Bone marrow lesion on humerus

I am 9 months down the road from mastectomy and TRAM flap reconstruction of L breast. Two months after surgery I developed a very painful frozen left shoulder. Within two weeks my left breast developed severe lymphoedema which has spread to my left arm and trunk. That's all OK, I'm living just fine with continuous massage, taping and compression. Last week I had an MRI of my left shoulder just to confirm that it was frozen shoulder and not ?bone cancer. The shoulder came back clear but the MRI picked up a 1cm lesion bone marrow lesion on the humerus. I got a terrible fright and tried manically to find information about this. When I spoke to my breast nurse specialist she wasn't at all concerned but thought a bone scan would be a good idea. The bone scan didn't show any further bone areas of concern. My GP and breast nurse are happy to 'let it go'. My main worry is the fact that I have just gotten over 4 weeks of flu, followed by secondary chest infection, which has left me with a continuous dry cough. I have been all over the place with how to manage this and have come to the conclusion of going to an oncologist for an overall view of everything. (I had 4 sentinel nodes removed with only one showing isolated tumour cells,  so no further nodes removed). Should I be worried? Has anyone else got something to share about this? Thank you.

    Lindylounz, I don't have any info for you on this but I think it would be a good idea to speak to your onc about the MRI results.

    I have bone marrow mets all through my body. It is very strong in my femurs Illia  acetabulum which is thigh hip and ball and socket, and now also strong in both Humerii - the bones that go from the elbow to the shoulder including the ball. What you have is tiny if it is the only bone marrow met in your body. and should not give you too much trouble - many with bone mets have a little on their bone marrow here and there. it is unusual to have it as I have. Mine has just pregressed to my bones and a few places after three years - so don't be too frightened.  Go and see your oncologist and ask him to do some tests to make sure that is all you have.

    Hi Lindy

    I had/have a lesion that lit up on a PET scan but they deceided that it was a bone island/ bone infarct, just a sort of malfunction in the bone/matrix. Talk to your onc and ask questions, maybe get a PET scan.

    Mine showed up most recently on a CT/PET scan. Initially it was on an MRI. Nothing on my bone scan two years ago. Ask your oncologist what they would do to clarify things for you. Let them know you are concerned. You deserve peace in your mind. We kinda have to be our own advocates to find out enough so we feel we have the whole picture. Do not let a nurse and a GP give you the information that an oncologist whom has trained and worked to get his knowledge is qualified to give.  Smiles  LindaBB

    Hi Calico and Linda, sorry have been away, just had tidy up of abdo scar and removal of 500ml of fluid from reconstructed breast. Already feel smaller Smile. Have the name now of a good oncologist to get a good overall opinion and answer relevant questions. Will post when I've seen him.
