lola I have 1 daughter and 2 black cats.  The cats are like your daughters,  Girl cat plastered herself to my "bad side" before and after surgery and performed Reiki.  Boy cat peed a "parameter" around the couch that no one was to cross.  If they did he came galloping out of wherever he was and sunk his fangs into the person's arm.  With my daughter it was just a warning "don't touch her" bite, no blood.  I raised him on a kitten formula with a bottle because he was abandoned in the woods.  He thinks I'm his Mom.  I'm not, but I like him

PS, my daughter holds my arm when I walk downstairs, "careful Mom, I don't want you to fall"

For the Love of God I'm middle aged, not 120.

LolaM-Hi, I go for my CT tomorrow, I will be doing 25 ads in prone position. Can you share your experience with me? What type of cream did they reccomend? How long from the CT until the actual treatment? Oh where are your tattoos an did they hurt? Thanks Patty

Stormy - HER (Human Epidermal Receptor) is a cancer tumor marker, as are ER and PR.  These three predict which medicines are needed to treat your cancer.  A + associated with any of these markers indicates that the tumor grows in response to these factors.  Your MO will use drugs to suppress the production or block the effects of these factors.

Patty - My RO didn't give me a special cream.  He just told me to use a good moisturizing lotion.

Patty, didn't RO give you a folder with info on creams and lotions? The nurse told me to use Miaderm ( you have to order at 877-642-7727) or Aquaphor  you can get at Whole Foods and to use Toms deoderant. Hope this helps.

Add me to your group. I was dx in early March. Had my last chemo tx July 6 and my UMX on August 4. I go to the RO on Sept 8 for a consult then I assume I start the following week. I just want everything done before Halloween as it is my favorite Holiday!

So, this is a dumb question? Does the tattoo markers hurt? I got a tat when I was a wild child at the age of 14 and do not remember any pain?

I didn't think the tattoo makers hurt.  It just pinched a little.  I didn't get anything from the RO about what creams i could use.  She did tell me about the Toms deodorant.  She told me because of my skin I would probably burn.  If I start she will recommend creams to use.  I am on vacation this week and I go Sept 1st for my dry run and then I satrt next Tues.  I wish I could have started this week.  I just want to get this done and over with.

Tiger_Blood - For me, the tattoos were small stings, like a bug bite.

neecee - Thank you, I did find some info on HER2 finally. I go for my CT scan tomorrow and I will ask RO about it. I know the MO will be the one deciding about additional drugs, but I know the RO has the results as well. I just want to know what else to prepare for.

ashleere -  Thanks for the phone number too on the creames and Toms deoderant. My RO said no deoderant, I don't think I can do that. I am OCD about cleaning things and myself so that is just not going to fly. lol

I'm having CT done tomorrow and I thought the trial run and tattoos were tomorrow, but reading other posts, now I'm not sure. I will post tomorrow night and let you all know how it goes for those who haven't had it done yet.

Patty - I was there for a couple hours.  I met again with my RAD Onc. and I had my stim as well.

I was in the room with the girls getting ready to make my mold and get me set up and the first thing I did was cry Cry   They were so sweet to me, I just said I'm very emotional and seeing this and being here is just overwhelming to me.  Moving on, I had my mold made and 3 tattoos and they took the pics that they take.  It took a little while and my arms were getting pins and needles in them but then it was over.  I will have my first treatment on 9/19, the Dr. wanted to wait a little bit for me to recover from the chemo, and I have to have another mamo on the right side before rad starts to make sure nothing in there.  Back in Feb/March I met with him because my first tumor was DCIS, he sent me for mamo before I was going to begin rads, and that showed more calcifications which lead to another lumpectomy and lo and behold invasive... and the rest is history.  So I have the mamo for Thurs. 9/1 and just praying all CLEAR...  Thats where I am at for today.  What is prone position?

Hugs to all you gals....  keep on fighting..

Count me in to the September rads group.  I finished chemo Aug 5; met my RO on the 22nd (who promptly told me she was going on maternity leave the next day!), and had my CT scan and tattooes on the 23.  Now I'm just waiting to find out what my schedule will be over the next six weeks. I am anxious to get started so I can hopefully close this chapter and move on.

Leighsa - thank you, good luck to you getting started.  I hope your power gets on quickly, we lost it for 14 hours, but have been back on since yesterday around 3.  Some of our town still has outages.

