-
Everything is fine in Chelmsford, MA. DId have some downed trees in town but not near me. I'll get to see the damage on my way into work tomorrow.
I am so glad you are happy Sheila, you deserve it.

Diane how is the shower planning and the house thing going on....
Am fine in the house have to go out Tuesday Wednesday and Thursday nothing for tomorrow and Friday is Andrew and mom mom day and the plan is to to go the beach, all of a sudden he hates the beach!!
-
Hey Blondie - shower planning is, shall we say, a pain in the ass? I really wanted to do this and enjoy it but there is something about my DIL that sucks the joy out of life. The other day we told them that we wanted to do the baby's room as the gift. DS was very happy and DIL said "oh sure, sounds great". I said let's pick a day when DS is traveling and go have fun doing it. Oh yes, she says in front of DS. Yesterday, the scheduled day, she says "why do we have to go shopping together, I can just put what I want on a list with links". I said "it's really no trouble, i would really enjoy it and it is nice to touch fabrics for the crib, etc." She said "if you want to be helpful you can choose a plant for the baby's room". What a lovely consolotaion prize. DS asks me last night if I took DIL shopping, I said "no, it didn't work out for her". I make no comment to him, no judgement bcause I think it makes his life harder. Some people just don't like to be happy. Oh, and they lack manners too.
So glad Irene left you all in pretty good shape. About to call my FIL in Maine and see how he fared.
Oh, and I also love the sound of rain on a metal roof....

What's with this survey that keeps popping up, it's annoying!!! Are you guys experiencing this?
-
No survey for me so far - but probably now I will get it. No power loss for you Deb?
-
No survey hope you don't have a virus....
Diane I am sorry, becareful, don't make him pick cause you might lose. Does she have a mother? Unfortunatelly she probably doesn't want your help and it was rude what she said....hopefully it won't be the shower from hell..
-
Hi Friends....
Yes survey is popping up.
Diane...I'm guessing hormones are changing again. Well if its the plant she wants that's what she gets. Make sure about the gender color.

Today its a beautiful day was in the pool for hours. Showered and waiting for DD drive me to Waikiki area market
-
Sheila - can I come hang with you until after the shower?
-
We really didn't loose power for an length of time, just a few seconds. After the storm it got pretty windy and a branch from the neighbors yard fell on a wire which made a horrible loud zap noise and lit the whole area up. The branch was burning so I called the police (non emergency number) and told them what happened. Within minutes that arrived. After the branch burned through it fell to the ground and everything was fine. The noise scared the hell out of me. Some trees downed on the way to work but other than that no biggy.
-
Yes Diane

I'm going out now see you soon.
-
Blondie - I know really well not to put myself in position to lose my DS. What a lot of work though
She has a mother of sorts - each of her parents have been married three times so she has no clue about family. Her mother dropped her on her father to live who then returned her and on it goes. I pay the price as does my son. May my little granddaughter not pay as well. My red and orange BABY shower is mostly planned and is just as unconventional as she requested. DS has been traveling a lot and is in Vegas for trade show the next ten days. She is going to join him tomorrow. I am driving her to the airport and taking care of their dog (awesome dog). She doesnt allow her dog in my car because it is a convertible so I told her she will need to drive over here first - she said "oh, you can't just pick me up on the way?". I said that I wished I could but since the DOG is not allowed in my car, it wouldn't work. Hmm...was that passive aggressive? Maybe

-
Diane, sometimes you've just gotta do it.
-
Hey- she made the rules about the car... sorry it is so trying, Diane. Red and orange - oh boy, uh, I mean, oh dear... Wow - that's tough trying to stay gender neutral.
-
We still have power, but school was canceled for another day. My parents don't have power. My in-laws do - which is good because they didn't plan ahead. My father didn't plan much either, but he can drive down the street to the store which does have power, so aside from my mother going crazy without tv to watch, they are ok. DH's sister and brother are without power still - to my knowledge. Forgot to ask DH if he heard how the other brother fared.
Hope Linda is okay! Have we heard from Ducki? Anyone else my defective brain is missing?

