Getting ready to start rads, what is a CTC?

    I had 3 lumpectomies for DCIS in my right breast. I had my radiation consultation yesterday and I have a CTC schedule for Tuesday. What exactly is a CTC? what will it show and I am scared to death it will  show something else wrong with me.

    I am fortunate with the 3 lumpectomies that I had allot to give and you cannot tell any difference in the size of my breast

    There is a blood test called a CTC (circulating tumor cells) but that doesn't sound right in this circumstance, as this test is usually ordered by an Onc.

    Is it possibly a CT scan?

    Other than these two, I'm stumped.

    Thank you Jelly, I know it is not a blood test, from what I can remember them telling me and right now I am on "information overload" they put me in something like a MRI machine and scan my breast.. any way I glad I made it to radiation.. I was really scared I was going to lose a breast..

    I had my CTC, but I should have called it a CTS, that is when they put me in the radiation machine  and do  imaging of my breast and set the markers!! Ready. set, Go! I start my rads next Thursday 9/15/11 everyday at 2:20 for 6 weeks! I am getting ready for the challenge, but I will beat this cancer!! 10/27/11 is my magic date, the day I hope my rads end!!
