Okay the latest on my arm. I probably injured it at some point. So I am waiting for an orthoped appt which take a very long time. Until then I am to rest it.
-
Cowgirl: Please refresh my (poor) memory--what happened to your arm, again?
Carrie: How you doing, girl?
Shemp: What's the good word in your neck o' the woods?
As for me, I'm getting some much-needed inspiration this morning from Mr. Tom Petty (ala "I Won't Back Down" -- see lyrics below):
Well I won't back down, no I won't back down
You can stand me up at the gates of hell
But I won't back down
No I'll stand my ground, won't be turned around
And I'll keep this world from draggin' me down
Gonna stand my ground and I won't back down
Hey baby, there ain't no easy way out
Hey I will stand my ground
And I won't back down.
Well I know what's right, I got just one life
In a world that keeps on pushin' me around
But I'll stand my ground and I won't back down
Hey baby there ain't no easy way out
Hey I will stand my ground
And I won't back down
No, I won't back down
Hugs fer everybody,
Greg -
Greg!
I realised I never posted here I had a problem! I am so ditzy sometimes and it really has nothing to do with BC. My arm is not okay, I was not sure what was wrong but I thought maybe the exchange surgery did something. So my PCP said yesterday I have probably injured my shoulder at some point. It probably has nothing to do with BC other than me trying to get back to where I was. So now I wait for an orthopedic! Which with this HMO will take a long while! Until then I am in pain and need help getting dressed which really ticks me off. Cause "I don't want to back down!" And now I have to admit again I am no longer supermom and wife! Crap! -
Somebody else a Tom Petty fan?!?!?!
Things are well here. Wife is past the one-third mark for rads. Mostly just some tiredness so far.
And on a side note, dang it's getting cold! -
Greg: I like that, I won't back down, untill I find out what this lump is I won't back down!
I have an appt. on wed with surgeon. Here is the confusing part- had more views done on thurs. Tech said she didn't see anything that needs surgery?(Thats a good thing at least it isn't glowing in the dark right??) But doctor wants surgeon to take a look have an appt. on the 22nd , I guess it is better to be on the safe side soo.. still doing the waiting game. How are things your way????
Cowgirl: Someone stole your phone booth again!!!
Let them do what they gotta do, I know how much you like going to the doctor * Not! * We are here for you!!
Shemp : Glad that your wife is doing good so far, and hope things continue in that direction, heading into the home stretch!! Same here about the cold 60 yesterday 20 today brrrr!!!
Denise did her last rad today , she is done with treatments
except for the 5yrs of Arimidex Whooo-hooo! -
Hi Gang: Glad you enjoyed the Tom Petty. I kinda discovered him "late in life." But, like one of my mottos: "better late than never!" Now, I'm grooving to some Neil Young (talk about a guy who never gives up/grows old! He's still rocking just as hard 30 years after CSN&Y!)
Cowgirl: Sorry to hear about your arm. Hey, try doing what my wife does: call the ortho's office and ask them to contact you if there are any cancellations. That way you might get into to see him earlier.
Shemp: Congrats on hitting the 1/3 mark (and only a little tiredness to show for it!) Maybe you and I should try to get together next time Mr. TP is in town, seeing as we're not that far away.
Carrie: Glad to hear about what the tech said, and hopefully the surgeon (who's more experienced) will agree with that assessment. Keep us posted! We're doing okay on this end. The DW is dealing with minor effects of lymphadema and is being treated at the lymphadema clinic affiliated with the cancer center where she had her treatments. They also gave her this supportive material she wears (looks sorta like a sports bra), which has helped the swelling a lot.
Great news about Denise! What are you guys gonna do to celebrate?
Best to all,
Greg -
WELCOME VIEWERS/LURKERS/NEWBIES!!!
This post is for all you newcombers, lurkers and never-before-posters. I know there are, uh, several of us post-hogs (sorry, but I couldnt think of a nicer term) who tend to kinda hog this group (and I love each and every one of you) BUT here is an open invitation for some of our other friends to post their thoughts, ideas, concerns, fears, successes, etc. on this thread.
Take it from Cowgirl and Carrie; we're really a pretty friendly group (and if you're afraid of animals, Cowgirl will put 'em in the pen upon request). So, c'mon out, jump into the pool 'n join the party. The water's fine...We're all in this together and it helps to share the burden with some other folks who understand...
