Ladies in their 40's Welcome to Shady Oaks!

I'm 44. Journey & Foreigner will be here at the end of September, and I've got tickets. Also have Cyndi Lauper tickets for October cause girls want to have fun. My 19 year old said "who's that?"
-
Doesn't the sign hanging over the entrance to Shady Oaks say, "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun!!" ???
-
I'm 44 and I'm checking in to Shady Oaks as well. I was a new wave kinda girl back in the day, so I'm bringing Bananarama, Oingo Boingo, ABC, The Thompson Twins, Modern English and Talk Talk. And, because I'm the punker, I have to bring my Dippity Doo to go along with the White Rain hairspray. Gotta spike this crazy chemo hair up.
-
i think there is a saying: "middle-aged is always at least 6 years younger than whatever age you are." planning to get shady oaks written up by the police for noise violations and public nudity.
-
Move on over! This old lady is moving in. 40 (12 days before my 41st birthday)at diagnoses and now 43. How about some Billy Joel and Loverboy??
-
Let's really shake up the home: Sex Pistols, Ramones, The Clash, The Kinks...Jim Carroll... We'll be the only old folks' home with a mosh pit.
-
othermother...ha!
Y'know we could actually have an internet radio station.
-
OK I'm in, especially with othermother's picks. Can we add X and the B-52s in there? I just found this thread and it made me SO happy, thank you!
Toni (42 at diagnosis, just turned 44)

Alright ladies!! I do believe we are getting a great start on the music!! I don't think the boys in blue will be writing any violations, they will be joining us!!
Now, how about the drinks!! I tend to mix it up depending on my mood, beer is always a good staple, however an occasional pina colada, kahlua and cream, or coconut rum with pineapple juice is always good!
-
WAKE UP!! Apparantly we are falling asleep!!
No sleeping allowed at Shady Oaks!!
-
I'm in. Always had a soft spot for Tom Petty (well I know what's right, I got just one life, In a world that keeps on pushing me around But I won't back down And I'll stand my ground) and Elvis Costello( the other Elvis too). And since chemopause I'm a Blister in the Sun :-)

wow, I saw Billy Squier open for Foreigner in HS. He really knew how to strut his stuff, glad he's still doing it!
-
Sorry must've been the post anethesia haze.. Give me a minute and I will fire up the blender for margaritas!
-
Sorry - I really was sleeping!! This afternoon at least. Could go for one of those margs oldie. Fire it up quick. Turning on a little Bryan Adams to ease me into the evening, or should I choose good old Rick S?
-
Time to switch from Bryan A to Rick S or Motley Crue as someone appears to be snoozing facedown in the spinach dip!
-
heard New Order (Bizarre Love Triangle) in the car today - that always brings back good eighties memories. ...
I feel fine and I feel good
I'm feeling like I never should
Whenever I get this way
I just don't know what to say
Why can't we be ourselves like we were yesterday * am I ever going to stop thinking of lines like that in terms of how I was pre breast cancer. -
Yeah, I'm a punk rocker from the olden days. X, The Cure, Dead Kennedys, Depeche Mode, Iggy Pop, David Bowie, Violent Femmes....... rock on!
I always think of The Ramones anytime I have a procedure....Bah bah bah bah, I wanna be sedated!
-
In honor of this thread I am going to have a margarita with(for) dinner, I think..I prefer the Cadallac on the rocks time, rather than the frozen..although beer is always good on a hot day.. I stay awY from the mojitos..something about the whole mint thing..
Have a great evening everyone! -
-
Been drinking my Kahlua and cream lately, have REALLY felt like I have needed it. Is that proof that I am getting old?? Or maybe just bitchy!