Ducky posted on another thread, Calling All State 1 Sisters. She if fine and both houses came through without damage.
Edited to add name of thread,
-
Good to hear - thanks for the update!
-
Now why did I think Ducky's name was spelled with an "i?" Duh. Too lazy to look it up.
Liiiinnnndaaaa - where arrrre yoooou? Hope you're okay - and if you've lost power, I hope it comes back soon!
Was cold this morning. Then it dawned on me - maybe it's still cool enough outside that I can go for a run. So I did my 2.5 miles I can barely do
and then walked another half a loop. What a BEAUTIFUL day! Clear blue sky- not a cloud in it. Gorgeous. Then I decided I have to make use of such a beautiful day to make use of myself and clean up our yard - lots of leaves on the too tall grass. But first - an errand to try to find DS a new backpack. Can't do anything ahead of time around here. ((((((((TOL)))))))))

I heard Sandy call me on page 554, so I thought I would let you know I was still kicking. I am getting so frustrated with so little "me time" and my inability to catch up on the threads. So now I will read pages 554-557 so I can get up to date. I only have 19 minutes left of my lunch hour, hope I can do it!
-
Diane, I think there must be some beautiful plant with awesome pink blossoms which would be perfect for a nursery, don't you?
-
I do indeed - good idea Meece

-
I agree Meece and glad you are kickin.....and red and orange OMG never heard of a baby shower in those colors but as you said she picked it, be careful what you wish for.....so she wants and needs your whenever it is convenient for her, guess she has lots of issues in the family and trust department.
My sons loyalty is always with his wife and as his mother I don't get much of anything. Unfortnatelly for him his choices aren't always the wisest ones and these days I chose not to play games so he has made his choice and I am here and talk to him whenever necessary. You should have gave me a birthday card, not tell me sorry that I didn't it is on my diningroom table and I didn't fill it out, so now 20 days later still don't have it and those lines are drawn again. What are you teaching your children on how to treat their grandmother, the only grandparent they have, dil doesn't care, her grandmother's birthday was 2 days before mine and she got a card.....sorry rambling.....just be careful...
Unfortnatelly the lines were drawn and now the twins aren't talking to him or the family either and his loyalty is with his family and not with his brothers and they are really hurt by that.
-
Sandy...I just took a picture of your sand just in case.....you can look and laugh to it.
Linda will be away until the 10th I believe.
Diane...You are a good MIL
chris...no power yet????
((((TOL))))
-
Diane: your DIL does not realize how good she has it, maybe it will sink in her head.
Happy for you Sheila glad U R having an awesome time.
(((TOL)))
-
Oh - we have power - never lost it - just didn't have school for 2 days because so many other people lost power.
Thought Linda came home for the hurricane... whereever she is - I hope things are okay!
Sorry about all the family problems

Mowed the front yard and picked up fallen branches - feel like I had a productive day.
((((((TOL)))))))
-
Diane, it would be tempting for me to say that when dil is ready to go shopping WITH you, then you will be furnishing the nursery. That is a substansial financial gift, and you should get some joy out of the shopping process. My dil's father and stepmother bought the baby a crib. The step mom reminded us of that several times. I helped paint the nursery, add decals to the walls and made the quilt, crib skirt, and window treatment. I am happy with how it worked out.
-
I suspect you have a more cooperative DIL
After BC, I think I am much more likely to say "FINE, WHATEVER" in a very nice voice. If she wants to believe that sage, yellow, beige, teal, tan and celery are a good combo, I will leave that one be but I told her that the fact that we are doing the nursery needs to remain private info. She probably thinks I am being discreet but really I am making sure nobody thinks I have such bad taste
Naughty, naughty I know.Hope Linda isn't stranded in NH because of downed trees. My FIL in Maine still has no power.
-
Hi Guys, I am back! No power or water for 3.5 days SUCKS!!! I lost everything in all 3 of my refriderators and freezers! What an expense. DH was hooking a up generator this morning while I was dumping food from the fridge and all of a sudden the fridge light came on. I was surpirsed and thought "how did he hook the fridge up already?'. Thank God it's back. No toliet, no stove no water.....yuck!
Will catch up later, got lots of cleaning to do!