Greg -
Ok, I admit I am a Lurker!! But I have enjoyed reading everyone's posts. Let me introduce myself... My name is Kathy and I live in Utah. I was dx on a routine mamogram in May, had surgery, chemo and radiation am now taking Tamoxifen, Just had my 3 month post chemo check up and all is well so far. I was stage 2 had 3+ lymph nodes. My hubby has been great but we have both been very scared thru all of this, but we have postive attitudes.Oh by the way I am 53 and work as an interpreter(sign Language) in a middle school. I am trying to get back to a normal life!
Thanks for you all and your great posts, nice to meet everyone! -
Hi Kathy,
And welcome ! I am (oink, oink) Carrie and so glad to meet you!! Congrats on being done with treatment,
and whooo-hoo on your 3 month check up!!! Please stop by anytime!!
Hugs to you and hubby~ -
Hi Kathy, my wife and I just vacationed in Utah this past summer (and had a couple stops before). We've biked in Moab, hiked in Zion/Bryce/Bridges, stood on the salt flats, waded into the Salt Lake, photographed Arches, toured the temple visited the dinosaurs and camped at Flaming Gorge. What an awesome state!
Cheers to finding some normalcy! -
Hi Kathy, and welcome to the thread (and your hub is welcome here, too, if he's so inclined.) Speaking of which, you may want to get your hub a copy of the "Breast Cancer Husband" book by Marc Silver, and invaluable little handbook for husbands/SO's. Good luck and don't be a stranger.
C'mon, I bet there are more people out there for us to meet. Stop by and say hi...
Happy Monday everybody (grrr...)
Greg -
Gang: Has anybody heard from JRC recently?
-
Welcome Kathy!
As Shemp said I can halter an animal and put him on the fence while we talk here!
I am going to orthoped on Thursday(same day as mom has revisions to Mast!). But she wants me to go. My 15 yr old is convinced I have messed up my rotator cuff, I keep wanting to think he is 15 and doesn't know. But honestly he makes a good arguement for it! But Thursday I should have a better clue.
So for now I am resting it as much as possible, taking a pain pill at night. The night time is the killer time. I was feeling okay until the bad storm came and I got stuck in a pen with Casper who kept yanking my bad arm sleeve. The boys were wrestling two other people's goats to cover them up. I never knew a 60 lb goat could jump up 4 ft! As my son would say, "She's a jumper I need Help!" Anyway our goats survived the storm all snug.
This week we are studying Presidents! S is so happy!
Kathy my bro lived in Utah, loved the skiing there! I hear it is breathtaking views!
How is everybody doing??? -
Greg : John was also on my mind. I pm'd him earlier this morning haven't heard anything though. I'm glad DW swelling is comming down, I don't know a lot about LE but what I do know , sounds like a huge hassle and something that is chronic.
Cowgirl: You know I will be thinking of you ,and praying you can get some relief from your pain soon. I think it is so funny when I read about the goats giving the boys such a time because they go out in the fields with big ole cows and steers , I guess goats are small but mighty !!
Kathy: I have never been to Utah , from everyones description it sounds beautiful!
Shemp: Your description of your vacations makes me feel envious! We haven't been on a get away for a long time ! -
I haven't heard from jrc, I wish we would though.
You know Carrie how in the world are those kids going to show a goat that is jumping up 4 ft around another human? I told the mom she had better start chaining them to the fence, the show is in 38 days. TD said the lamb was even worse!
I feel sorry for those kids, they have no idea how those goats will look in the ring!
Yes ours will chew us up, but it is affection chews even when Casper nipped my rear end! -
Hi Everyone,
Thanks for the warm welcome! I live in St. George Utah so we are close to Zions park.
Wow Shemp sounds like you have toured Utah, thats great! It is a beautiful state!
Cowgirl where in Utah did your brother live?
CSP: You should come sometime it is beautiful!!!
BC: thanks for the info on the book I just ordered one for my hubby.
Hope everyone had a great day today! Talk to you all soon!
Love ya
Kathy -
Hi guys and gals, have seen your thread before but I'm not a bf or partner so didn't post. I am nearly 18 months out from my op now - suffering with lymphedema too but it is only mild and yes the bandaging sucks. I live in Greece and have a menagerie of cats which you will know if you've seen the fur children photos. Thanks for letting me join in your little club.
Hugs,
Mags -
Mags this group welcomes even my goats!!! And they rarely behave!!! Come along and join the fun! Don't you love what Shemp does with his wife's hair? I love it here because it on my worse day it is hard not to laugh with this bunch! LE ain't fun and Greg is learning all about the risks of it first hand!
