Hi ladies I had my simulation done today with my tattoos.  Not to bad they said that would be the worst and longest.  I have my next appt on the 31 of Aug and start Sept. 1 for the real thing.  I just want to get this started.  It seems it takes so long.  Also keep me in prayer looking for a job and I had a second interview.

shays37, I had my 1st treatment yesterday and it was easy.  There was not much for me to do but lie still on the table.  The machines did all the work.  They did x-rays first and the actual radiation took just a couple of minutes.  They said it will go quicker for me today.  So off to Day 2 later this morning.  So far no problems.  They did give me a sample of gel to rub into the radiated area 3x daily.  I was also told not to shave my right armpit for the duration.  The fresh shaving can cause more skin irritation.

I hope everyone has a great day today!  Hugs!

I meant to ask what happens next month?  I will go thru rads all of September.  Do we go to a new September thread, or does this one continue for all of us who started in August?  Since I am starting so late this month, I was not sure what the protocol is!  This is a great group so I would love to stay here.....but not sure.  I'll follow the lead I guess!

Thanks Janis, but so far nothing has helped the itch except sleep. No pain but I feel like I have poison Ivy on my chest AHHHRRG! I just took a Clairiton to see if that will help.

justmejanis - I'm hanging out here for the duration.  I got delayed yesterday b/c of the storm so I will go to AT LEAST Sept 19th at this point.  I will continue to check on you all until everyone is done!  Hoping the machine is fixed so I can get #19 today!

Merilee - I don't how I'm doing it, but my skin has not changed at all.  Not even pink!  I guess I'm getting a well deserved break since I was on the brink of death with chemo!  Sorry to hear you are so itchy!

Hi Kymm.....so glad you are not having any serious skin issues with your rads.  You are almost halfway through....I hope you stay well during all of this.

MamaV same to you, that is wonderful you escaped any skin changes.  Yippee!

Barb, said it in a different thread, but HUGE congrats for finishing up rads!  Happy dance.

I am off now to #2............hugs and love to you all.

I am half way through!  15 treatments left. The radonc said that if I haven't seen any great skin changes yet, I probably won't. It's just a little tan.  I keep putting aloe gel and lotions on two or three times day.  I feel a little itchy, but nothing serious yet.  He said I could use a 1% cortisone cream if needed.

Sorry about those of you who had storms and have to delay treatments.  I know you are anxious to get this phase over with.

Thinking about everyone and take care,

    Jane

Kymn:  Ask for some radiagel sheets if you have even a hint of a blister, especially underneath your breast.  They work very well.

I have a question maybe someone else as a clue to this.  Yesterday when I went for my appointment, the tech, Maria, said my Onc had ordered x-rays, she said standard.  That I get.  She said I would not see my doctor thru rads unless a problem came up.  Severe side effects, etc.  She also said if I had any questions, she would relay them to him and get back to me.  All good...I have been fine.  So she said yesterday was my only "long" appointment and today and every day after would go much faster.

So I went in today, and she said my doctor had ordered more x-rays.  So again went through all that...seems like they are taking x-rays of the same area on my chest.  When rads were done and I got ready to leave, she said tomorrow not to leave after rads, that my doctor wants to see me.  Okay....no panic but just curious.  Has this happened to anyone else?  I just have no clue why he would want to see me.  Hmmmmmm.............

Thank you MamaV!  I was just surprised when she indicated I would not be seeing him routinely.  Okay...I can relax now!  Smile

Once a week for me as well.  X-rays every 5-7 treatments.

X-rays for me too, about every 5 treatments they told me and I see my RO once a week also.  I have just completed 10/31 and I will be finished Sept 23rd. I plan on staying on this thread, but might check out the Sept rads thread (is there one started yet, I haven't even looked).

I am starting to itch too!  I think its from the tape they put over the sharpie marks, I just got some new ones between my boobs on Monday and they are really bothering me, not sure if anything topical will stop the itch because the tape will still be there! I really don't like to take much medicine, so I guess I will just have to deal.

    Hi Lovely Ladies!

I've been following this thread for a couple of weeks while my treatment plan was figured out. You are all such a great source of information and reassurance that I can get through all of this.

I got my Oncotype DX back and it was a 15, so I will be starting 33 rads on Monday. I had CT scan and mapping done today-got my two purple dots too! I see my RO every Monday after my treatment. I was thrilled to get a 7:20 am time slot as I work in the next town and need to be there by 8:20-I'm a school nurse and we start back on Sept 6th.

This has been a long process of appointments, waiting, tests, waiting, surgery, more waiting...So glad to finally get going!

    (((Hugs)))

MamaV. you had a bad time with chemo? What SE's did you have? What are you using on your skin to do so well? I start tomorrow and am a little worried!

Leigsha...congrats on a great Onco score!  Mine was 16 so I too fast forwarded to radiation.  I had treatment number two today, just 31 left to go.  I think you will breeze through this with very few problems.  The first couple appointments take a little longer with the x-rays, but the whole process is pretty quick.  I am thrilled you were able to get an early appointment time.

    Hugs to you!

Hey barb58 Congrats. I am also a barb and finish this week. 2 to go. The last day I have gotten red and it isn't going away like it use to. Still itchy and taking an anti inflamatory OTC now 24 hours a day per my skin nurse advise. The area under my arm is the most inflamed. My husband looked at me and asked why I was wearing my straw purse under that arm. I can't believe I was that stupid. Oh well. The skin nurse also gave me some type of gel pad that I can put in the refrig and lay in that area.

I am so glad that more people have joined the group.

I see my RO every Thursday and have xrays on Fridays but I have had a few extras along the way.

    Everyone have an uneventful Thursday.

Boy did I ever get a nast antibiotic this time--clindamycin.  Hope it works and that it's worth the SEs. Well, indulging in wishful thinking, I visited our local organic market today and picked up some 99% aloe.  Stinky stuff, eh?  Has anyone found a sweeter smelling brand from an internet or chain market? I also picked up a small tube of calendula...that smells very nice and has a nice consistency.  Hope I get to use these soon.  The waiting is driving me crazy.
