Gracie, I am sorry tohear your news. Sending hugs.
Athena, The Libby Celebration Libation is a variation of a drink called the Bootsie Collins. Pour 2 oz blueberry vodka over ice. Add freshly made lemonade. Add blueberries. Can top off with sparking water, if desired.
I would love to meet you too. Actually I want to meet all of you. Bren is the only person on bco I've met.
-
Cherryl, nice to finally "meet" you - you are a superb bartender. And a chaplain too, I hear. Perfect combination of ...compassion and compassion. You must get earfuls from customers at the BCO B&G.
-
Hi Athena. Yep, I love my customers at the BCOB&G. I told Bren I was going to get certified as a bartender, because both jobs require a good listener, and bartenders get tips!!!!
Did I tell you I lived in DC for 15 years. I used to look forward to Fall when I was there. Now that I'm in the frozen tundra I dread it. It means the ice age is just around the corner.

my Bobba kitty

Deleted the other one. This one is better. This is Bobba

Rosemary, he is a dead ringer for the cat my dh had when we were dating. We called her Pits because she loved to snuggle up in his armpits.
-
-
Oh Gracie
I am so sorry. I just came on and posted my pictures before I read your post. This stupid disease sucks.
-
PITS. Hahahahahahaha!
-
Rosemary .. your litties are so cute! I think Baxter will get over his shyness.
Pip .. my Tank sticks his head in my armpit all the time while I'm typing. Guess it's convenient for him!
Chaplain ... I bet you do hear all kinds of stories .. I think you're the greatest and hope to see you again soon.
Enjoyful .. How are you feeling today?
hugs all,
Bren

Cherryl, I have heard horror stories about winters in the Midwest but summers here are really brutal.
Rosemary -awwwwww!
-
((((Gracie))))). Oh, I was so saddened to hear of your latest dx. We've missed you here, and I know we're all pulling for you to be as comfortable as possible. Glad that your DH is truly a Dear H and the nurse will be helpful to you. Don't know what else to say, other than to send you lots of gentle cyberhugs, and remind you that, as Cindy just said, you are well and truly loved!
-
Althea, I have not forgotten those summers, 98F/99 percent humidity!!!
-
((((Gracie))))) Echoing what others have said: there's always a seat for you at the BCO B&G. When you're feeling well enough to skim our posts, we'll do our best to amuse you and lighten your day. And when you're not up to checking in, you can be damn sure we're sending our care and concern your way. Not to mention the virtual litties to snuggle in your armpits and miniature horses to curl up on your lap (!!!).
L
Edited to change "armputs" to "armpits."
-
Well .. I'm ready for a nice cold drink. The heat ratcheted up again today with a heat index of 104. The last few days were so wonderful in the low 80's.
Hope everyone had a really good day,
Bren

I'll have a raspberry lemonade, please. No alcohol, as I have to drive to the airport tonight to pick up my sweetie who's coming in for the weekend.
And here's an update on the college front. My daughter is love, love LOVING anything and everything about her first week there. Loves the campus, loves her classmates, loves her dorm, loves the city, loves her professors, loves her classes, loves the baristas at the local coffee shop, etc. etc. etc. It warms my heart to hear her - she's just, well, giddy with happiness. And the kids she's fallen in with sound like a really great group: slightly nerdy, geekily enthusiastic, funny and sweet. I like the fact that their idea of a great time is taking a stuffed animal on a tour of the city (they've given it its own voice and personality and are thinking of making a series of videos about its adventures) and performing funny little routines for kids on the subway. Such a relief that she's doing so well! (Though maybe I should be concerned that she doesn't seem to be touched by even a teeny, tiny bit of homesickness.)

Lewing,
I was so glad when my son fell into the geeky group at college. Four years later they all graduated together, on time, and are all into grad school now.
-
The BCOB&G is now open.
-
Linda, I feel your angst (well..not really but a little). When step-daughter 1 took off for college, the first three months were where she only came home to do laundry for free and hang out with her friends. Then Thanksgivng and Christmas then she started coming home about once a month just to 'hang out' with the old farts. Go figure. And she is coming to visit me from Seattle the end of Jan. and I can't wait. Haven't seen her in maybe 6 years.
-
Rosemary, I just had to tell you your new fur baby is adorable!!
-
Rosemary your litty is bigger than my 2 pooches put together. How much does he weigh?
-
Barbara, she says she wants to come home for her fall break (they give them a long weekend in October, not sure why), but only because she needs to bring back more cold-weather clothes (and doesn't trust me to do it).
L
-
L, thanks for the update. Keep us posted.
-
My son and his friends used to call themselves "The Nerd Herd". They are all 22-23 years old now, some have already graduated, some are still in college, all are doing well.

Linda .. I'm so tickled to hear how Katie is enjoying her college experience. She sounds so happy ... I would be so proud of her!
I know when my son moved out, I missed him a lot more than he missed me.
And somehow, they grow up and become great adults!
hugs,
Bren
-
Blue .. I really think Baxter is bigger than Lilah and Virgil ... put together!
Give them a hug and smooch from me.

Nearly midnight - DH and I have been out rocking again. Went to a pub with live music - 2 guys playing covers from the 70's - absolutely fabulous - I love Edinburgh!!!! We stayed until they finished - there weren't many who knew the words like we did. Happy Susie!!!

Hey Everyone -
Bren - I'm doing okay. Achey and tired, but that's the Arimidex talking. Your son is the BEST, thanks to the example you set and your excellent parenting!
Lewing - I'm so glad your daughter found a home with some nerdy kids! They're the best, I swear. ("Armputs"....*snort*)