Kathy I don't know where he lived, that sounds so bad. My brother is a Civil Servant for the Army so whereever there is a place where a bunch of Army supplies are is usually where he lived. Now he lives in Germany! You will be glad to know that our boys are protected from the Bird Flu, he saw some Tamiflu come in. He does something really secretative, so of course I know next to nothing. Basically all I know is he routes supplies to our troops in Iraq, he has done it for a long time before the war started but he got moved to Germany a while ago. So while he was here I would see tanks go by and think maybe he sent them! Like I said no real idea what he does! Only after I took the tamiflu he said he saw some!
Kathy I am so glad you are getting back to your normal Life!!! Good for you!!!! -
Hi Mags: Welcome to you and your felines to the thread! We should really take an animal inventory...Let's see, there's our four guinea pigs, one parakeet, Cowgirl's farm of I-don't-know how many goats, and Lord knows what else (Lol), uh, Carrie I think you have some critters, no? Anybody else?
Can you imagine if we all got together? What a petting zoo we'd have for the kiddies!
Actually, speaking of pets, they *do* seem to have some health-related benefits. My wife discovered holding/cuddling our guinea pigs to be very therapeutic!
Best,
Greg -
Awww They really are like lap dogs Greg! I used to snuggle with ours when I was recouping!
-
Well here is my update my shoulder is a rotator cuff situation. I did get a cortizone shot for it today. I will probably have to get an MRI if it is not better in two weeks. So that is at least known. Thanks you guys and gals for listening!
-
Glad it's your rotator cuff (only here could I say that and not seem mean...) Hope time and a little rest takes care of it. If your doctor gave you restrictions, try to follow at least half of them!
-
Oh but Karilynn you know me Too Well! Carrie told me to get a Sling, my words to her "I ain't wearing no stinkin sling Carrie".
He gave me no restrictions, he thinks it is torn and I will crawl back to him.
He did have the nerve to tell me he rarely sees women my age with this problem it is usually men older than me that overwork themselves. The resident tried to save him by telling him about the BC and the goats. I liked her a lot! -
Hi everyone,
I wanted to give you an update of what I know so far,
I saw the surgeon on wed. he is going to do and excisional
biopsy ( I don't have a date of surgery yet, office is suppose to call) He said the thinks this is b9,He said but that because of my family history we can not leave it up to chance, so lets get it out and get a path on it.
I felt much better after leaving his office!
Mags,
Welcome so glad to see you here! I have a friend that traveled to Greece last year, she said it is a beautiful country and the food is so good. She bought me a wonderful
ceramic chicken from there. I can't remember what city she was in? I have a cat too, my first, she was a stray that I adopted. -
Okay Greg Pet roll call~
My DH says everytime one of the kids moved out I replaced them with a furry Kid! (Empty nest syndrome ? nah not me!) -
Zeke
-
Cowgirl: Sounds like you were right on the money with anticipating it would be a rotator cuff problem. Are you in the habit of chucking bales o' hay, by any chance (I'm thinking the motion may be similar to baseball pitchers, we often develop rotator cuff probs.) I hoped you kicked that doc in his a** (with your pointy cowgirl boots) on the way outta his office!)
Carrie: Thanks for the update. Keep us posted about the biopsy.
And you guys are just killin' me with all those cute pet pics!! I've been thinking about "trading up" our guinea pigs for a dog (DW says it's too much trouble--but then again, she doesn't feed the "hogs" (as I call 'em) nor clean their cage...) and seeing pics of some of the most beautiful animals makes me long for one 'o my own (Dang, if that cat doesn't look almost human!)
Sigh,
Greg -
Well Greg I know the story on the that poor little Cat, He has no idea he is a cat. Carrie calls him the funny puppy! That is why the other dogs do not eat him! My yellow lab would eat him in one gulp but then again my dog knows the funny puppy is a Cat!
Okay here are my menagerie for now, I have got to photograph my cows dang it!
Here is what I wanted to say to that DR!
BTW guinea pigs really are pigs at some point. But I will tell you my Hubby loves springtime because apparently clover is a very addictive substance for them. He feeds her clover so now she screams when he comes home because she knows he gives her clover. TD(oldest) said we would have to wait until she comes down off her high to get her into rehab! She seems to crash if she doesn't have any! Why he starts this every spring I have no idea! In TX there is no way clover is going to grow in July, so she will be screaming for months! -
Hi guys and gals. Here's a picture of me and some of the cats. Hope it's the right size
-
I just can't get the hang of the sizing thing. Too big or too small. This is Popeye, she had sunburnt nose.
