Morning all. Torture begins in a couple hours.
{{HappyLibby}}

Barbara
Sorry for the torture
Happy Libby
Good morning. Take it slow.
Everybody
It is not skydiving. A hint- the doctor dealing with my allergies will not be amused. I can't say more except, I have to take a class and pass an interview. Oh and I bought a new litter box. More news tomorrow.
I might even have pictures. I had misplaced the camera when I got back from NOTL and just found it but don't have time to upload pictures now.
I should have said I would never do this AGAIN

HappyLibby update -
Her DH emailed at 3:50 am to say she was out of surgery and expected to stay in the ICU for a few hours before they move her to a regular room. No idea why the surgery took so long, but they did say that everything went well.
I'll post more as I hear it!
E
P.S. Rosemary....what the heck did you do??
-
Rosemary, are you adopting a litty?
-
YAY for HL! Here's hoping for a speedy recovery and nice new ones for her!
-
E - Whew! Thanks for the news I was beginning to worry after I closed down for the night at midnight - I bet you're tired - good friend that you are - I wish you'd slept in this a.m also, hope you are EATING!
Rosemary - it is a kitty isn't it? I can't wait to see the pictures - I know your allergist isn't going to be happy but too bad!!!
-
E - Thanks for the update - what a marathon sugery. I hope she is out of the ICU quickly. It's probably all the skin openings that have her vulnerable to infection. Poor thing must have tubes and machines everywhere.
((((HL, if you can see this)))))
Rosemary: Here is my guess and it is a completely wild tale I am spinning: You love litties, but you have long had an allergy or contraindication to cats. However, you just found that it has diminished and/or you found some mechanism to reduce your sensitivity that was not done in consultation with your very thorough doctor, who is concerned about infection/allergies. Sooooo, you will have a litty, and that's that, but you find out today if/when, or you are going to buy/adopt it today. You will either be the owner or a pet boarder. Hence the interview and exam?
How far off am I?
(((Barbara))) So sorry about this. A bad job AND bad weather to boot.
-
I want a litty too!
-
What a very long surgery for Libby ... relieved to hear that all went well! Wishing her as comfortable a recovery period as possible. Sending smooches instead of hugs ... she has to be pretty battered and bruised about now. Thanks so much to E for keeping us informed ... Libby is so lucky to have you for a friend!!
Rosemary went to NOTL and met Linda's most wonderful kitties and they implanted 'must have kitty' in her brain. I hope hope hope we are all correct here and that you are adopting a little purr machine of your own
We must have pictures you know?! -
Just got an update on Libby on FB. She will be in intensive care all day today.
Cindy ... I think there is light at the end of the tunnel if you only have 3 more to go! I'm so glad for you that you're almost done.
Barbara .. thinking of you stuck in that hotter than hell location doing a presentation you don't want to do. Hopefully Irene won't get in the way of your return on Friday. I know your DH misses you too. It sucks sometimes being the one left at home!
Rosemary .. are you getting a kitty? I just loved Linda's kittens. They were so cute and lovable.
Hope everyone is having a good day!
Bren
PS .. E .. when do you hear back about your bone scan?
-
Rosemary, aaachooo, Ach-choo, but I agree, even with my allergies, I vote you're adopting a fuzzy one, with Gorgeous Eyes, and soft, soft paws, who will fall asleep on your tummy, after giving you a "paw massage" getting comfortable to find a sleeping place.
Name? Contest? Winner gets?
HL - whew. a long one, rest, rest, rest - so happy for you it's OVER. Thanks E for keeping everyone updated. LONG day. How was your bone scan???
-
When Lucy died this spring I said no more cats. Cats are my #1 allergy. but my new theory is that other people's cats are worse than your own.
I have one litty and will be adopting a kitty who looks almost the same but is much bigger-not Athena bigger but biggger-at the Humane Society but they do an hour interview and video before you can adopt and DH got there too late yesterday to start the process. So he went into work an hour early so we can be there on time. He may still be late for the interview. They want both of us there so that they know we both want it.
They say he is a Maine Coon but I think he's a mix. His face is kind of skinny. Our Bobba is a Maine Coon female and small for the breed, about 12 pounds. He is at least 15-20. They are both gray with tabby markings.
DH will drive him home because Bobba is very much my baby and he thinks she will be more upset if she smells the new cat on me. I went to 2 shelters yesterday and she would not get on my lap last night.
I had no idea of getting a new cat until someone at work said she was going to the sheelter to help a friend pick out a dog. Then I looked up Maine Coons and there was one at the Humane Society 10-15 minutes from here. The rest were 2 hours away. I went and looked at Baxter and checked the other shelter just in case but Baxter won my heart and DH's too.

