His Face in My Journey
Breast cancer for me was a spiritual journey. It wasn't a journey I would have chosen for myself, but God was amazingly gracious as He carried me through. I've spent the past year writing my story to remember what God has done, and to encourage others who are in the midst of their own journey. If you are in need of hope from someone who has walked in your shoes, consider reading my story. I would love to hear what you think. Pumpkinweed

Pumpkinweed, I read your blog. Your faith inspires me. Although, throughout my life journey, I've seen God take people on a different direction and some through the valley of death...but as the Psalmist says in Psalms 23, although I walk through the valley of death I will fear no evil for Thou art with me.
I have had a few friends, who's exited planet earth, due to breast cancer. Our life and times are in God's hand so said the Psalmist. It was their time to go home. I am safe in the Lord's hands and nothing can touch me without God's permission. So...when God calls me Home, it maybe due to cancer or whatever, but the greater call is from life to life. I don't fear death because I know one day I will step into heaven where there will no longer be tears or sorrow.
When I was first told I had cancer the verse in Romans 8:28 came to me that all things work together for good to those who love God...so then and there I decided to look for the good. The month before the surgery, I felt complete peace knowing that God was holding my hand through it all. A few months later I saw in life why a lumpectomy is necessary...to pull out death growing in us...and sometimes that is removing yourself from toxic people around you.
I'm learning that God is working a story in all of us. None of our stories are alike because we are all so uniquely different. I just don't want people to feel like a recurrence is due to their lack of faith. Life is filled with tests, trails and tribulations. The greatest miracle is standing strong in the storm (such as Daniel three friends did in the furnace).

Hi Evebarry,
Thank you so much for your encouragement. I was happy to hear that you read my blog and were inspired. Somtimes I go back and read my own posts and they seem so surreal... it is very important to write down our unique stories so that we can remember what God has done in our lives and share it with others. I am sorry that you have known people who did not experience healing from cancer. That reality will always be hard to bear and impossible to understand. But I think you are right on - it's about life to life. My hope is in Him and the eternal life to come. The challenge of this life is to trust God in all circumstances, and recognize how He works good out of it all (Ro 8:28). I hope that I did not give the impression on my blog that recurrence is due to lack of faith?? Please let me know if I did, as that was not the message I was trying to send. I simply wanted to honor and glorify God for how He revealed Himself to me. Love and blessings to you, Evebarry. Thank you for posting here!

Hey Ladies,
Would it be helpful to publish my blog as a devotional called "His Face in Your Journey"? I have felt a stirring that perhaps what I've written will encourage others in their faith walk with God through cancer. I would structure it so that the focus is on the reader's journey, just using my story as a backdrop for encouragement and to spark conversation with the Lord. Would appreciate anyone who is able to review my blog and give me feedback. Thank you!
