's back to Fish Oil... I will try to take more... No one has any other ideas... I did ask if he thought maybe there hormonal treatments may have accelerated the arthritis. He just said: Maybe it's time for you to come off these drugs.
Then he was quiet for a minute... then he said: But, if after 20 years, you have a recurrence, you will be wishing you'd stayed on for the full 5 years....He knows me so well... He also said that he doesn't know too much about these drugs... I know, it's not his area of expertise... but he is the only one who will admit that these drugs MAY have something to do with my problem...
Hope everyone is having a wonderful Labor Day weekend!!
Harley
-
Harley, that doesn't sound fun. pooh.
1 hour bike ride today only to return to car and find DH had locked the keys in the car! Only had to wait 30 minutes for AAA, so not bad all in all!!
-
Spring,
Oh, sorry you had to wait for AAA... but glad it was not too long of a wait...
Harley

Looks like the next storm might miss us. On Wednesday I get my 12 stitches out of my nose and some put in my leg. So that means I won't be able to walk for a few days and then not far for about 2 weeks. Bummer!!
I mowed my yard yessterday and will get my Dd's walks in before Wednesday morning. Hope everyone had a great weekend.
-
Had some bad news lately which has affected my mood. Trying to remain positive and get some motivation. Went shopping with my DD and GDD Savannah, which made my day very happy! Little heat wave upon us the next few days, blah! Back to the mall at lunch to walk today.
Joy, a guy in our office (used to play a great deal of tennis) has been getting skin cancers surgically removed for a couple of years, he heals a couple of months, then he's back in getting the next one taken care of. NOT FUN!! BUT glad you are on top of it. Glad you cooled down a bit so you could get some chores done outside!
Harley, interesting what your surgeon said. I thought krill was really good to take.
kmmd, your LE isn't giving you any relief??
Spring, I had to laugh at the keys in the car, not funny but since you had AAA and all was well, I had to giggle - isn't it always something...Happy you were not alone.
Survivor/Katia, good to see you on FB!
Hope we all have a great week, hugs to you all
-
Kari, I hope you are okay!!!
BOOMers here today and flash flood warnings. So that's either make up Yoga or elliptical. We'll see!
-
Kari, you are absolutely in my prayers today!
Survivor, I just sent you a FB friend request!
Joy, are you having a skin cancer taken off your leg tomorrow? Didn't you have something like that not too long ago? Good luck with it, and the nose too! 12 stitches sounds like quite a wound!
Spring, flash floods can be so scary. Do you live near a creek?
Sounds like we're all experiencing some weather changes. It was just 84 and rainy here yesterday. Heaven! And it's raining today, which is such a rarity for us.
Just when I was literally thinking how strong my immune system must be because I never get sick anymore -- bingo -- I get a nasty sore throat & head cold. So I spent the whole weekend feeling terrible -- plus weak and out-of-shape. Can't wait to feel better!
Enjoy the 4-day work week everyone! Hi to those not mentioned by name! (My mind is too fuzzy to write more.) Deanna
-
Deanna, hope you feel better soon!
Kari, still thinking of you.
Joy, I hope your leg is okay! Hang in there.
-
Deanna,
Hope you are feeling better soon!
Survivor,
I am also on FB... do you want to send me a PM, with your name?? I will PM you with mine...
Harley

Thanks ladies, my sweet sista's. Thank goodness it isn't health related, I'm counting my blessings. Some things are out of my control...and I'm very much in control ususally!! Thank you for thinking of me.
I did walk briskly, 30 minutes at the mall during lunch today so that was good for my mood.
Deanna, I saw the line of rain hitting SoCal on the news today. How nice in the midst of a routine day to day same hot forecast to get some rain and weather in the 80's...WOW!!!
-
Survivor, I am on FB too!! PM your name and we'll hook up!
Kari, glad it is not health. phew.
-
Hi Ladies--it is nice to be back home again. I was in Philadelphia for two days enjoying a bit of history and some amazing foods. My favorite food was tagliatelle with three different mushrooms and truffle oil. Although, I was vacationing I still managed to do some excersizing at the hotel's gym and swimming pool. Plus I walked a lot. However, I did nothing today. I wanted to, but it is pouring here in Brooklyn. Hope the weather gets better tomorrow. I really want to ride my bike.
Spring- I sent you a PM and Harley-I found you on FB, too.
