YSC ladies moving over from FB?

Aww, Cori, that must have been tough! Hell, *I* miss Elle, and she's not even my daughter! You know how we all love that girl. :-) I think you need to come into the city and get some homegrown tomatoes to make you feel better.....
Beth, yay, good to see you here too!
And Marybe, yep, just what Cori said, about where we came from and why we've been looking for a new home. As for trolls, yep, they're ALWAYS going to be around, everywhere, even on a breast cancer board, which would seem to be an unlikely place. Shrug. Go figure, right?

Awww cori, dropping her off must have been so hard!
Everyone is welcome here! Even if there are trolls or arguments it doesn't matter because we're here and we will deal with it! -
Good morning! Yep - didn't realize how much I missed this. I honestly don't understand why some are reluctant to give this a try. We met on a public message board, the private board didn't draw much traffic and there could be trolls anywhere we choose to go. I, for one, just want to be reconnected. I've never needed it more. I love my YSC gals and I am loving meeting some new people right here.
Marybe: Glad you checked in on us. I met Marybe in the Stage IV forums - she is such a great lady and is a fellow Xeloda Diva of mine!
Cori: I can't even imagine - we will be in the same boat in two years. I can't believe Chase is a junior this year. Yikes - where has the time gone?
Melindy: I agree - we can deal with whatever gets thrown our way!
The rest of ya that have popped in -- YAY!! I know we've been keeping up on FB, but I feel like I'm at home already. Love you all!!
-
Hey Ladies - I was KAud on YSC but set up a new account here as Macilly.
I got your message Sally and thought I would wander over. I remember this site from when I was first dx and there was a lady named Sherry who was stage 3 and was very nice. Going to wander around and take a look
-
KAud in the house!! I like the new screenname...a lovely hybrid of your gorgeous girls. How you doing? Girls back at school I see. They are getting so big and are just cute as can be! Any threats to you all from Irene? Love you girl!
-
Hey Sally - oh yes, we are southern Maryland so Irene should be moving here this evening. We just had the earthquake and now this. All we need is a Zombie Apocolypse and we'll have the tri-fecta!
Girls are good and so glad they are back at school. Love them but the summer was too long this year....lol.
How bout u? How is the family? U feeling ok?
-
Hey "Macilly" great to see you!!!
Sally, hope you are doing well. Any chance you will make it to Philly for LBBC?
Cori, that must have been tough dropping of Elle. Who is going to make mint juleps now?
I am liking it here so far. Is anyone going to post something on YSC? Just curious.
-
The size of this board is a little intimidating. Will be interested to see how many follow Cori's "revolution."
SunnyT -
Karen - I'm doing okay. I agree - a very long summer! I was relieved when the boys went back as well. No more daily requests for a houseful of boys overnight - now just the weekends! I can deal with that two days a week. Last night - a resounding NO.
No kids overnight! Mom is wiped out! I'm feeling pretty good - no real side effects from the Vitamin X other then fatigue. And when I say fatigue - I mean FATIGUE!! I slept 11 hours last night - crap. I was so stiff and sore when I woke up I felt like I belonged in Shady Oaks - felt about 90. Oh well - it seems to be working, so I'll deal with it. Hoping to be onto Femara in a month. ** Stay safe, I've been tuned to FNC all morning. Glad to see the storm has been downgraded to Cat 1, but it looks huge. Love to all my East coast friends!
Kim - No chance on Philly this year. I wish I could, but just not doable for now. I suck at travelling (seriously a fraidy cat on flying), and I get all stressed out. Stress is not what I need right now - cancelled a trip to Nashville for work that I was really excited about for same reason. I am, however, going to suck it up and fly somewhere in the spring...Mexico for spring break..hoping I feel good by then!
SunnyT - Don't let the size intimidate you - you can just come here if you want - this forum is home base. I really only participate here and in Stage IV and I just mark my "topics" and follow those. Every once in awhile I surf, but for the most part - I get what I need from my favorite topics tab. I love that feature!
-
Oh, and Karen - stay safe! This storm looks crazy - I've been tuned to Fox News all morning watching. Glad to see it's downgraded to a Cat 1, but it looks huge.
-
Where's the bar? There has to be an open bar around here. I wonder if the Holler can find a home here. I could use some chemical assistance. (5:00 somewhere, right?)
-
Hi everyone!
