It turned out to be nothing!!!!

    _______________________

Please let me know if anyone has any experience with something like this.  Right where my tumor was originally, a long thin thing appeared under my skin.  I have no implant there...no boob, just ribs really.  Can a local recurrence come in the form of a long thin rope like object?  I can't get into my oncologist till next week wednesday.  I don't know how I will be able to wait.

    Anyone ever heard of this?

Thanks my sisters....I feel really worried.  I hope it is nothing.

Meggy, I can imagine how stressful this must be for you. Sorry I can't help with a diagnosis but as you can't see your oncologist for a week, to alleviate your distress I am wondering if you could see another doctor?  I actually thought this is something that a breast surgeon might look at but I could be wrong.

Could you see your primary care doctor?  Maybe you could show it to the primary doctor and he/she could call the specialist and discuss it on the phone?  That is what I did when I had an unexplained rash.  The onc was able to make an educated guess on the phone about what it was (fortunately in my case not serious). You may need to have a scan and it would be good if that could be organised sooner.

I am just thinking it might make you feel a bit better rather than enduring not knowing for another week.  I hope it turns out ok. I will say a prayer for you.

I have been dealing with the tumor breaking thorugh my skin for almost 3 years now. Usually, when it starts, it's in the form of seeds or rice grains, but it can also take other shapes. If you don't get it in check, it can quickly grow into ridges and large lumps. I had lumps as large as oranges form after the tumor broke through the skin. It's early days for you yet, so this should be relatively easy to control. Hopefully, it will turn out to be nothing.

That sounds odd. Could it be a vein or something that popped out a bit? I wish your doc could get you in sooner to put your mind at ease, but maybe it will go away before then. Sorry I am not more help to you, but I have never heard of a recurrence like that. Maybe an inflamed muscle? Scar tissue that broke up a bit?

Can you call your Onc for an emergency scan or have a look at it? When is your appointment with the Onc? Do not panic and maybe it is just nothing. Hope other ladies can come to help....

Google Mondor's syndrome and see if that sounds like what you have. I was freaked out by these cord that appeard running down my abdomen several years after surgery, only to find out that they are common following breast surgery. They resolved by themselves.

Might be cording - I've heard of if after mastectomy and reconstruction

I have cording through my armpit and into the underside of my arm on my mast side. Don't know if that is what yours is, but feels like a thin hard rope (spaghetti sized or a bit bigger). Cording is the lymph drainage vessels that get damaged in surgery dieing off.

Hope you get in soon, have a peaceful weekend.

    Hi Meggy

It is good that you are getting this checked out but it does sound like Mondor's. I got one after my biopsy that ran from my nipple up to my armpit. After my surgery it ran through my armpit down my arm. It was distressing but the surgeon told me it was nothing - just an inflamed vein.

Your line does sound like it. I won't say "try not to worry about it" because it totally freaked me out but nobody seemed particularly concerned about it with me.

    Take care

Good news!!!!  I got to see my oncologist and my breast surgeon.  Both agreed that it was nothing because they pointed out to me that I had a whole row of them....like a corn field.  It is clearly just my anotomy or cording or anything is fine that can't take me down!  Thank you all for responding.

    Meggy:

I am glad to hear your good news--it's always scary to find something like that.  Good that you had it checked out so you can relax!

    Great news Meggy

I thought it sounded like cording but nobody can blame us when every time something out of the ordinary happens we get sacred.

I also have young kids and I find a lot of inspiration in the fact that you are doing so well this far out from diagnosis.

Thanks ladies!!!!!   I'm having surgery tomorrow to swap out my old expander and get a regular (but small) implant...non cancer side.  I hate surgery....makes me nervous....but it's a little one (the surgery and the floob).