Hi from Dublin!! Hotel absolutely gorgeous - The Shelbourne. Gerard Depardieu staying here apparently. Did the hop on hop off bus this morning after trekking a long way to a laundrette. Then went to a big shopping centre for lunch and a browse. After that I headed to the laundry to pick up the washing - so good to get clean clothes. I might take the jeans tomorrow - it was too much to carry by myself so I left them out.
I hope you are all ok after the earthquake - being from the shaky isles I know it's not a good thing to happen.
Found out today the bloody bus has free wifi - thanks for telling us. I could have saved money - useless pr&*ks. I've had to pay 20EUR in the hotel!!!!
There's a tour to Guiness on tomorrow. DH wants to go. He's much better now but we both have a cold.
Tomorrow night we're going to dinner and a show - that should be good.
Hugs to Libby!!!!!!
Sue
-
Susie .. so glad to hear you are having a wonderful time.
Rosemary .. your new kitty sounds so cute. Hope you can post a picture.
Slow workday for me today. arghh!
hugs,
Bren
-
Susie, nice to hear from you. I hope you are enjoying Dublin.
Bren, thanks for that update (and the pictures, BTW). I hope HL can swing by here. Hope the day goes by quickly for her too.
Rosemary - congrats on your soon-to-be-pet litty! Be sure to post a picture.
Hillck - congrats to you too. I hope you have something special planned for the last infusion. Hoping the Herceptin works for you, needless to say!
-
Best of recovery luck for Libby!
-
Forgot to say, I loved your photos!!!
-
hillck, I hope some people are not shocked by this but I always make the comparison with 9/11: After the bomb, we are rebuilding, taller than ever, with proud defiance against terror. After cancer I rebuilt (smaller than ever), with that same sense of proud defiance the domestic terrorism of my DNA. :-) It was an enjoyable process and I really did see it as a bit of a gift to myself for having to endure the disease. I hope it is the same for you.
-
Cindy -- HL's surgery was almost 20 hours. Then she spent 12 hours in ICU and is being transferred to a regular room this afternoon. Whew! What an ordeal, but she came through with flying colours -- that's our Happy Libby!
Athena -- Our reaction to BC and all that follows is as individual as we ourselves are
. -
20 hours????!!!! (I'm jealous - tell HL to come here, not FB. :-) )
Lindasa, I agree.

Just heard from Otter, She is having a lovely time communing with nature on a holiday so bucolic that she and DH do not have much access to technology and she is therefore not really able to post. She sends to say that she still has pages to read before catching up but that she is glad for those who are making progress in treatments/surgeries.
-
Thanks for the update on HL and Otter - I got a PM from thenewme - she's good.
Went to a really nice French restaurant close to hotel tonight - thankyou Mr Google

Night night
Sue

Baxter is home and adorable. They wanted me to swear he would not go outside. He's a CAT. I will go under bushes and decks and climb trees to get my cats in at night but if they escape during the day oh well. He was an indoor cat and I am not going to kick him out.At 5 years old he probably won't try to get out too much. He is now basement cat and there has been meowing back and forth at the basement door.
I looked at kittens but decided I am too old for babies, no matter what the species. Baxter had been at the no-kill shelter since March. I guess it was just the right time.
We will go slow introducing the two cats.
I am so glad HL is doing well and hope otter is having a good tme in the wilderness. Susie your vacation sounds great.
-
Hi Everyone .. just heard from Enjoyful that Libby is sitting up on her own in a chair now. Wow! She's doing great.
Glad to hear Otter is having a nice break and communing with nature.
Sue .. sounds like a wonderful dinner.
Hope everyone had a good day,
Bren
-
Rosemary .. we were writing at the same time. So glad to hear Baxter is home with you!
hugs,
Bren
-
Rosemary, we want pics!
HP is one determined lady.
-
Happy to hear that Libby is up in a chair already ... wow!
Good that otter is not missing but just off having a good time.
Rosemary ... you have Baxter already ... cool! If the two cats are meowing instead of hissing and spitting it sounds good already. 17 lbs or so of fluffy cat must look quite impressive ... Maine Coons are beautiful cats. Yes ... pictures please.
-
Yay! I was 17 pages behind (I think) when I logged on, but I think I'm caught up now. I couldn't help it -- I got a PM from Athena (which resulted in an email notice), and I had to use some of my precious battery electrons to check in with you guys.
There's no way to do justice to everything that's happened in the past, what, almost 2 weeks? I'm glad for so much: HappyLibby is recovering from her surgery and sitting up; nobody among us was hurt or badly inconvenienced by that seismic shift; NOTL appears to have been a wonderful time for all who attended (wish I'd been there); Rosemary has a new kitty (love those Maine Coons!); Sue is having a great time (generally) in her travels in Europe; etc. (Lost track of what else happened in 17 pages.) Oh, and I hope that darn hurricane spares Bren and everyone else along the coast. We needed the rain in AL, but it turns out that the thing will suck all the moisture out of our air and leave us dry and sunny. Could be worse, I guess...
We are on vacation in Montana. This is another one of dh's extended trout-fishing trips. I enjoy them because I'm under no pressure to catch fish -- all I have to do is a bit of upkeep (buying groceries, doing laundry, stuff I'd be doing at home anyway) and being lazy. The thing that keeps surprising me is how hot it can be in Montana. We were cold last week when we were in the Beartooth Mts.; but now we're on the Madison River and it's nearly 90 degrees (with very little shade -- a semi-desert area, seriously). Oh, well. It's vacation.
I told Athena to tell y'all I was frolicking in a cool mountain stream, as you would expect an otter to do. But I'm not puttin' my feet in that water -- it's too darn cold!
Anyway, dh just beeped to say the burgers are ready, so I have to go. I'll try to stop by again, but next week we'll be in an area with no internet connection or electricity.

Hugs to all of you. I've been missing you.
otter
-
lol - I'm glad you have beeper technology at least! Enjoy burgers, otter.
-
{{Otter}} Missed you.
So glad Libby is feeling better and actually sitting up! Woo Hoo.
Rosemary got a litty, Rosemary got a litty! So happy and your babies will be too, when they get used to each others' smell.
Thanks, y'all, for all the well wishes on the job from hell. This job is *not* what I normally do. I am actually doing the work, not showing what the system *could* do. That is why I continue to resist, as I have other stuff, where I can make money, that I need to focus on. I think I have a way out, at least until the go-live date. Fingers crossed.
Hi to everyone I may have missed, sorry this is a fly over but have to sleep. Had the typical two hour insomnia thing last night!