-
Cass- Someone needs to notify DorcasAnna and I'm sure the Holler will follow! She's got to be slinging the drinks!
Hi A (youyourbestthing)! Cute doggie!
-
Love the new pic, MustangIA! Gorgeous as always.
-
I'm having a hard time following who new screen names and or pictures are lol. But I will get it I'm sure.
Sally- that sucks about the stress of travel but you're right there is no reason to get stressed if you don't need to. although I of course would have oved to see you!
I'm on vicodin this weekend so I'm trying to follow everything that's happening but I'm a bit slower than usual lol.
-
Melindy - was the appointment awful? Are you in lots of pain -- hoping Vicadin is helping you and you have a good weekend. Are you working this weekend? I am "working" from home today until 5. Ha ha. Not doing a ton of working, but hey. It was my turn on the rotation to assign the work today and I'm doing it from here. Pretty slow accident day, so I've had lots of time to hang out on the puter.
I just have to say, just seeing some of you over here has already made me more active on these boards in other areas. I don't know why, just seeing you here with me has already made me more comfortable to support others here. What a relief. I needed this. I know some are still looking at other options..yuku, no surrender etc. But I like the info that is available here. Between this and the SSFMB, I will probably just hang here. Haven't pulled out of the FB group yet, but this is so much easier for me to follow and I know my posts are available for me to get back to easily.
-
Sally the appointment went surprisingly well thanks to some awesome laughing gas and a great nurse. But I'm in a lot of pain every time I try to eat and sleeping was pretty impossible too. My mouth is super swollen but really it's not as bad as I thought it would be. Now I just want to heal quickly and want it to be fine asap! I will have to get the implant but that can wait for 6 months or so. I'm not working, just confined since I can't drive!
I didn't know you had been here otherwise I would have been here earlier lol. I'm glad that us here makes you feel comfortable! Just seeing people's names again has made me feel better. I used this site for a lot of DIEP info. It is huge but I really think that we can make a home for us here and spread out if anyone wants to. I would just like to know that if I post something I could get some actual responses and insight and come back to those to re-read the info. I know there are a lot of options, and I really love love love yuku but without people it doesn't work.
I want this to work. I really do. I love seeing Cori's passion about it because I feel the same way. -
Hi girls...Axel and I are checking in.
-
Just FYI, I am refraining from using first names (unless someone is already using their name, like I am,) because I know some people are more cautious about privacy. For example, I used MustangIA instead of Sally, and until Ratbait uses her name I won't. Not even her aliases.
Just because I refer to you by your screen name, that doesn't mean I don't know your first name. It's a privacy thing.
Melinda, laughing gas rocks! I hope you feel better soon.
-
Ok, I'm lazy. How do I add a signature?
-
Welcome, Cheylana! Go to your MY HOME page and edit your profile -- there is a sig line at the bottom - capped at 250 characters. You can also fill in your diagnosis info and that will show below your signature.
-
Good point Cassie. I will take that into consideration about who has their names out here. And thanks I'm hoping that pain goes away soon.
Cheylana- go up to the top where you see your name, click on it and go to edit your profile and the signature is there. -
Good rule of thumb, Cass. I will follow suit. Funny - when I first read your post I was like, crap, I called her Cassie and went to edit my post - then I reread it and I get where you are coming from. I have no problem being called Sally, It fits too well with Mustang... - just no last names please!!
-
You mean Mustang isn't your last name?
-
@marybe Young Survival Coalition website is www.youngsurvival.org . The organization advocates for research and treatment for breast cancer patients under 45, holds an annual conference, now called C4YW, and has chapters around the country that have events. It's biggest fundraiser is the "Tour de Pink" bike race.
It also offers support groups geared towards the age group. It partners with LBBC for the annual conference.
-
Yep, YSC has affiliates around the country and they have support groups and individual events in those areas.
The C4YW conference is where a lot of us have actually met face to face. Their boards are where we all met online for the first time. For me, I've been a part of it since 2008 and now we need a new home base -
Thanks for your help Melinda! Got my siggy in place, but can't get the avatar working yet. Gah!
-
Oh MustangIA, I see you also sent me the info. Thanks to you too!
-
I'm here too now.
-
Hmmm, cheylana, my avatar was super easy, although it took me forever to find where to change it even though it's right there near the signature lol.
Yay, hi Wilmar!!
