WEIGHT GAIN
I am so frustrated with the amount of weight I have gained during my chemo treatments. I have gained over 15lbs in 2.5 months. I completed my AC treatments and more than half way through my Taxol treatments. I am getting steroids in my IV when doing chemo. I know this can cause weight gain. I am looking to see if anyone else is having this problem or if they have complete treatment and came off the steroids and lost the weight they gained.

Tanya - it's not unusual to gain weight during chemo. Not only do the steroids pack it on, but the chemo drugs themselves can cause weight gain. I gained 22 pounds. Some women are able to keep up an exercise program during chemo and that seems to help, but I was one of those that fatigue hit really hard, and it was all I could do to drag myself back and forth to work.
The good news? I've lost 12 of those 22 pounds. So it is possible to lose those chemo pounds.
Don't let them stress you out. Exercise and eat as healthy a diet as you can, but don't obsess if you gain weight. Good luck!

tanya - pretty much everyone in my chemo group gained, both from chemo, steroids and inactivity. I retained an enormous amount of fluid with tx#'s 5&6. The MO put me on a diuretic and I lost 10 lbs. right away. I still have 15 to lose, half of that from chemo. I have been losing about 1 lb. per week now that I am a couple of months past the last chemo. That has been the case for many of the peeps in my group.

I gained 25lbs in just two weeks after finishing taxotere treatments. I could hardly walk from the extra water weight and could not wear any of my regular shoes to work. I had to get compression hose, and my insurance covered a walker that I had to use for about a month. I was put on a diuretic but it dropped my blood pressure so low I ended up in the emergency room. Anyway, I lost 12 lbs fairly quickly, but have been struggling since January 2011 with the other 13. I've always been fairly small framed so I shouldn't complain but it really makes me angry sometimes that I have to work at losing the last of the weight.

I gained about 15 pounds....I am 4 weeks PFC and have dropped about 5 of those pounds. I have started walking again and that helps. Getting a little nervous as the weather is starting to change and I am not sure the jean will fit....

I finally met my goal weight and treated myself to a photo shoot. I think you can view them if you do not have FB. I think every woman who has fought breast cancer should do a shoot like this. I did wonders for what I thought about myslef. Please like his page as well. Its a new site for him too. Thanks everyone. Hope all is well.
