Hauntie,
I will echo what the other ladies have said - You go girl!
I'm glad your day at the medical center is done - I had someone's elbow in my ear as it was getting fairly crowded in that left pocket! Let us know when you can what your results are. I'm sure all will be well.
Hugs,
Trish

Way to assert yourself, Hauntie. Have some drain-free fun with the ladies on Monday. Let us know if you get an "A" on all your tests.
-
Hauntie, you didn't hurt my hand at all when you squeezed the devil out of it! Especially when you were demanding that drain be removed! Good for you!! I'm sure you will be much more comfortable now that it is out. Have a wonderful trip and please tell everyone hello for me!
I'm sure your test results will be just fine.
You did great!

Thanks for all the support and approval of my warrior woman performance today. My BC is a 2 time cancer survivor (endometrial and ovarian) so she should be able to see it from our side, but I think she had her MD hat firmly tied on. Probably had it tied on during her own treatment as will, so still doesn't quite get how us commoners experience the Big C. I'm sure we'll discuss this the next time I see her.
-
{{{ Hauntie }}} Whew, what a day!
Awaiting good news, I be, I be, along with you, you'll see, you'll see

♥
-
Changed my avitar to my alternate personality - Wonder Woman - until after the test results come back. Big C don't mess with me.
-
Awesome girl! You rock it for all of us by making yourself heard loud and clear. Have a great time at the dinner, I feel it in my whole being that you will do well. Kitty

Guess I'm the first one up.Went out and got the donuts to start the day. Now I have to find a Starbucks that's open. . .
-
Looks good I have to go to second radation appt today at 830am.
-
Oh pass one of those donuts, it will go good with this coffee! TGIF. It's been a long week. Thankfully nothing planned this weekend except removing one fallen tree. That's it! Rest, relax!
DH still has no work - week 5 coming up. He's not driving me that crazy anymore. Don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing...lol
Foxy -
Heres ya some Starbucks Clarie!

-
Hauntie...you did great on the drain! You told them and that had to have felt great. Good thing I was deep in that pocket, a lot of the yelling and screaming got stifled. LOL.
I just KNOW that all your tests will be fine and you are going to have a wonderful trip.
Enjoy Hauntie! I have a friend visiting from out of state, she got here yesterday. If I am not here when you post the test results, that is the only reason why. Just know I am always close.
Hugs to you, brave one!
Janis

Good for you, Hauntie. Sometimes we tend to pull back becaue we don't want to hurt our caregivers' feelings. Unfortunately, it usually results in us being ramrodded into something we don't want. Afterall, they work for us, we should have some say-so in what we want.
-
Had breakfast already but I will take one for later. I do have my coffee.
-
Just got up. SC (sister cousin - we're both the only girts in our families) are meeting another cousin, who's visitng from Maine, for an early lunch.. We're a close group of girl cousin's, on my father's side. We call ourselves "The Apostlettes" because there are 12 of us. As many of us that can try to get together twice a year - once in the spring, at my cousin's in Maine and once in the fall, at my cousin's on Cape Cod.
Here's a a little factoid, that my BC finds very interesting. On my paternal side, there were 4 brothers who had daughters. Of those 4 brothers, 3 of them have had daughters who had breast cancer. That's 3 out of 7 daughters that have had BC. One group of 3 sisters have never been diagnosed. Of the other brothers' daughters (brodaughs for short) only 1 has not been diagnosed . None of the daughters of the sisters (sisdaughs) have ever been diagnosed with BC. My BS is convinced there is some sort of genetic component. As far as we know this is the first generation affected by breast cancer.
I unfortunately, got the double whammy, as there is a history of BC on my mother's side - my mother (2X), one of her 3 sisters (2x), and one of her brother's daughters, who unfortunately passed away from the disease.
-
Amzing the connection there. I see many women here whose mothers have been dx'd. I happen to be one of those quirky cases who doesn't have BC as far back as we can tell on either side. Leave it to me to be "original".
-
I thought it was supposed to 'jump' a generation. My grandma had it, so I got it. My mom didn't.
-
Hautie I just wish they would hurry up and find a cure so that my grandkids dont have to deal with this crap. I too have a nasty history with this and am tired of it. My granny and auntie both had it. Then my younger sissy had it 2x in her 30's. All 3 of the survived it so am I. My granny was a very luckey woman because she had it at a time when there wasnt much they could do for it. She had it in the 1950s and lived well into her 80's. I ended up with it 2x in my 40's. I did get BRCA tested and I am positive. My other sissy got tested and thank God she is negative. I strongly talk to my daughter about this and I pray that she doesnt have this gene as well. I sometimes wish I never got tested sometimes because of the mind games, but somedays Im glad I did because of my kids. It also helped me make decisions on how I wanted to procede with surgery. I did choose to have both of them removed because this of the fact I had cancer in both breasts in less then 1 1/2 years apart. The 2nd time it wasnt caught as fast as the first time. I dont see how, but I cant play the game of why why why in my head anymore. I had to make room for other stuff instead, lol.
-
When it comes down to it we all just need to be well informed when making in our decisions. I am still up in the air about getting the BRCA test. My husband does not want me to do it, I do not have history in my family of it unless you take my 7th cuz SherryC. It seems that my generation of cousins have had several forms of different cancers. So I am still considering getting the genetic test.
Looks like I have been missing a lot of fun this week.
I had some frozen grapes this moring but the donuts look inviting too.
Lynniea - how are you holding up with your rads hope you are well.
First football game tonight, have concession duty, oh boy. What we do for our kids.
-
Meece - Guess that makes me an "original" in my family too. No history here either.
-
Same here Jo no history in my family of BC either.
-
No history here for me except my 7th cuz mjbmiller. I did do the BRCA test and was negative. If it had been positive I had decided to have an ooph but since negative i'll keep the ovaries and see how long they hold up.
Hauntie it was a busy day yesterday. I must have fallen asleep in your pocket cause when i woke up everyone was gone. Hope all the test come back with wonderful news.
I needed starbucks and donuts to start the morning. I am with the rest of you TGIF.
Tomorrow I am going to drive my mother to Katy. All of her siblings are getting together. They are all spending the night at my uncles house but my mom does not want to leave my dad and he does not feel up to going. She has had some fainting spells herself and was going to drive by herself. I said absolutely not. It is one thing going close to home but another thing driving 2 hours. No way. She started to argue with me and I just told her I was not arguing about it I was just not going to let her do it. Now if you knew my mother she is a very strong willed women. My brothers tell me I'm the only one that gets away with talking to her like that. I tell them they are just scared. haha
-
Sherry... good for you ! and how lucky that your mom has you to look out for her best interest!
-
Driving is a tricky issue with elderly parents. A lot just don't want to give up the freedom. A lot overestimate their ability too. A lot of times it does come down to their kids saying no.
I got to totally sidestep that issue. Even tho' my mom had driven herself to her weekly chemo for over a year, after she came out of the hospital and moved into my house she never wanted to drive. She was in a new town, so didn't want to learn where everything since I was available to take her anyway. Then, once I asked her if she wanted to just drive (her car) around the neighborhood, (I wanted to see how she would do) and she said she didn't feel up to it. That was that.
-
Here is a family photo from last weekend. This is with MIL and FIL. Unfortunately my dad was not feeling well and did not come that day and mom did not want a photo without him so maybe I can get them another time.
-
Sherry - What a lovely family photo. I found you right away - one of the loveliest in the bunch and it appears good looks run in that family. Your parents are so blessed to have you looking after them - I know they really appreciate everything you do.
