Merilee - Good for you for you on nearing the end and taking time for yourself. I am 100% convinced that God let this happen to me so I can be a light to others on their journey. Now I just to figure out what he wants me to do.

For now it's #21. 7 more then boosts!

Merilee I think it is awesome you are taking this break.  Time to relax and enjoy life at a quieter pace.

Sarah...wow...I hope you are safe, I know NC is really supposed to take a wicked hit from Irene.  I will be thinking of you during the duration.  Post and let us know you are okay please.

lynniea I am on day # 4 of rads, not bad at all.  I hope you do well, and also hope Irene poops out before she gets to you.  I hope you are safe!

    bb226-Congratulations on being finished!

Merilee-Congratulations on one week to go and taking some time for yourself!

Everyone on the East Coast will be in my thoughts and prayers this weekend.  Send some of that rain to Texas!

Does anyone have achiness in their radiated breast?  Mine started to hurt a little yesterday, not the skin, but more like tissue pain.  Not bad, but I will mention it next week, if it doesn't go away.

Sweetcorn, I am only on day four of rads and not much discomfort.  I do get that strange aching in my underarm area though.  I am thinking it must be normal, unless of course it becomes very painful.

Oh send rain to SE Idaho too.  It is so awful dry here.  I don't wish the dounpours that are headed to everyone in the east.  I hope it is not as bad as some are predicting.

I just came home from treatment 3, and so far so good I do not notice any side effects. I am surprised because I am a very fair blonde and I expected that I might be burnt already. Next week will be telling, because it is my first full week. I don't mind going to the hospital every day. I live 7 blocks away and I walk, and it is a very nice hospital. I don't mind laying perfectly still on the treatment table. I won't mind fatigue, because I am hyper, and probably won't feel the fatigue. The only thing that bothers me is worrying about skin reactions.

Kate hopefully your skin reactions will be minimal.  Try not to worry, and use plenty of aloe or gel.  What has your oncologist recommended?  I got a free sample of Calendula gel and have been using it.  So far so good.  I am not concerned at all.  of course I am only on round four!  Hopefully the worst you will experience is a little sunburn and it should be manageable.

I go to a cancer care center and everyone there is wonderful!  I am always surprised how quickly the treatments go.

    Take good care...sending happy hugs!

    Hi Janis,

     Hi Janis,

My radiation oncologist recommended Miaderm, and he gave me free samples. I go to a very nice hospital, and everyone there has been very nice. I guess I am so concerned about skin reactions because I am going to get implants. After two lumpectomy's my right breast is smaller than my left. I am small, a B cup at best so, the implants will make me a C cup. My plastic surgeon said that when I can get the surgery depends on how quickly I heal from radiation. I am glad you are doing well, and I appreciate your support.

Oh Kate hoping it all goes well for you, and that you heal quickly.  I know it is a worry.  Cancer sure throws us for a loop.  Waiting and delays are always the hardest.  I'll send lots of happy thoughts and healing hugs your way!

Everyone on the East Coast stay safe.

Yes I am done. And yes I celebrated. My red breast looks funny. Upon closer examination, it is tanning under the red. I was not expecting that but now I remember my RO telling me that it could happen. I just think that I sent that breast to Hawaii and forgot the rest of my body. I am lotioning 6-8 times a day for the last week. It really helps with the itchiness.

Sweetcorn I have had that feeling at times. It came and went. In the last week I haven't felt it. Have you tried any pain meds yet (tylenol)? It might help.

Merilee enjoy the time off. You deserve it.

Good luck everyone and I wish that you have as minimal side effects as myself.

Hey Kate....you can count on me anytime.  I know how scary this all is.  We can hold cyber hands!  I don't know how anyone gets through this without support.  It is great to talk to friends and family, but as "sisters" we really understand all this!  Smile  One day at a time, and you are never alone!  Big gentle hugs to you.

So much going on with everyone!

bb - Contrats on being done!!   Thank you to you and Merilee for leading the way and showing us this can be done.

kate - I know you are worried about your implants.   I have TEs in right now and my whole radiation was planned around them...to minimize any damage or SEs that might complicate things.   Keep lotioning up and be generous with it.  There are so many ways our PS can work around whatever issues pop up.

sarahbob - Getting hit with it all the way in Greensboro?  Wow!  I have friends who live there but went to the Warrior Dash this weekend somewhere there in NC...camping no less.   I hope all is well with them.   Can't believe the Warrior Dash was not canceled.

Week 3 is down, now only four more to go.   Feeling more tired at the end of the week here but skin is doing great.

All of you on the East Coast are in my prayers.   Take care and stay safe.

    Juls

we are getting wind and rain. Not like the coast....getting the outer bands. I have family on the coast (New Bern and also Nags head/Outer Banks) and they are getting hit hard right now. The flooding from storm surge is the biggest threat.

The warrior dash may be further west, and therefore would be safe. I just heard on TV that when the eye makes landfall, it will be a Cat 1, so hopefully is will be just a TS by the time it moves north.

    Hi Ladies

I have one week to go and am wishing I had the Emu oil from the start. I can't say enough about it. Really helped with the itching and it makes my skin feel very soft and subtle. When I am done slathering in on my chest, I take my hands to my hair as it is also known for helping hair growth.

BB-my chest has the Hawaii tropical tan as well. By the way if you should decide to take the rest of you there, let me know I will join you LOL

You gals on the east coast, hunker down and stay safe. The ocean is an incredibly powerful body of water when it is being moved. I have seen first hand after the fact how beaches can be wiped right out. There was an entire row of beach houses washed out in one town in Mexico I spent time in, making the second row houses suddenly beach front. And I am talking about houses build of concrete. Gave me a new respect for MaMa nature when I learned of it and saw the remnants.

I will light a candle today and pray for all to be unharmed.

Happy for the week end and a break. Hugs to all

Merilee, I am thrilled the Emu oil is helping.  I am using calendula gel...samples from the cancer center.  Since I am jsut starting rads I have not had many skin changes as of yet.

Thanks for the comet, what a beautiful photo.

I hope everyone remains safe out east.  Hopefully the people closest to the storm have left the area safely.  Everyone else....big brave hugs to you all.  Take the best care please.

Just checking in. Here in Greensboro, we've not really had any weather....a bit breezy, bit no rain or high winds. Thank you God! However, my family on the coast is getting pummelled!  My aunt said is was a long night and it is not done yet! It is moving very slowly (< 15 mph) and therefore dumping huge amounts of rain. Flooding is the biggest concern. There have been several tornadoes with this also (not uncommon with hurricanes).

Lynniea: the outer bands should be starting to reach you now, and the eye is still in NC. This is one HUGE storm!! Stay safe!!

Glad you are okay Sarah.  I lived in Houston and remember those torrential rains.  There was terrible local flooding.  Houston never received a direct hit when I lived there.  However, I remember a couple close calls and then the downgrading to a Tropical Storm.  Those can sure be wicked.

Hello everyone. I start my radiation treatments on Aug. 30th (actually, my simulation is that day), so I guess I'm really a September girl, but I've been following all your posts and I wanted to thank you for all the information and inspiration you have given me. Onward and upward...