    Good luck

Stormy, the nurse at RO said TOms was the only deoderant I could use during tx.  I am OCD about clenliness as well.  I had 3 tattoos, not so bad. The reality of it all came over me as they were making my mold. I cried.:(

I am still waiting to find out is I am HER 2 +/- they called tonight and said I should know by the end of the week. And also what the latest mammo said. I guess I'll call the RO tomorrow and find out. i start tx on 9/7.

Ginger- praying the mammo is clear.

Lets just get this party started so we can be done with it.

I had my 4th radiation treatment today. I am only having 20 treatments altogether. I found out something today that I did not know. The average person is getting 1.8 readiation and I am getting 2.6. My doctor said by having it a little bit more intense for less days I will have a better chance of not having side effects. Is anyone else doing this?

Looks like there are a few of us celebrating Labor Day by starting rads on the 6th. Had to go to the "city" 100 miles away for the scan and tattoos, photos, etc., and then my RO works thru that office only an hour away from me - I see him this Friday for "verification" , which I think means he puts me into the position the photos and tattoos indicate, to see it works on his machine here. Then the daily marathon starts on the 6th. I envy you with a short drive to rads. I'm a bit worried about working - teaching high school - then driving the half hour south to rads, then the hour back north home, and the fatigue build up so many of us seem to start feeling - 33 times! But we will prevail, eh, ladies? Bring on the rads, and let's get this thing over with, already.

Ginger-wow, you were there for a while. They didn't make a mold for me. Maybe because i'm in the prone position?

Patty - the tattoos felt like a tiny pin stick but it was so quick that by time you felt it, it was done, one I didn't feel at all.  No biggie.  The mold is to make sure I am in the same position with arms up for each radiation.

I went and got the mold and tattoos today.  No big deal at all.  I start in 1 1/2, and I am doing 28 treatments instead of 35!  I am so ready to get this done and behind me.  Im sure it will go by fast though and soon be all behind me.  No boosts for me either.

Ok girls, I had my Ct and markings done today. They used marker and clear tape not tattoos. At first I was very happy about that. After when I was dressing to go home, I looked in the mirror and cried. I have a big X between my breasts and 5 other marks all covered with clear tape, NOT attractive! They said they would do tattoos if I had a problem with the tape sticking. So far its sticking, but it ITCHES!!! I start rads on 9/7 for 25 treatments and 5 boosts, so 30 I guess. Also found out that there is another pit stick you can use called Jasons, available at Walgreens. I will go shopping this weekend for pit stick, Ivory shower gel and an electric razor. Back to the markings, I don't know if I can let my husband see me like this. Anyone else feel that way or am I being too sensitive? Oh, and I'm HER2 negative, thank God, one less med. I will have to endure. I'm thinking about taking Lupron to shut down my ovaries since I have a chronic problem with cysts and Tamox. tends to cause ovarian cysts. Anyone else take that cocktail? Lupron and Tamox?

Ashleere, Is this mold you are talking about like a whole body mold of you on the table? It is interesting to see the different types of set up going on here. I didn't have any molds todays and nothing was mentiond. I've also heard of some having treatment in prone. I will be supine (on my back). I guess this all just depends on the type of equipment the facility has. Makes me wounder if one type of machine is better than another? I'd hate to find out after its all done that it does make a difference, ya know?

Ladies...my RO laughed and said that every RO you talk with will think his/her equipment and method is the best.   We all have to remember we have different bodies and our BC is different too so we'll see others having different treatments.   It is sometimes hard to get past, I know!  Haha, we are probably like the ROs and feel like our RO and treatment plan is the best.   ;)

Tomorrow is my half-way done day!   Yay!   I've had 17 treatments and so far I am only a little bit pink.   Right now I'm using mostly aloe gel and at night I'm adding aquafor.   I may check out that udderly smooth people are talking about.   As for fatigue, I think I am starting to get a bit of that.  Sounds funny, but I am not sure....but my head is beginning to feel like I have been awake for far too long and I am tired.   Not enough to keep me from doing most things but I am beginning to notice it.

Stormy - At my planning/simulation session I left with all those Xs and marks you are talking about.   After a few sessions, they removed them all but one and then did 3 tattoos.   Seriously, they are so tiny.

Warm thoughts for all of you just beginning.   The waiting and wondering is really  the most difficult part and once you get going you'll settle into that routine.   It's a royal pain having to go in every day...but definitely doable.

Hi Ladies, I'm joining you in Sept.

Final round of chemo tomorrow and Rad sim on Friday. Oh boy!

Thank you for share of your experience so far. It's so helpful to have even slightest idea what to expect from patient view.

    Hugs,

    Kat
